[PLOG] The Cursed Ones

Post by Curse_Bearer »

Hello! I have just started my Dark Elf army and want to make my space in here ASAP. These really help motivate me with community feedback, and I am happy to be apart of the DE race. My very first army was WoC which I have stopped playing, and then I moved onto Ogres who are my main, and the army I have most complete. Now with the majority of my Redkin complete, my eyes have ventured to the tortured lands of Naggaroth and the powers of darkness! *evil laughter, lighting, a little rain*

First up is my Dark Riders, the first elves I have ever painted!

Still need little touches here and there, but I am happy with how they turned out. I wanted the riders to "pop" with their black cloaks versus the brown of the horses and the red/bronze and steel highlights I will spread out through the whole army.

When shall we three meet again?

Definitely with some evil laughter

You will find lots of good info and discussion on this forum.

A suitably brooding batch of Riders there 8)

Thanks TD! Wicked happy to be here. I have to better control the size of my pictures, but I'll get a hold of it 8)

I'm planning on getting about one box of minis every two weeks, building and painting each within that time. I made it with the riders, and now have a Deathag, Master on foot, and BT to do this weekend. I will be picking up my first box of Witches today, and have five of the older, metal ones coming in from Ebay. Already some of my gaming buddies are lamenting over my choice  and I have one DE friend who is helping me out with bits and advice, too. Huzzah!

Updates upon updates!

Oldschool Deathhag pretty much done. I want to give her and the rest of the ladies some blood speckle around their mouths, and try my hand at pupils...but who really needs those?

The Dreadlord! Still needing a suitable name, but a peg surfin destroyer of worlds nonetheless.

What model did you use for your pegasus? It has a very aggressive look to it.

That's a super old citadel Pegasus, found him on ebay for pretty cheap. GW still had some on their website a while ago, but I don't think it's there anymore. He's pewter and beefy as hell.

Dun dun dunnnnnn!!!!

The ogres arrive carrying the salvaged remains of a High Elven warband, two thoroughly used and abused bolt throwers! They need a bit of greenstuffing before paint but these lads will serve me well. Reaper shown for scale/base comparison.

I like the ogres - they make good slaves. Just a note, your signature says the Crused Ones :)

Doh! :killed:

...Should've just called them the Cruised Ones, make a big cruise ship display board...

Nice idea with the ogres :) are they slaves or mercenaries?
I believe the high elf bolt thrower comes with a quiver of bolts, would look cool strapped to the ogres backs/hips.

Thanks guys :D

My original idea was to have Ogre slaves with the BTs, and beastmaster models as the wound counters. Whip scarring and all that. Now that I've built them, they don't look like slaves to me, they look like they're having a good time !lol!

I found one more ogre body in my bits box, and I need help filling out my future black guard unit...

OGRE BOLT THROWERS

Post by Curse_Bearer »

Finally! I can show off these bad boys, toting their looted high elven bolt throwers to shoot enemy daemon princes, eagles, and various monstrous cavalry in the face! BOOM! Hurhurhur...

Pupils to come when I gather my courage.

Fresh from the painting table, here are five test scheme models for my Executioner block. I loved the idea of Shadow Warrior heads vs. the silly skull masks (Sisters look so much better in comparison) and a few eBay bids later...tada! This only took a couple hours to get to tabletop standard, so the other 18 of them should be done by the end of November.

I really like those shadow warrior heads on the executioners, they are the perfect combination of evil and cool. Keep up the good work.

I really like your executioners! I think I will try to do the same when I do a unit for my own army! The death hag is a lovely model as well. I succeed with pupils about half of the time, but the cross-eyes ones go in the back ;-)

The helms do indeed look nice on the Executioners.

As everyone else has said, those Execs are awesome - love those heads, with the runes. They have a lovely slick "Eldar" look, but the darker tone set clearly shows they mean business! Like your dark, volcanic bases too.

I fully agree with everyone here, Shadow Warrior helmets make everything instantly more awesome and they fit executioners perfectly. )also not a fan of the original skulls)
