Ring of Hotek without Scroll Caddie

Well I just had a game with such a list last night, its nice because against other scroll caddies, it doesnt matter and against dwarves well you didnt waste more than 25 pts - against VC & Ogres it might be very rough and I dont care much for Tomb Kings!

So, he went through all Miscast results except double 1s in 5 turns of play, he focused a lot on my harpies at first cause those could easily kill his mages and warmachine crew which left my Executioners and Corsairs free to roam around - and thus I wiped the floor with him.

So its definitely possible to go without scroll caddie but its still risky as doubles dont alway happen and all those spells who dont have doubles - you will have to let them pass, keeping your 2 dispel dice for bound items.

what did you put the ring on? Would it hurt against empire/bretonnians/orcs since your clumping up to get in the rings radius, making you more prone to stone throwers/war machines?

Master with Armour of Darkness & Great Weapon

Against Orcs & gobs or Bretonnia, the harpies would be all over the warmachines as I use 3x5 plus 5 dark riders.

Against Empire, he focused a lot on harpies so I just surfed through his army with the rest of my stuff.

I actually ran this at my last tournament and came out in the top ten. Though I did roll up against a double stank which didn't have much magic and a Bretonnian. The VC definitely was a challenge but I didn't feel like I brought a knife to a gun fight if you get what I mean.

I ran it with a manti BSB, Dragon, double hydra with my RoH being on my CoK. They are armored enough to keep it alive and fast enough to get it where it needs to go. The stupidity was a worry but the few times I failed the test it didn't matter much.
