The lava bases are a nice idea but your lava needs some additional colours for sure. The rest of the colour scheme I'm not a fan of at all. The brown cloth blends far to well with the bronze armour and needs to stand out more. For both fluff reasons and purely esthetic tastes, I think the bronze is way over-done. You've also carried the lava-theme too far. Why the cold ones or the dragon would have that kind of colour scheme doesn't really make sense (to me anyway) so it seems like you're trying to beat people over the head with the "lava" theme. Lastly the skin looks like grey mud?

You only asked about colour but also not a far of the Lizardman shields. I know, I'm just bring Mr Negative today...

I like it, especially the cold ones. They look great, very much lava-terrain dwelling lizards. Kudos on doing something different!

I think this is really cool. However, the lava needs some brighter colors. Down in the crevices where you would paint darker colors on most things, the lava should have brighter oranges into yellow since that is where the lava is hottest. And on the models themselves, one more level of highlighting would really make them pop.

Also, google pictures of how lava flows. Some of the bases should have the highest lava bits painted to be the natural rock. It looks a less like lava and more like some magical liquid that can run uphill. Look at the last Cold One pic you posted and you can see what I mean on the far right hand side of the lava as an example of what I'm talking about.

That said.... AWESOME idea. I hope you go through with it for the entire army as its looking pretty sweet. Take the comments here to heart and I think you've got an amazing looking force on the way.

Cheers,

I can't really comment on technique (being a rubbish painter) but on colour scheme I largely like the warm bronze look, makes a nice change, but I would change the brown cloth to something a little more distinctive, red perhaps or a dark orange.
Moding a group of Druchii.net players is much like directing the musical 'Cats' using actual cats. Frustrating, difficult, chaotic but ultimatley satisfying and a great deal of fun.

The idea is fantastic, colour scheme? Bronze looking armour is good, but like everyone else, the cloth needs to be a different colour that stands out. Otherwise it just looks like you've been lazy with your models and just painted the one colour over them. It'd be a shame to ruin such a great idea like that.

If it was up to me, I'd go for a cool mid tone colour to offset the warm colours plastered everywhere else currently. Like teal or baby blue.

The Lizardmen shields I'm not too big of a fan of. Mainly because they're too bulky, doesn't suit an elf. If they were holding swords then that'd probably suit them more, or if you were using Corsair models, but the original thin tower shields suit the warriors so much more. I understand you want the scaly design for a lava theme, perhaps green stuff some onto a tower shield and make a cast for it?

I really like the idea. The cold one looks great as does the dragon.

As already mentioned the lava needs more highlights and the cloth on the warriors needs to be a different colour to make it stand out. Maybe pick out things like the sword scabbards and belts in a different colour to break up the bronze look at bit.

you definitely need more contrast in the lava itself, i.e. yellow-white and red-black. Otherwise the scheme works, bright armies are typically considered attractive on the battlefield.

The spearelfs are not finished, I make it less brown.

Here are some corsairs:

First I try too paint as many dark elfs as possible,
After all models are painted I gona highlight and add some more brightness in the lava.
