You might want to add my army thread to the monsters section.

I did alreadly. Your efforts were not unnoticed!
Bottom of the post "Classic Army lists" in the first page of this thread.

Nightblade183 will take care of this topic, but has not yet created his sub-thread.
I suggest you two get in touch so that you would elaborate about the "Monster Army" part for him and he would include a link from his D.R.A.I.C.H. sub-thread towards your own thread.

Always looking for volunteers to join the D.R.A.I.C.H. project as the Army Book is in the shelves.

Please PM or volunteer to the persons responsible for a part of the project.

See the ToC in the first page of this thread, or
The first D.R.A.I.C.H. author team

If you want to make it a part of the D.R.A.I.C.H., that is an excellent idea. Remember that people are not supposed to read thoroughly long threads. The D.R.A.I.C.H. author is supposed to refresh and edit the posts in the first page with the up-to-date information. Concise writing is apreciated.
If the information is getting too heavy, then split it in several sub-sub...sub-threads, with links from the upper-thread to which it is attached.

Imagine a root (the sticky "Table of Content") with sprouts emerging (sub-threads), then, with time, sprouts will become trunks (sub-threads linking to other sub-sub-threads) with branches (sub-sub-threads) and leaves (posts or more sub-sub...sub-threads)...

And you can get anywhere with a few clics starting from the sticky ToC.

Benji, I'm currently writing all of my information on each army build type. If you want to write a section for the Monster List build than just use my Classic List build as an example and explain how and why your monster list is successful. PM me your piece and I'll slap it in the correct area. If you don't want to that's fine too but I will use your list as a reference tool when I get to the Monster build and post a link to your list. Cheers! - Nighty

News about the tactical compendium D.R.A.I.C.H.

Hi all fans of Druchii tactica.

Here are some news about the grand project for 7th edition Druchii: the D.R.A.I.C.H., which aims at helping us Druchii generals to learn from each other's experiences with our reshaped army (see the introduction for more insights about the aims of the project: D.R.A.I.C.H. - The Living Book of Art of War for 7th ed DEs).

The D.R.A.I.C.H. was started on June 15th, waiting for the Army Book to be released officially in stores on August 2nd. At that time, I couldn’t predict if the project was going to catch up or not. Well the outcome was a good surprise.

I was extremely pleased to see the enthusiasm the project raised, and how quickly it started. A team of authors has been gathered by August 1st, even before the Army Book was released!

On August 15th, after 1 month of existence, the D.R.A.I.C.H. has been seen already 3600 times. Nice for a project just started!

Thank you to izirath, Khel, Heartrender, Aspiring Executioner, Arnold Layne, King Coombs #1, Nightblade183, Almundis, Mr. Anderson, Archon_Matt, Darluith, grez90, bikeninja, tmr, who all volunteered to take their share of the work. Some other authors volunteered since, more author may join the gang in the future and should be added in the team, providing help where it is most needed.
The first D.R.A.I.C.H. author team

The different parts of D.R.A.I.C.H. have been attributed to the authors. A couple of new parts were created in the process, that I did not foresee initially. This is an excellent way of doing the work: evolving with the inputs of all interested authors.

Have a look to the D.R.A.I.C.H. - Table of Contents (Druchii's Art of War) (the first page of this thread).

Some of the parts are starting with an impressive speed.
I would like to highlight in particular:
D.R.A.I.C.H. - The Units
and
D.R.A.I.C.H. - knowing your enemy (in progress - have a look but DO NOT POST a reply).

Although not completed yet, these two chapters contain already valuable information. And it is bound to keep progressing!

Compliment to their authors. They are setting high standards to the D.R.A.I.C.H.. I am sure that the other parts will catch up, it is just a matter of time. There is still some room for improvement, and the whole Druchii.net community can put some momentum in it!

Of course, after two weeks, most of the work is still to be done. The authors could work alone, some of them did, but another option is to give them a help: if some of you, Druchii.net users, could send them (with a post-reply or a PM) an article dealing with any topic presented in their specific Table of Content, then you would add your own tile to this work of common interest. Another way for you to participate is to post comments on what has been written. The comments should be based on actual practice or at least on solid theory.

One of the parts needs specifically your help before it can fulfill its promises:
D.R.A.I.C.H. - Complementary material
It requires the help of Druchii.net users to be completed, at least for a part designed for people who speak English as a second language: there is a chapter dedicated to links to translations. If you know one good lexicon in your mother language, please send a reply to the thread, in order to help your countrymen in the future.

In the meantime, I tried to edit the detailed Table of contents (the posts following the main Table of Contents) with interesting threads that are flourishing now that the Army Book is widely spread.
Go and have a look, there is plenty to read.
This should help people interested in a specific topic to spot immediately if there is a thread dealing with it.
For the moment, the wole thread must be read in order to get its essence. In the future, all these threads should be hopefully summarized in the respective parts of the D.R.A.I.C.H., which should accelerate the reading.

In the next two weeks, I’ll be on vacation with limited access to the Internet.
I will not be able to keep editing the Table of Contents with new threads, even with new D.R.A.I.C.H. threads.
If necessary, there are now moderators in the D.R.A.I.C.H. team that could do it for me. I sure will not mind.
Otherwise, I will try to catch up in early september, if my work allows it (not granted).

Your comments are welcome, as usual.

Calisson.

September monthly review.

Dear reader,

1. Where are we?
This month, I wanted to learn from you reader in which way could the D.R.A.I.C.H. evolve best for your needs.
I tried with a poll [Poll]Do you like the D.R.A.I.C.H.? How'd you like it to evolve?, that met limited success (less than 200 views, only 15 cast, a single answer – but well considered). Fortunately, some readers expressed spontaneously their frustration with the low quality of the threads found in the tactical forum Too much D.R.A.I.C.H. topics ?, which gave me, along with the results from the poll, the opportunity to understand what they were looking for:

WE NEED BETTER QUALITY.

In the meantime, the D.R.A.I.C.H. ToC had its 5300th viewer (among which I probably rate high, for editing purposes). This includes the views of the top ToC leading to the different chapters, and, most likely, the views of the links to various threads of diverse quality. I was glad to see in several threads some advertisement to the D.R.A.I.C.H.
A special mention to Khel, with his thread “D.R.A.I.C.H. The units”, getting its 2000th reader, and to several other D.R.A.I.C.H. threads which passed their 1000th reader. It does probably reflect the threads where the reader's expectation is the highest. So it is an encouragement to keep writing these threads.

With these hints (and the poll), I can safely conclude that the D.R.A.I.C.H. is already recognised as:

A TOOL FOR EVERYONE.

This happens at a time when the ToC thread covers roughly 75% of the planned content, with links to usually quick & small threads that cover very lightly the topic, but at least this is better than nothing.
We are getting close to:

EXHAUSTIVENESS.

2. Where are we going?
As a result, I decided to keep running what was encountering an apparent success (the detailed ToC with its links) but also to encourage a rise of the quality of the D.R.A.I.C.H. and of D.R.A.I.C.H.-like stand-alone threads.
I encouraged the D.R.A.I.C.H. authors to keep writing their threads, for this is where the best quality is found.

I wish that they received some help from other talented authors / tacticians. Please encourage them and participate as well.

Unfortunately, Izirath quit as author for the Beginner’s section. The thread is available to anyone of goodwill.

As a signal to the Druchii.net community, I added a rate in the main ToC, so that everyone can see the level of achievement (roughly estimated) for each topic. Apologies if my estimation prooves bad, and be certain I mean no offense for anyone, I just mean to be helpful for the reader.

I also reviewed all the threads linked from the detailed ToC, in order to highlight the very few of them that are written with a distinct quality.

3. Who can participate?
As I mentioned many times, the D.R.A.I.C.H. is for YOU, not only for me nor a happy few, so any of you is welcome to provide your opinion, your advice, and, of course, your contribution.

Contributions to improve the quality of the English, the conciveness or the tactical value are all useful.
Don’t worry if English is not your first language, it will improve while you type, and your ideas are certainly worth considering even if they were not thought in English.

October monthly review.

Hi, all druchii fans.

Slow progression.
This month's review of the D.R.A.I.C.H. is somehow disappointing.
I'm afraid that the D.R.A.I.C.H. project has lost its initial momentum.

Nine D.R.A.I.C.H. big topics were created initially in addition to the ToC.
Five more threads were added as temporary worksheet for the previous.

I include also in the main D.R.A.I.C.H. list two more threads that were not created for D.R.A.I.C.H. but truly belong to it:
the ehaustive "a discussion about our magical items version 2.0",
and the outstanding "Game-Winning Magic in 7th Edition Warhammer".

Out of these 17 threads,
2 can be considered as completed.
10 look like dying (no change last month - still far from completed).
5 are going on (updated since last month).

Chapters completed.
"Collecting information on units for draich"
=> it was intended as a booster for the regular "D.R.A.I.C.H. - The Units". Pretty much all of the topic was covered, so the thread stopped.

"D.R.A.I.C.H Magic Phase Tactica"
=> it was designed as a sub-thread from "D.R.A.I.C.H. – Playing the game", and has been quite thoroughly covered. With no additional comments received, it stopped.
Now we have a complement with "Game-Winning Magic in 7th Edition Warhammer". Ideally, there should be a merge of these two threads.

Abandoned chapters.
"D.R.A.I.C.H. - Druchii for the beginner"
=> the author dropped it and it is empty - it is available for any goodwilling author.

"D.R.A.I.C.H. - Classic Army Lists"
=> the author has not been back on Druchii.net since Sept 07th.

Stalled chapters.
"D.R.A.I.C.H. – Army List Creation"
"D.R.A.I.C.H. - Combining units in an army"
=> I had no recent news of these threads, but the authors indicated once, last month, that they were willing to proceed on.

"D.R.A.I.C.H. - The Characters"
"Collecting information on characters for draich"
=> should be combined together, and take into account the many "small" threads found in the detailed ToC.
Altogether, there is material for a decent thread.

"D.R.A.I.C.H. – Playing the game"
=> has not started at all, but several high quality sub-threads have been written.

"High level tactica against all races"
"D.R.A.I.C.H. - Knowing your enemy"
=> just need to be combined together, and only 4 races have no anti-strategy written yet (Chaos Mortals, Chaos Demons, Dark Elves and DoW). We are close to the completion, but someone has to do it.

"D.R.A.I.C.H. - The Units"
=> just needs to take into account the finished related thread, and complete it a little bit.

Thriving chapters.
"D.R.A.I.C.H. Movement Phase"
=> is a sub-chapter of the "D.R.A.I.C.H. – Playing the game", but it stands on its own. Close to half of it has been written.

"D.R.A.I.C.H. - Complementary material"
=> this modest part of the D.R.A.I.C.H. is the one that has the most regular update.

"a discussion about our magical items version 2.0"
=> not really a part of the D.R.A.I.C.H.. The best point is that it is going to be exhaustive, even if it lacks in depth analysis. Hopefully there will be a summary, otherwise it will be a thread of reference for writing a true D.R.A.I.C.H. article.

"Game-Winning Magic in 7th Edition Warhammer"
=> the best article written so far. Perfectly in the D.R.A.I.C.H. spirit, even if it was not intended for it. I wish all articles were of such quality.
Close to be completed. A little bit too late for the Nobel Prize, that is a pity.

And, of course,
"D.R.A.I.C.H. - Table of Contents (Druchii's Art of War)"
=> daily updated, with presently 388 references. However, it is not an article by itself.

Successful threads.
There have been a few threads that hit their 1000th reader, from the tactical or general threads with some content related to the D.R.A.I.C.H..

Among them, I apreciated in particular:
Dark Magic Cards PDF (NEW BOOK)
and
AB 3.1 Files for download here. V2.8 Final Version??
which are not articles but are outstanding helps for the druchii general.

I wish to mention as well the following threads, that went beyong the too often seen basic single sentence statements with no argumentation. They deserve definitely some cut & paste in a future D.R.A.I.C.H. article.

RxBs- 1 shot or multiple shots? -Poll
Getting the Most out of Executioners,
Sword of Ruin vs. Chillblade
How long to get the hang of playing DE?
If you've written off CoK, give them a chance....

Many other threads did not passed yet their 1000th reader, but contain some well thought post in it and deserve a visit.
I selected and highlighted them with some * in the detailed ToC.

And, yes, the ToC itself is still viewed with interest, if I can judge with the number of readers exceeding 6500 by now.

The way on.
I wish the stalled articles be resumed.
Especially, as mentioned above, I feel that "the antitactica" and "the Units" have now enough information available for their authors to proceed on and finish them.

For the abandoned articles, I would gladfully receive new candidates to take over the task.

Thank you for reading this.
If ever you feel like participating to the project, the door is warmly open.

Thanks for the kind words. Damn -- didn't know there was a prize or I would have done it earlier ;)

After I finish the magic article (sometime this week) I will probably do some future, similar things about some of hte other phases of the game. Probably something about building and using shooty armies. Not sure where exactly that would fit in the DRAICH since it would cover both unit selection and deployment.

So can I get a little bump on the % completed?

Sure!
The % is an indication for the reader, not a jugement on the author.
Usually I try to guess, from what I can read, what is the completion, but if the author can provide it, it is much better.

Just let me know what you would like to read.

And many thanks for your efforts, of course.

November monthly review.

Hi.

D.R.A.I.C.H. needs you.

For most of the D.R.A.I.C.H., nothing has been written this month.
It is unfortunate, as there is a lot of material available for would-be authors, either from stalled threads or from the many threads I am still collecting.
Of course, painting and playing games is time consuming and it is what WHB is about, but writing an article and being read by many people is very rewarding as well.
So if you feel like writing a summary of already written threads, it is possible to take your chance as tactical author.

You don't have to be a tactical genius to write a good article for the D.R.A.I.C.H.
... but doing it will help you to become one.

This month's evolutions.
tmr has completed his "D.R.A.I.C.H. - Complementary material". Some updates are bound to happen, but the bulk of the article is there.

no one's "a discussion about our magical items version 2.0" is making its way. When it will be completed, I hope the participants will be eager to keep sharing their experiences.

Dyvim Tvar complemented his "Game-Winning Magic in 7th Edition Warhammer" with the "Defending Against Enemy Magic -- the Druchii Way". Looking forward to read the end of the article.

My "D.R.A.I.C.H. - Table of Contents (Druchii's Art of War)" is still updated. The number of monthly readers is stable, 7800 this month.

The face of the D.R.A.I.C.H.
Artwork Competition - Voting Thread designed a clear winner. Compliments to this impressive design. I'll put it near the top of the thread, where it belongs.

The way on.
No change since last month.

Thank you for reading this.

December monthly review.

Hi.

This month's evolutions.
I just reorganized the "D.R.A.I.C.H. - Table of Contents (Druchii's Art of War)".
All topics related to a single unit are no more scattered throughout the thread.
I’m sure it is easier to read.

The number of monthly readers is stable, 9000 this month.

Besides that, not much to relate.

The way on.
If nobody wants anymore to put together a D.R.A.I.C.H. chapter,
I’ll have either:
to end up doing it myself (which will take time resources I don’t have for the whole D.R.A.I.C.H.)
or
to simplify the D.R.A.I.C.H. project and leave it as it is now, a mere record of links to diverse threads, most of them not intended to stay for posterity.
It could be enough.

Thank you for reading the D.R.A.I.C.H.
Remember, his tool was created not only to be used by you reader, but also to be developed by you author of goodwill.
Thank you for reading this. Thank you for considering to participate and/or providing your advice.

Not to be a big downer or anything but has anyone ever bothered to actually look at DRAICH? It's a nightmare to read. Piles of information that for some reason gives me no value. I think it's an organizational issue but over all it seems like it's a big, ugly mess right now.

If its of no value to you why read it? If our hard work means nothing to you then why even bother to comment? We work as much as we can for as long as we can but its basically Calisson, myself and a few others. Most have moved on while we toil to either fill voids or do it ourselves.

Just remember that the entire D.R.A.I.C.H. is for ALL of the D.Net community, and to be patient. If you have nothing more of value (as it wasn't really valuable to the D.R.A.I.C.H. what was said here) you should just not read it.

I don’t want to put words in phierlihy mouth but I think what he was asking was 1. Was anyone reading this tome. That can be answered easily. With over 9700 views of the thread someone is looking at it. Statically its one of the highest view threads so someone is looking at it, and I know statics can be misleading but it appears at a gross level people are looking at it. 2. More important he comments on the organization of the volume and suggested that it’s still not optimized – at least that is the way I choose to interpretation of his statement.

So… I guess I’m not ready to say the organization is right or wrong at this point. Not to belabor the point but what I will say is a number key areas need additional content. So there are two things I’d like to suggest to help this problem a) the thread leads that are not able to manage their threads be replaced or see if we can get them some help. For some of the larger thread we may want to further divide which leads to suggestion number two to help with this. b) An administrative change - I would ask the site admin if we could make the major subject section thread shared threads so multiple people update. Like the owner currently can. If it’s not possible maybe we could create phantom users with the multiple people being able to log into the system as that user. Yes I know there are lots of problems that could be introduced but this is not working and I’m just throwing out an idea. But that is key to the two part get well plan. There has to be a way to pick up a thread if the owner leaves.

Next I would also suggest that we talk to the website admin and see if there is some way to move people in this direction during a quick search. One of my basic complaints of the site in general is when I do a quick search I get hundreds of hits and that I need to sift through and just get overwhelmed. So what if the default is to this section. But before that happens, when someone gets here that has to be something that will help that person either answer the question they have quickly or help them refine their question for a better search.

So the get well plan revolves around filling in content that is clearly missing by allowing multiple content providers being able to update threads and using the quick search function to direct initial questions to this thread vs. the hundreds of hits that one gets when using quick search.

If you have a better idea or what to riff off of this plan comment away. If you want to sharp shoot or rip into this without offering a alternative keep it to yourself. I want to try and make this better, I don’t care how… it does not even have to be my idea.

@ phierlihy
Criticizm can be a good thing if it is meant to improve things.
As Darluith mentions, the D.R.A.I.C.H. is for all D.netters so it is for you as well, at least if you want this help.
I am glad that you expressed yourself, as I invited you to do.

However, criticism can be a bad thing if it is only a negative statement, with little argumentation and no suggestion.

has anyone ever bothered to actually look at DRAICH?
Today's 9752 views obviously testify against your statement. It does not show much respect to the efforts and the time spent by the authors, which explains why Darluith was upset. Please, next time, find some support to your argumentation and express it more positively.

It's a nightmare to read. Piles of information
There are two parts of the D.R.A.I.C.H.
- The first part is made of a dozen or so of separate threads, each about a specific tactical aspect. Most of these threads have not been completed (as shown by the % rate).
- The second part is the present thread. It is a collection of hyprelinks to many, many threads, that I have found interesting, sometimes for a single line, sometimes for several posts. I would like this part to be exploited and integrated in the first part. When the D.R.A.I.C.H. project will be completed, this part will disappear.

Waiting for that moment, I am sorry to present only piles of informations.

that for some reason gives me no value.
I tried to highlight (with *) those threads of the greatest value, according to me.
The other threads do have some value, but a lesser.
If you know a thread with a higher value than what you've read in the D.R.A.I.C.H., please send me a PM or post below a hyperlink. I will share the good news with all D.net.
If what you are looking for does not exist, please write it! I'll include it in the D.R.A.I.C.H.

I think it's an organizational issue. over all it seems like it's a big, ugly mess right now.
It seems that my efforts to underline, make paragraphs and sort out the threads list are not enough.
Could you please elaborate and suggest which improvement you are looking for? Please explain it by PM or in a post below.

Please don't bite the authors or they won't write again!
Next time, I would apreciate you to take more into consideration the time and efforts that the few authors of the D.R.A.I.C.H. and related threads did put in their posts.
We are not payed for that. It is just our goodwill.
I am convinced that my work helps many people, otherwise I would not spend such unreasonable amount of time maintaining the D.R.A.I.C.H.

Positive criticizm helps better than negative one!
PS.
tmr was writing at the same time.
Thanks tom. ;) You perfectly illustrate what a positive criticizm can be. :)

For you suggestions,
a) the thread leads that are not able to manage their threads be replaced or see if we can get them some help. For some of the larger thread we may want to further divide which leads to suggestion number two to help with this.
YES! Fully support. We need new authors. See my monthly reports above.
Any person willing to compile the threads related to any D.R.A.I.C.H. topic, copy/pasting what have been already written, keeping only the most interesting part and discarding the rest, will help to answer phierlihy's concern. It will be greatly apreciated by most D.netters.

b) An administrative change
This one I cannot help in any way.
The concept of updating the first page (or few first posts) of a thread was my way to approach as much as possible a solution.

sincerely yours (and many other's, too)

I know you can't help but can we ask the admin gods? Maybe they can’t solve the problem right this minute but if we give them a goal they may have another implementation approach that we are not aware of.

But you don't get unless you ask... just like phierlihy did. My view of what he wrote was different than yours. I took it as a question for us to look at how we are organized and whether or not people are looking at this. We know people are looking – but are they getting what they want? That is the missing piece of information. I know the tread I'm doing has gone through a couple of changes and I'm thinking about more changes to that thread as it evolves. Shouldn’t Druchii's Art of War constantly be looking at itself too? A question - Who is the audience? As a public service what pain are we trying to solve?

When I started my thread I had very little guidance. So I built it for a guy like me who knows nothing but want to get involved. So who was my audience – new players. What pain was I trying to solve? So place where someone new could come and get a feel and some resources to be competitive by providing hobby, community and fluff links.

Anyway, enough from me… I hope that maybe you can ask the admin guys about the admin changes, if you think it’s a good idea. If not, no worries I will continue to work my section. Which for me frankly, I don’t care if anyone looks at… this exercise has made me a much better player, so for me it’s been and continues to be great fun.

over and out

I will apologize if my post above offended anyone. But I just can't stand to see people on the D.R.A.I.C.H. team get downed like they are doing absolutly nothing to help the community. I know for a fact that Calisson puts in his hours, tmr aswell, Kael, Aspiring Executioner, Heartrender, just to name a few.

They actaually work on this to make it what it is. Even if its (semi IMO) disorganized, I'd like to see some of you who think this is (or thought it was) a bad idea do any of this work. It really gets me that we put in countless hours of our time and give out decent tactical advice for what some of you (by sheer disinterest in anything other than reading our info) call useless. But you do read it as Calisson and tmr pointed out here. You read it and see what we put into it.

I say this to anyone that scans this thread or the ToC. If you read it and get something out of it, thank the authors (excluding me) for the time they took and the hours they spent here doing this. You all thought it was a good idea (some of you anyway) at one point. Give them credit for what they have built.

If you are thinking about joining the writing team and just don't think you know enough, I pose a question. Do you own a BRB and an AB? If you answered yes to those questons you can write for us. If you are unsure, PM Calisson and he'll tell you all about it. If you have some spare time, donate some words our way about anything relating to tactics, lists anything. You may not write a whole thread, but your work won't go uncredited.

I think I've ranted enough tonight. I leave you with this, if you are interested and just don't understand how this all works, just ask. If you want nothng to do with the D.R.A.I.C.H., please don't give us negative feedback with no info as it makes it harder to fix the problems that exist.

Thanks in advance.

FYI -- I've added to my article on the defensive magic phase.

http://druchii.net/viewtopic.php?p=717813#717813

Plan to actually finish it sometime this weekend.

Also, In response to the posts above, I was a bit down on the D.R.A.I.C.H. at the beginning, but have a different view now. Will it ever be complete? Highly doubtful. But it is useful nonetheless. And I think Callison and others have done a great job not just in setting up a prescriptive framework for what they would liek to see in it, but also in adapting it and taking into account topics as the arise organically in the course of discussion on the boards here.

I took no offense... I think criticism is important even if the criticism offers no solution or is unfounded. Having said that, offering solutions or alternatives would be helpful. I agree there is a sense of disorganization, but I think that is because this project is still has holes and is in my opinion trying to find an identity/reason for being.

I for one will keep plugging along, try to keep my little piece of the net moving in a direction I think it should go in. That is until someone gives me a better idea or some suggestion on how to better organize. I do not have the corner on all the good ideas I just do the best I can with the time I have.

January monthly review.

Hi.

This month's evolutions.
Darluith has now completed the chapter "D.R.A.I.C.H. Movement Phase"
He is working now on finishing the "D.R.A.I.C.H Magic Phase Tactica", which is designed to encompass, with further considerations, the two articles from Dyvim Tvar :
Game-Winning Magic in 7th Edition Warhammer - and - Defending Against Enemy Magic -- the Druchii Way (just completed).

Difficulties identified.
This month, there has been a discussion about the organisation of this thread, that can be read just above.

The focus point are:
- a number key areas need additional content
- a huge number of threads are left unachieved or with little interesting information.
- I could add, from the comments of tmr, that the D.R.A.I.C.H. has too wide an audience, so all readers are interested only in a small part of the information.

Let's review these three areas of concern.

Creating new, elaborated content.
For the additional content needed, it’s easy:

If you don’t find the information you want, create it and make it available!

Dyvim Tvar showed us the way.
Not everyone has to be as gifted as he is, the hardest part is to dare starting to write.
Trying to do what I recommend, I developed a spreadsheet for units evaluation and I’m now posting the results in a series of threads, the D.R.A.I.C.H. Boot Campseries. I did learn a lot in the process.

It will take some time, but at least new topics are covered extensively, as it was intended. Hopefully other authors will volunteer.

Sorting out the interesting information.
For sorting out the interesting information from many hyperlinked threads, the answer is the same:

If you find too much information, sort it out and make the summary available!

Someone has to read all the threads I collected, copy/paste the interesting info, elaborate a little bit and let me know when it’s done so I can simplify this ToC thread for the sake of the whole D.net.
This is what Darluith has done with all the threads related with movement, and tmr has done with all the complementary material.
These two parts of the D.R.A.I.C.H. are now mature, the ToC is simplified and I need not anymore to introduce new hyperlinks about these topics.
I wish it could be the same for other parts of the D.R.A.I.C.H. You could well be the one who did that, I would help you!

Targeting the reader.
I’d like the D.R.A.I.C.H. to be useful for beginners, for mature players and for competitive experts alike.
Do we need to make specific sections for the most demanding readers? I’d believe that an opening indication should suffice.
I assume it is up to each author to decide for whom he is writing, and specify it in the post.
With this mindset, there are a few links specifically designed for beginners.

Readers.
The number of monthly readers jumped, 10500 this month, 300 more readers than an average month.
I hope that it is because of the many new models you received as Christmas presents :P , for which you needed some advice.

Writers.
Most of the enthusiastic team from last summer has gone quiet.
At present, I know only Darluith, tmr and myself to be actively updating and completing the D.R.A.I.C.H.
Anyone willing to join us (or to resume writing) will make him/herself more knowledgeable in the chosen topic and will be beneficial to most D.netters.
It's up to you!

Thank you for your time.

Calisson.

February monthly review.

(EDIT - 15th Feb)
Not much to add tthis month.
Not much to substract either.
Overall, it is not worth a new post. Editing the previous will suffice.

The D.R.A.I.C.H. is still a good tool for D.netters, as shown by the 11440 views.

Nobody seems to write anymore for the D.R.A.I.C.H., but I know Darluith will update his existing threads.
I'm still busy with the "Boot Camp" threads. They are going well on. Surprisingly, not much comment in these threads except the COB. Is there any interest in tactics at all? Is my style rebuffing?

In the far future, I believe that I could cease to upgrade the D.R.A.I.C.H. after one year of existence.
If any major change is needed afterwards, the tactics mod should be able to do it.

March monthly review.

The tactics forum sees a revival with the introduction of tactical cases to examine. Not related to the D.R.A.I.C.H., but it shows a good spirit and a demand from "customers". I may add a couple of hyperlinks when there is an outstanding idea. What a great initiative!

I've just finished the series of "Boot Camp" threads. That was a work! But now, I feel a great lot more comfortable with the unit's wherabouts.
Not fixed yet about my next article: "Druchii for the Newbii", or "The making of a DE army".

Really, it doesn't take a genius to start a study and publish it - but definitly it makes the author, and hopefully the readers to a lesser extent, much better experts in the topic.

If anyone wants to be praised for a good deed, there are still many D.R.A.I.C.H. chapters left abandoned, for which there is a need to gather all the information accumulated since August, and make it a more readable single thread.

Khel is presently working on all that has been written about the units, with the intention of making it a comprehensive thread.
D.R.A.I.C.H. spirit not dead!

Meanwhile, tmr keeps updating regularly his D.R.A.I.C.H. complementary material. He proved to be the most constant author for updating the thread he took responsibility of.

12560 views! That was a good month with more than 1100 readers.

April monthly review.

Hi, dear reader.

The last two weeks were great for tactics. :D
It started with Irtehdar frustrated call: Where have all the Tactics gone?. :x
That was a revelation about the need to discuss less about the über-combo-of-cheese and more about how to maneuvre the whole army to meet the victory.

Quickly following that call, several high quality threads were started, and I spotted the following ones among many more including the word "tactics" in their title:
Druchii for beginners - scratch, designated by DA for beginners to learn how to use the basic tactics - still under development, with the eager help of many.
D.R.A.I.C.H. The balance of an army. A theoretical approach., an attempt to define what is "balanced" and provide solid grounds for future studies. For this one, I received gladfully the spontaneous and thorough participation of geoguswrek, thanks again.
The Tactics behind a Balanced list, starts with conceptual considereations by Skilgannon and is bound to proceed on with more practical tactics allowed by a carefully balanced army. Nice to see young blood starting to write such comprehensive studies! :D
One for Calisson - some Corsair tactics I have used..., an effort by DA to revive an interest on these units too often disdained by cheese gourmets (how foolish they are!).

I need no more to write what I was contemplating last month, "Druchii for the Newbii", and "The making of a DE army".

Meanwhile, the excellent Tactics Question of the Week keeps running, Lakissov presented its #4 problem.

For the rest of the D.R.A.I.C.H. ToC, there is a need for an overhaul.
Too many links to threads with too little a value.
I wish more authors did what has been done for the Complementary material, by tmr (did anyone noticed that he regularly upkeeps his thread? thanks tmr),
and for the Movement Phase, where Darluith had summarized all the good thing previously scattered across several threads, in a single, comprehensive one.
He planned to do the same for the Magic Phase but I have no news.
I'm also waiting for Khel to propose something about the units.
Hopefully, DA's thread will serve as a basis for a single Newbii welcome thread - or will there be a new thread "Newbies please read this first" linking to DA's and other threads?
Any help on other parts would be warmly welcome.

@ every D.netter,
if ever you go through a D.R.A.I.C.H. hyperlink and find the thread useless (possibly because it has been superseded by a most recent one), please let me know.
Deleting old hyperlinks will only make the D.R.A.I.C.H. lighter, for the benefit of everyone.
It will facilitate the task of the next editor of the D.R.A.I.C.H. when I will pass it over to an eventual relief.
I have no time to go myself through every single D.R.A.I.C.H. hyperlink, but with your help, we can make together the D.R.A.I.C.H a better tool for everyone.

Still popular whatever its defaults, coming to 13500 views, back to 900~ readers a month.
I imagine that when the D.R.A.I.C.H. will contain more articles about fine tactics than about army lists, the monthly reading will only increase!

Thank you for reading.

Calisson.
