Hey everybody!
I thought the painting challenge was a really great idea, so I want to take part. My list will be as follows:
Supreme Sorceress Master BSB 5 DRs 5 DRs 12 Witches 10 Executioners RBT RBT 5 Shades 5 Warlocks Kharibdyss
My first 250pt post to cover January will be my Supreme Sorceress of Life (275pts). Hopefully get the posting images stuff right, I read through the rules but I am not very technologically savvy.

Here is a bit of what I've been working on. A unit of 5 Dark Riders and a unit of 10 Corsairs with bows. I've been painting quite rapidly and have a couple more units to show off, but they need snow and grass on the base and matte varnish so I'll wait to post until I've completed that. The rest of the army is mostly conversions and I hope to have those posted soon.
Currently working on a Kharibdyss, but not the typical model...can't wait to show it! Until then, back to work for me.

Thank you both very much! I need to test this new varnish I purchased but if that goes well, I should have some more posted quite soon. Thanks again for the kind words!

Looking forward to seeing your kharidyss. I really like your sorceress and the overall style of your growing army.

Excellent ideas and even better execution! Well done indeed! I really like the contrasting color scheme, your gold is brilliant and the color blending on the cloaks is super smooth! Keep up fantastic work, this shapes up to be amazing looking army!

I like your color palette and your painting skill is good. It's only preference but the moment you made your sea dragon cloaks the same color as your theme colors, you lost me. It went from being an above average scheme to Paris-Hilton-matchy-match-bad. Sea dragon cloaks are a chance to add color and variety to your army and I doubt very much the corsairs only hunt sea beasts that color coordinate with their pants. It's the only change I'd make but I think changing the cloak colors to something (anything) else would be a tremendous difference.

@Swordmaster @booah Thank you for the kind words! Hope to have the kharibdyss up this weekend. It should be a good centerpiece for the army.
I wasn't happy with the Krylon Matte finish I'm using so I may have to order Testors Dullcoat as I've heard good things.
I'd be curious to know what matte varnish others have used with success. I enjoy a very flat matte (personal preference).
@phierlihy I think you raise an interesting point. The corsair cloaks are one of the few items I've painted for the army that I had to paint back over. Initially, I went with grey for the cloak and red for the scales. It looked worse than the current iteration, I promise haha. I'm actually pretty happy with the way they came out, but I get the mitchy matchy argument. I don't think I'd change the red on the cloak but the next batch of corsairs I paint up, instead of purple scales, I may go for black/dark grey and see if that makes a difference. Thoughts?
Thank you for your comments, you've given me something to think think about.

Being a huge fan of all things pink, those Corsairs make me swell with glee. Brilliant.

Surprised I missed this one. Love the cloaks on your Riders. But what really gets me is the Sorceress. I love that model, and you have really made it a striking centrepiece with the mini-diorama of its emerging mount

@Payce Thanks so much! The cloaks are Khorne red, mephiston on the highlights with a mephiston and screaming skull mix on the very edges. Then wash with carroburg crimson, let it dry, and hit select edges of the cloak with screaming skull. Surprisingly easy. I love the carroburg Crimson shade.
@T.D. Thanks for your kind words! I've enjoyed reading your posts on this forum regarding everything from tactics to modeling so I'm glad you made it to my PLOG! The conversion on the sorceress was a ton of fun to build but the vines made painting her lower half EXTREMELY difficult haha

Time for an update! First, we have something fairly normal.

Here is where it gets a bit weirder. This is a grave guard and high elves spearmen kit-bash. Keep in mind that the theme of my army is the "garden of life and death". Here we have death in the form of high elf warriors forced up from the earth to do my sorceress's bidding as Dark Elf Executioners.

Maybe even weirder still. Here we have the "garden" part of the Garden of Life and Death. Game of Thrones/white walker inspired Witch Elves which are a kit-bash of dryads and deamonettes.

Final update: just finished this beauty tonight! Kharibdyss using the Forge World Dread Maw kit. I really had a blast painting this one and a fantastic kit altogether.

Wow. Dryad daemons are my favourite and I also love the blending on the cloaks. I have half a box of daemonettes with all the claws and my brother got the big wood elf box set with plenty of dryad. I'm tempted to copy...

One of the best painted Dreadmaws I've ever seen. You've managed to give it a living quality

Nice army - love the different units you have happening here, especially the gradation of colour on those cloaks.
I use to use Testors Dull Coat and would swear by it until my supplier ran out of stock, I then tried The Army Painter Warpaints AntiShine _ I could not recommend this enough and it comes in a bigger can than the Testors.
I really dislike the purple colour you have used around the edges of your bases - what made you go for this colour? I think a black/grey or earth tone would look much better.
