Talk Like a Pirate Day Sept 19th!!

Post by Calisson »

I was wondering why Underway had in his signature:

And don't forget International Talk Like a Pirate Day Sept 19th!!

Is it because of this?

In English versions he says ten thousand thundering typhoons. Or, Billions of bilious blistering blue barnacles. THe rest of the insults [dig that wiki, even in French!] seem to be fairly direct translations, except for that where Haddock says Kanak, for some reason we get Polynesian.

The google translator IMO is kind of . . . Erratic one time I translated a Polish text and got that infantry used killer whales to fight off cavalry

I'd blame the polish rather than the translator. Their tactic were always quite audacious yet ultimately rather naff. :P
