Furies for Harpies?

Post by Rob the dark elf »

I love using Harpies in my games but I dont like the models, so I was thinking about using chaos furies that I saw on the GW online store. Are they on a bigger base than harpies? If so would it look stupid to put them on regular ones? Or does anyone have any ideas for other models/conversions I could use.

Thanks.

THey are on a bigger base but I took them to conflict and no one cared just make sure you are clear with your opponents that they are harpys

I have another idea... it will put u back a pretty penny but I love the way my harpies came out

Daemonettes with Fel Bat wings... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/A ... ure006.jpg

Basically just cut the wings to a decent shape, sanded, then filed through some of the daemonettes back and voila! you gots some harpies!

my conversion is based on daemonettes. basically, I used daemonette bodies, harpy wing extensions and zombie hands.

for that, I had to take away all daemonette armour and clothing with a knife first, and also some of the daemonette hair. the I glued wings to the back using some greenstuff and the hands to where daemonette hands were. then the parts that were damaged in the process have to be resculpted with greenstuff - some of the hair, and some breasts.

this give a good bestial look but requires quite good conversion skills. mine are not spectacular, so I'll try to redo this once I've had more practice (especially with sculpting from GS), but if you are good at converting, give it a try.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. I think I will try and convert some Harpies out of Demonettes. Will they look silly on the smaller base size? Or is best just leave and the slightly bigger ones and not worry? Also, on the online store there are 2 types of Hapry winged, 1 is curved out and 2 is curved in. Which one do you think is best?

Thanks again.

I actually like the harpies from another miniature maker (Gamezone I think?) Much more seductive and daemonette looking than the more feral Games Workshop harpies.

Having said that, my original army had Harpies (1996ish) but since then, GW has renamed those models "Furies" - damn that's frustrating!!!

Mine are the standard figure with some cleaning up and new hair, the result is quite presentable

The colours are rough because I haven't settled on a skin colour for my army.

if you need the harpies for playing, then I would advise you to put your daemonettes on a 20mm base. mine are on 20mm bases, and they look totally ok there - nothing wrong whatsoever.
