Using Cauldron to block LoS?

Bascially since the Cauldron is invulnerable can you use it to block LoS from enemy shooters and magic?

If I align the CoB sideways and hide the crew behind it, can the crew be shot at? (CoB can't be targetted, crew hidden) Likewise, would it work against stuff like bolt throwers and cannons?

yes the crew can be shot at.
Yes cannonballs will go through
Yes bolt throwers can still be randomized onto the crew.

Being indestructible is nice, but the randomization rules are still clear.

Seconded. By virtue of being seen, you can shoot at it and the crew as normal. They are all the same unit. Against cannons, they only have to pass through it to hit the crew.

A misconception you have is thinking the CoB can't be targetted. It surely can. It just can't be harmed. If it couldn't be targetted, the unit would be completely immune to any long range attack.

Would it make sense to use it as a screen then?

of course it would. this unit is excellent against shooting! first, one has to randomize, and discount all hits against the cauldron. and then you will have a 4+ ward save. good luck killing this unit with shooting. and against each magic missile, you will have an extra dispel dice.

so yes, I'd say, this is one additional use for the cauldron - as a screen on the first turn (and with 5" movement in any direction, you will be able to get the screen away and let the units hidden behind it go forward). the only thing that limits its use as screen is the inability to advance more than 5" forward, so you can't move the screen and the screened unit forward simultaneously by more than 5", like you normally would with any other screen.
