i missed tge part about the shield actually as you can read above. the combat resalution wasn't really a problem, i either crushed the unit i charged, or just not fight the combat!

They're Dragon food. With four of them, they're bound to be positioned close together. Dragon breath and the ensuing terror test will scatter them. The dragon will probably lose a couple wounds in the process, but that's acceptable, imo. Then you charge the dragon into the rear of his bigger combat...
