Grey Seer WIP--UPDATE--Finished

Post by Cal »

Well I've had this mini for a while and a couple of weeks back i was bored so I started painting him up and with about 6 hours worth of odd picking at him upto now I'm pretty pleased with how he's going.

Well obviously the major bit of work here is the base which at the moment I'm thinking of some dark slimey water to one side with him standing on a sandy bit but I'm not sure. Aside from that there's a bit of general neatening up to do plus I want to repaint his horns and work on the metals more especially, and the jury is still out on the wood.

Looks good. The colours contrast well with each other, bringing out the small details really well. Great work! I'd really love to see some of your other minis :D

Looks good, very good even. Two things you should consider:

- Another brown for the staff. As it is now, the tone is too similar to that of the tail. Simply adding some more highlights and a subtle wash should suffice.

- Some dirt on the robes. Just stipple a very dark brown onto the lower folds. Of course, that depends on the type of base you're going to go for, but it looks a bit too clean and thus unskaveny at the moment.
Count them:

Painted in 2013: 500
Painted in 2014: 600
Painted in 2015: 854

Thanks guys for the compliments, glad you like it. I'm definatley going to look at the wood some more and put dirt on once I've based it since I'm not sure how it'll turn out, I'm also thinking of toning down my metallics a bit since I personally feel they're a bit on the bright side in some places at the moment.

Why red robes?
I really like you model and it is definetely well painted, but I think the colour of robes look similar to his furcolour, meaning no contrast....

Because I like the look of red on skaven I guess, it's not the contrast between them which ever worried me really. It's the wood and the skin which worried me and actually still continues to.
