Cauldron of Blood convertions.....

Post by Smasngrab »

Has anyone got any good ideas on how to get a decent model out of this? I cant stand the look of the new figure, and even tho i hve got (most) of the old mini, and its better, i feel its too small, and it has also gotten some damage. So what im looking for is some good ideas on how to make a new cauldron that looks like it can move, and fills up a chariot base a bit more than the old thing...

Here's what I came up with.

The photo's average but you get the idea.

Hope it helps and goodluck with your project mate!

Hey!

Yeah, alot of people don't like the statue model.

But I actually don't mind it.

I used bits from the Vampire Counts corpse cart.

Works well with the cauldron I think.

Cheers!

Im thinking of doing the same, just based on a cold one chariot, using slaves instead of cold ones, and making a platform on top thats flat, also a friend of mine found this mini for some comic releaf:

http://www.crocodilegames.com/secure/it ... 0Sprue.jpg

but seriously, i was thinking about using some plasticard on the sides to make some spiky edges to the chariot. Ill post some images when ive goten to some point where it looks like something...

Here is what I did for mine, I plan on adding something to the center of the circle because I do not like how it turned out, like a face or something. I also want to add cart wheels or add some slaves carrying it, or something alike to explain its mobilty.

I saw that same model last week. I am seriously thinking of picking it up. All of my witch elves are painted as though they bathed in blood already, since there aren't any flames under the cauldron, it kinda works.

The reason why "Bubbles" is such a great figure and works so well with our Dark Elves, is because she (and the rest of the Crocodile Games line) was sculpted by Chris Fitzpatrick, the artistic genius behind the majority of the current Dark Elf range.
That's silly! Playin with little statues, pretendin' they're fightin'! Why not just round up a bunch of real goblins and lettem' whack it out?

For my CoB, what I plan to do is getting a base of skulls, making an alter from plasticard, mounting the alter on the skulls, having a dismembered slave on the alter.

For Khaine I'm not so sure. Maybe the deceiver model with a HE lord helmet and painting it up to look like stone.

The idea being that Khaine is giving favour to the druchii the more they sacrifice on the battlefield :D

I think I will keep mine simple, and just leave the statue off and put a plate on there for the Death Hag to stand on.

Without the Statue, the Cauldron should be alright being movable. Not entirely realistic (without wheels), but hey, that certainly isn't the only thing in Warhammer, that is not entirely realistic. At least it is not as ridiculous as this huge statue being lugged around by a pair of Witch Elves. ;)

I went a bit off the reservation on this one... I have one cauldron of the old style being pulled by a cold one, and this one which I wanted because I like Lizardmen, and it makes it look a lot more mobile...

That could work, would be sweet to use beastmasters then for handlers, would be great for a beast themed army...

What model is that, a kroxigor? And what did you use for the cauldron bit?

Yea I'm thinking of making one that's carried around by slaves underneath. An idea similar to that seen from spartan 300. Whether I'd put BMs on there to whip the slaves along or not is debatable. But that's the general gist of what I have in mind. Though currently I'm making mine into a kitchen and my WE attendants as chefs.

It is a Kroxigor indeed, and the Cauldron is a cast of the old Cauldron (the one from the wagon).

love that kroxigor conversion. i personally am gonna make mine out of some plasticard, a steam tank, 2 juggers with khorne symbols filed off and obviously the cauldron itself (but without the statue, i think it looks hideous).

My COB is completely scratch-built from foam and cardboard, some wire etc.
Still in WIP stage though, but definitely NOT too small

I have shown mine here in the past but what the heck. I had this idea:

It's actually not a Cauldron of Blood, it's an Altar of Atharti ;) my army worships the goddess of indulgence!

they're flagellants, I extremely like that design, it's better than what I had designed with my flaggies by far.
