The characters will be split between the blocks of Eternal Guard and Executioners (Everqueen, Handmaiden and Sea Helm in Eternal Guard, Annointed, Death Hag, Shadowdancer and Mage in the Executioners), the cav characters go in with the Sisters, the Great Stag goes in with the Silver Helms. Lots of Warhawks because I like them (I've got six converted out of witch elves with Tyranid Gargoyle wings, the other six might end up riding Giant Ravens I think and a 'Frostheart' Raven conversion.

I think it's a nice big dirty list that gives me lots of options to choose from when I play smaller games and I can play my special characters as generic characters, move bolt throwers from Rare into Special if I want to. Lots of shooting and small unit tactics but some nice big blocks to force my opponents across the table to get me and lots of movement shenanigans with the Glade Riders, Dark Riders, Shades, WW and Malekith. I like options and big games!

I still think it's softer than when I used to run a high elf prince on a dragon (white, back when you could choose), Imrik, Asarnil and a wood elf on forest dragon as an ally. Back then they had fly high, and I was young and impetuous (you know a bastard). I'm still working on it, a lot of it is stuff that I want to convert and kitbash as much as trying to get filthy stuff in there.
For us, there is no longer the druchii, the asur and the asrai; now there are only the Asdra; The Laughing Ones.

For us The Season of Doom is ended, now The Season of Opportunity is begun.

This is a really nice way to utilise the changes. When you think about it, the power of the rules of Malekith The Eternal King have an archetypal eldritch Elven feel to them. He could quite easily represent:

- An ancient Phoenix King (even Aenarion!) or a new Caledorian Phoenix King blessed by Asuryan

- An Asrai High King riding a Dragon blessed by Kurnous (or Loec in your example)

- Of course, the King of the Dark Elves!

Converting DE/HE/WE units into our own particular army style and fluff is one of the most creative and interesting uses of these End Times combined lists IMO.

Only one thing. My executioners will begrudgingly protect a Loremaster of Hoeth as he escorts his Book of Hoeth to the next battlefield. That's assuming spell spamming. If no spell spamming then a High Elf Wizard Lord with High magic and said book. Love them ward saves!

I'm thinking either White Lions or Swordmasters pushing the Cauldron of Blood with witchbrew death hag (most likely White Lions for the Stubborn).
Joined by a level 1 or 2 high wizard.

Army lead by a level 4 Shadow Wizard (or Malekith) because holy crap Shadow Bridge is a game winner spell. If not Malekith then the wizard is a high elf for the book of broken.

Glade Guard provide fire support while Sisters of the Thorn and Warlocks are the fast cavalry of choice (Sorry non-wizard fast cavalry)

White Lions teleport about the field, getting super close to biggest enemy threat that can't escape. When charging they go with 3 S6 attacks each (due to own magic phase and Cauldron Bound Spell). When charged they go with 2 S6 attacks.

They are provided MR1 and 6++ from the cauldron. which the high mage improves as much as possible (single spell makes the CoB 3++ and 2++ against spells, 3 spells make the entire unit 3++ and 2++ against spells). Stubborn makes them not go anywhere until the last white lion (common problem with the witch horde once they start dropping models)
7th edition army book:
Games Played: 213
Games Won: 114 (54%)
Games Drawn: 33 (15%)
Games Lost: 66 (31%)

8th Edition army book W/D/L:
Druchii: 36/4/16

And you -disagree- with my comment that our 'new' book is OP? :?

The mechanics Dalamar describes can be considered OP not because of the book (take BG instead of White Lions, you get nearly the same result with a pure DE army).
What can be said to be OP is the new magic system.

The new magic system breaks the game. But my example of taking the best and most complimentary combos elves have to offer makes the Book at the very top even exceeding Legion of Chaos.

Witch Elves painted in a wood elf theme might be a neat addition to a WE army. I might get me some elven archers to fill up the core and field 2 elite combat units.

I've out a few ideas down and have come up with something like the following:

Loremaster with Book
Master BSB on a horse
Master on a Pegasus with the Book

8 SilverHelms (BSB gors here)
5 dark riders with toys
5 dark riders with toys
Probably Darkshards, maybe LSG depending on points

Big block of executioners (lore master goes here)
Double RBT

Double Warlocks

This still leaves me with some 500 points to spend on eg a frost Phoenix, second combat unit (Phoenix guard) and a bunch of chaff (Eagles/shades). I might drop the Pegasus to make it happen.

Of course, things are still up in the air at the moment so I'm going to wait to see how it turns out before committing. For instance I've no interest in using big mega characters or khaine Magic.

What book for master on peg?

I'll be fielding an Aestyrion list as I like their fluff the most. A White Lion unit with World Dragon and a Bloodwrack Shrine seems like fun. I may even take some Silver Helms to represent Tyrion's countrymen who stayed loyal to him throughout the campaign. They aren't too threatening but having core heavy cav is appealing to me.

A loremaster and a special unit, perhaps. Phoenix Guard most likely. Looking foward to start painting/modelling again after a long hobby limbo.

So where's all the sweet Eternity King conversions at? Let's see 'em folks!

To start things off: some mocked up Eternity King Silver Helms.

In keeping with my affections for all things nautical, I've added a reasonably-sized unit of Sea Guard and a kit-bashed Sea Helm. They are joined by a unit of Swordmasters escorting a Mage or Loremaster (which will be converted from one of the IOB Swordmaster musicians) and two units of Ellyrian Reavers from the IOB set. What can I say, they were going cheap, and my Dark Riders are sorely missed in an Aestyrion list.

Given that these options support either an Aestyrion or Phoenix King build, I'm going light on Wood Elf options. I've picked up a Spellweaver for access to Dark Magic in a Phoenix King list, although I suppose I could always proxy in a Sorceress.

I was thinking of making a "wind, waves, forest and flames" themed list, using the Host of the Phoenix King. The additions above would be handy for that, but I'm thinking I'll also add a Flamespyre Phoenix, some Wild Riders and Sisters of the Thorn, a handful of archers (to be fielded as Glade Guard, Deepwood Scouts or Waywatchers), Dryads with a Branchwraith option, and a Treeman. Part of me wants to add Wardancers, but I tend to think of them as a poor man's Sisters of Slaughter, and the new Witch Elves work reasonably well as proxies. If I can afford them, I'll also throw in a Skycutter, one or two Great Eagles, and a few Warhawk Riders... not optimal choices, to be sure, but they work with the theme, and with a concept I'm working on for some more End Times fluff stories.

9 man dart of wardancers with the killing blow dance for character assassinations is always handy, hell even a five man pack can be a good toolbox or speed bump.
For us, there is no longer the druchii, the asur and the asrai; now there are only the Asdra; The Laughing Ones.

Agreed - it was a deliberately provocative statement.

I'm still likely to proxy the new Witch Elves as Wardancers for the time being, though.

Oh I like that, nice and simple, works with multiple army styles, might have to gank that idea! What sword arm is that?

Some nice conversions mixed across the ranges on show there.
Definitely something to ponder there for my own project.

Hmm. The arm itself from elbow to wrist is taken froma dark rider. The hand and sword is either cold one knight champion or a small possibility of belonging to the black dragon kit or IoB Swordmaster champion. Not entirely sure as found it in my bits box! Edit: definitely looks like thr knights l champion. The shoulder ia attached to the charioteer body btw.

On tbe right of the picture you can aee a mock up of my Eternity Guard - more are on the way!
