Re: i'm i the only one around here still playing 8th ed.

8th edition was by far the best GW ever created. That may be a hugely controversial statement, but I'll explain my logic (in no particular order): I must agree to that statement. Would have very much loved to stay there and enjoy my games. But with the endtimes they destroyed my beloved Old World a...

Dealing with tough elite Units (e.g. 700+ & Character)

Hi, after playing Chaos since Christmas I put my old Druchii back to the table. So far not seriously, had 2 games just to get a feel how some parts of the army feels today. I played DE until 2010 (and then one or two games) and I like how the army plays. Just one one thing I wonder, and that also s...

Re: Future DE - Strength and weaknesses

They didn't balance it. Dread elves seem to be the weakest book right now The strength and weaknesses lined out in the first post are the guidelines for the 2.0 armybook. So they are in place to define the future armybook. Please rethink your post before putting all that salt. Personally I will mis...

Amulet of Spite (ex Ring of Hotek): best to use/deliver ?

I am getting tired of the ultra fast/agressive style of my Lust/Slaanesh DL list, but wanted to wait with DE for 2.0 beta. As the beta will need some more weeks now I am "forced" to dig into the DE more deeper. When checking the army book the Amulet of Spite (70 pts) caught my attention. ...

Re: Welcome to the 9th Age!

We played the current 1.3 rules. We are the 4 guys from our ex Warhammer group. Joind by an old buddy who played not since a decade (and his son). For the start everybody choose one of their armies just to get into the rules and the game again. So we have currently Demons (Slaanesh), Warriors, Lizar...

Re: Welcome to the 9th Age!

Hi, having quit playing Warhammer with the start of the endtimes I felt there was something missing in my live. Sounds a bit over the top, but hey the Warhammer World was company since 7th grade to me - and that is now over 20 years in the past (damn too long). Never the less a friend triggered our ...

Re: Nagash

Sad that it is this form of "optional" - and that you need to spend 60 bucks to get an optional rule amendment. Hey I have payed my rulebook (at too high costs) and my expensive armybook and now GW realy wants to get more money for some wired stuff ... In my opinion either they charge me o...

Ok, I have not played the scenario often, but I would consider to put a unit of 19 into my rooster - so that a hero can join the defense. Anyway I see the cauldron as a mandatroy thing to stick close by for the rerolls and for the blessings (WS or KB - especially for witches). My idea would be to pu...

I started with Dark, Fire or Death in th 8th. But in the end I am stuck with Metal. As I read the whole thread I was a bit surprised that there are so few voices supporting the metal lore (in the end it is all about the different playstyle and army comp.). From my experience it is the lore that give...

1) Discussion about the tools Yes, the hydra can be killed. It can easly be killed by the right unit. BUT first of all there are very few units that cost less than 200 points that could do the job AND we are masters of movement so should be able to avoid the bad match up for the hydra (exception is ...

Hi, thanks for your assistance. I changed only some minor things on the list (BT with Killing blow and rerolls instead of armour) and ran two games on monday. One vs. the Orks with three rock lobbers and two hordes. The second vs. WoC with 50 merauder, 20 raging nurgle warriors and 8(!) trolls. (fir...

You are right that the magic missles would be a problem if in CC. For the case that the horrors are in CC I plan to use the gift of chaos (?) and the Banner of Change to inflicat damage to the unit in CC. Apart from this (so the theory) the herald will know 6 spells and should be able to use whateve...

Deamons 2000 pts - Thirster and horrors

Hi, the christmas time will bring a nice round of games next monday and as my painting proceeds my Deamon army will gets it first battle in the 8th edition (where deamons seem to be ok and fun again). We play in gernal with the scenarios and 2000 points. This makes up a good balacing as the scenario...

Summary: RXB may not be the best shooters in the book, nor the best combat unit, but I'll put my neck out there and say that they are the most flexible unit we have ... That I would like to support. We are used to have nearly the best missle unit in the game. As the large target +1 gave them a real...

All of you are right, from a higher point of morale :-) But first of all Too Cold feels uncomfortable with this situation. Harpies uses in 8th are limited to "warmachine hunting" and "scavenge" as calisson wrote. Through their mobility and low point cost they could be aslo used as 55 point sacrificial unit: Perhaps add (on occasion) - suicide charges on mages, especially Lv2. With their high I you n...

Interesting that you braught up the meta game. IMO the race for large units will come to an end at some time and will transform to a good mix again (like fashion). But it will take some time. But even with large units I highly value both units and as a surprise they still perform quite well in 8th. ...

Is a feedback scroll worth it these days? I would also be interested in some experience here (not the extreme results that could happen). I think you got the 5+ wrong.
