This combination between the Cauldron and speedy armies is yet to be perfected...I've tried it and although the cauldron is expensive, it can add flexibility to your units. Not having a dragon is hard, especially against Brettonians, but speed and rending star could do the trick. The ring on the champion is what I always use, and he usually lasts long enough to make a difference. The warrior unit is there to take the quadrant and add an assassin to the army.

What do you think? :D

I think its a nice list :) but id swap the SOB on the Dreadlord for the hydra blade, why have +1 attack when you can have +D3? In addition, put the Dreadlord on a steed incase you want to charge him out of a unit on his own  . Id also try to kit out the dark riders with some xbows but given the shade/star units I dont think this will cause you massive problems.

Overall not bad

I gave him the SOB because the hydra blade is 20 pts more expensive for 1 more attack on average (3 attacks on a D3 is, with my dice rolling, very rare), but I can see where you're going. If I mount him on a Dark Steed he'll be faster, sure, but he'll also lose the fear causing benefit and the AS benefit of a Cold One. As it stands, he is able to take a charge from a greater Deamon and wound him back enough not to lose the CC...on a dark steed it will be a bit harder...but I'll be trying that version also. :)

What do you think about assassins, is the warrior unit worth the cost for the power of having another one?

I think the heartrender is probably a better magic sword for your guy. Rerolling hits and wounds is often better than the extra attack and it combos very well with killing blow from the cauldron or the potion.

Yeah you are basically paying 180 points for an assassin... if it wasnt a compulsory core choice id say no its not worth it but I dont see how you have much choice really. If it was me id drop the assassin and the spear altogether, use the points to make the warriors shielded crossbowmen, add xbows to the riders and give the Dreadlord either heartseeker or hydra blade.

EJ has it on its head. Hydra balde is the best weapon and more shooting can't be bad.

Hmm...my worry is Dragons and greater deamons. I'll face quite a few and rbows won't help in the same way as rending stars will...they're the only things that can outflank me. How would you handle a Dragon?

Heartseeker is cool, but more expensive. Do you think it's better than the hydra blade overall?

just rending stars will not kill a big guy. But with 2 Assassins in the shades you should be fine.

the new rxbows are quite devastating...
i would add them too.... there are plenty expensive units out with with lower T - perfect for them... and just in case - the pure mass of shots add one or two more wounds you need to kill a big guy.

but your list looks effective... you'll loose friends if you would play it in your normal gaming group ;)

great weapon on shades is a nice thing too... thx to assasin they still can make their attack and in addition to the cauldron (+1A) they can attack a unit of knights if needed...

gl with it!

regards, Sai

Hehe, I know people on internet forums usually say that cheesy lists make few friends, but here where I play it's not that frowned upon. It may be dull, but it is seen as challenging, not offensive.

2 Hydras have problems with gunlines and fire lore users/casters/attacks. This means Tzeentch, Dwarves, Empire and also skaven for example. It's not like you can't win against them, I've lost games with them, especially against these foes. ;)

Anyway, I can see where you're going with the Rbows suggestion...maybe it's effective with 2 assassins+shades+xbowmen. I'll try it out!

Cool, i went to a event there and i know of few of them. Mr Joanne Anna is a good player. Columid are you playing for Portugal??

I was thinking and 2 RBTs instead of a hydra would be better.

I second the consideration of bolt throwers, and yes the hydra blade is most definatly worth it, I can see the benefits of the heartseeker but with hatred as standard you have to leave SOMETHINGS to chance surely...

Id think that combined shooting from stars/bows and then a charge off ur dreadlord should handle any greater daemon or dragon fairly well bar the GUO.

I didn't know there was a team Portugal already! When is the ECT?
If I can I'll join them for sure...I've tested Rbowmen today against woodies and was very impressed ;)

Thanks for all the input, I'll be reporting interesting events with this list.

And Marauder Mitch, I played lizzies against you at one GTS, remember? :)

Yes, I used saurus at the time...

Man this thread has got off topic lol

I quite like the list, more shades than I would use, and no Infantry base. But it looks very effective.

I wish you luck with it, please post when you use it and tell us how it went.
I love you
