GIVING THE D.R.A.I.C.H A FACE, THE ARTWORK COMPETITION

I am sure you are all familiar with the D.R.A.I.C.H project now, our living book for 7th Edition Druchii Art of War. The project is well under way, the table of contents above will link you through to every other page of the D.R.A.I.C.H. where you will find advice, councelling and help on druchii. Basically, its one big project to make us our very own Druchii Tactica!

Calisson issued me the job of creating an artwork competition, to get the perfect front cover the D.R.A.I.C.H deserves. I dont want to over complicate things, so i will keep the competition as straightforward as possible. Of course, designing Artwork can take some time so the competition will be open to entry for some time before we turn to voting and decide which peice we will use.

the competition

How Does The Competition Work
- find an old piece of Druchii related artwork, or draw up a new one!
- post here saying you are working on an item for the competition
- once finished, post a link to your drawing here as well
- once it is time, i will open a poll where the communities favorite piece will be selected for the front cover.

Competition Rules
- your artwork must be related to the Dark Elves
- your artwork should contain the word D.R.A.I.C.H. somewhere as a title
- deadline. all artwork must be submitted here by October 1st 2008.

Thats about all for the moment, please start sending in your artwork straight away!
I will leave this running until September time, so there is plenty of time to get those entries in!

Thanks for the replies, so thats 2 people interested so far. I was asking you to reply just so we knew how many entries to expect. Since you guys are the artists not me, how long do you think you will realisticaly need on the project? End of September? longer?

Nope, you can draw the image however you want. The only 3 restrictions are that is must be Dark Elves, must say D.R.A.I.C.H and must be in my October 1st. Thats the best part, Apart from that its up to you!

okay so thats 5 possible entries, just be aware of the two rules and the deadline guys, the rest is up to you. Its great that theres quite a few entrys already and since theres 2 months til the deadline im sure there will be at least a few more.

If it helps your inspiration, I added a subtitle and kind of a motto (which English correctness may have to be checked, forgive any mistake please):

The D.R.A.I.C.H. - Druchii Rules Analysis, Innovative Counselling & Help.
(the Art of War for 7th edition Druchii).

“Draich means death execution and the elegance in doing it, as well as the name of the weapon used for that purpose”.

explanation: this sentence comes from P.47, bottom.
I summarized, twisted some words and translated back into English what is a Draich, so that it could apply as well for the tool of the General.

Of course if the selected cover drawing had a slightly different sentence, I would update the Table of contents with the new sentence (or delete it, written in one place suffices). Especially if it is more poetic, cynical, black-humored, ..., Druchii than mine.

Or ... hey, why not?... Heartrender, you're not going to start a new competition for the motto alone, aren't you? :roll:

putting that sentence onto the artwork is a good idea yeah, and i dont think we need another competition just yet

3 at once is a bit much. The translation in the english book Calisson is:

DRAICH
the ritual weapon of one of Khaines anointed Executioners, each draich is hand crafted by the armourers of Khaine's temples and may take the form of a vicious sword or a mighty axe. In fact, the word Draich represents the act of execution itself, and the skill of the bearer as much as the specific blade used for the ritual.

if anyone wants to add the last part of that, or their own clever sentence, to the cover feel free to do so.

October 1st was decided because some entrants thought it would be long enough, if i get enough people wanting an extension i am willing to give one, but for now Oct 1st is the deadline.

Just one question: the word D.r.a.i.c.h. has to be a title similar to "Dark Elves" on the AB coverf? Or can it be a little tag in the painting?
