Re: DRAICH - Dark Rider Tactics
Very interesting read. Instead of buying the musician, Id rather straight up buy that unit the Fire&Flee Upgrade. Costs less, auto rally and does some shooting. You can take one FF Dark Rider Unit per 1k points. Should be enough. I can’t see where the auto rally is coming from can you point me ...

Re: The Old World - Dark Elves Legacy Army List
My thoughts on the Dark Elves. Great analysis Daeron. Some thoughts on your thoughts. * I completely missed that Hekarti was OPG. I was taking Black Staff as a way to dodge miscast, but now I’ve swapped it to earthing rod and power scroll (with Familiar and Ruby Ring). This still gives you 2 attemp...

Re: The Old World - Dark Elves Legacy Army List
I read the DE book when it came out. Then I went and read a few other books. Empire book is pretty bad, auto-include Steam Tank and Demigryphs - if you don't take these then the only option are knights & infantry but then you might as well play Brets. BUT, the Stank/Demigryph build is fun and w...

Beastmasters are a very cheap way to get a flying terror monster (manticore) and also to make a terror monster special. I think they are very good.Angelizdark wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:17 am yeah it seems incomplete, but on the brightside, Beastmasters are cheap Lords!

Re: The Old World - Dark Elves Legacy Army List
You can chose to use just the Hand Weapon if armed with another non-magical one. Also character with a lance will also use just the Hand Weapon in subsequent rounds if combat. Seems pointless. Rr1 to wound will never be better than the other options. Most heroes will want a magic weapon or a great ...

Re: The Old World - Dark Elves Legacy Army List
Oh wow this is a nostalgia trip. First thing to note is that this isn’t 8th ed. Armour, shooting and melee combat has all been toned down, so it’s difficult to calibrate what’s actually good. That said a few things jumped out at me: Open order corsairs gives them the niche they need. May be worthwhi...

Re: i'm i the only one around here still playing 8th ed.
I was all for T9A when it was still "Nexthammer". Then it did a 90 degree turn and became "Nothammer" and I lost interest. If it works for you, more power to you. Go, play, have fun. I'll stick to 8th. I have no idea what this means. Is it nothammer because it doesn’t use GW IP?...

Re: i'm i the only one around here still playing 8th ed.
I haven’t touched 8th in years and never intend to. T9A is a superior game by far, with the same aesthetic and appeal. I highly recommend trying it if you haven’t already. That being said, ive also just dipped my toe into AoS. Is it the same? No, and that’s true point. I have T9A for massed battle g...

Re: Wait so what happened
Well, you missed the best bit, which was when it turned out Malekith was right all along and was, in fact, the rightful Phoenix King and Asuryan's mortal avatar. All the High Elf Phoenix Kings from Bel Shanaar to Finubar were in fact pretenders and only succeeded in passing through the Sacred Flame...

@Calisson: Where to begin?! I guess I could make a new post somewhere to give some insights to how KoW works... and maybe a battle report (as there is a campaign I'll send a report to soon). The game itself is a lot simpler when it comes to rules, but also a lot more tactics to movements and engage...

@LordDrakon I've literally just seen your post from 2 years ago! Think it's a case of mistaken identity though. For everyone else, I've got a new battle report thread over on t9a forums and will soon update with a 5 game event using my DE. http://www.the-ninth-age.com/index.php?thread/28837-clockwor...

Yeah I'm really tempted to pick up one of each mount and rider.
If I hadn't painfully converted 10 shades a couple of years ago, then I'd totally get them as well.

Re: Project: the future pan-elven website
I, too, missed this websites' heyday as I didn't jump on DE until late in 8th (about a year before the 8th DE release IIRC). Even then, the forum was rife with activity. However I've moved on to T9A, and unsurprisingly all the activity for that is over on their forums. To my mind, Dnet benefited fro...

Re: Lord Drakon Battle Reports
Having looked at the pictures again I just wanted to clarify part of my post above. It was by advancing your Dancers in T1 that you opened up the "blind spot" to their right that the Gernaal could exploit. Once they wer in that position they had to charge or risk the two alternatives I pos...

Re: Lord Drakon Battle Reports
Do KoE still get the conditional 5++ vs S5+? If so taking spears over GW may not have been a bad idea. As a counter to your feedback, consider what would have happened if you didn’t charge the General. If you look at where he is standing at the end of KoE T1, it would have been very easy for him to ...

Re: Lord Drakon Battle Reports
I wouldn't beat yourself up about it too much. I spent all of 6th edition thinking that you couldn't fight in combat after a stand and shoot reaction after someone told me so (it kind of made sense because the models are busy reloading or something I guess?).

I remember you from Lustria-Online when you were doing Lizardmen battle reports! Will definitely check this out. How do you feel about the DE vs VS match up in 9th? Coming at it from the DE side, it often feels like the whole VS book has been designed around killing Elves. There's a plethora of spec...

Re: Ho Hum - this place is dead!
Yeah most of the T9A activity seems to have moved over to their boards and the army-specific sections, where I'm usually at. Productivity wise, I finished painting most of my units two years ago when 8th wound down (has it been that long!), so haven't had much to do besides the odd touch up job, mov...

Re: 4500 pts Dread Elves 9thA v1.2
I'm honestly not sold on the Beastmaster's Lash at all (s5 just doesn't justify the Prince's points cost imho). I'm not sure there's a good build that involves the Manticore and the Cloak as it is difficult to get a decent save, ward, and high strength. You could keep the Cloak and Dragonscale Helm ...

Anyone seen the previous of the new magic paths? I can't get on the T9A forum at work but it looks like these all have been revealed, with Witchcraft and Divination emerging as the leading DE choices. Can anyone confirm?

Re: 2500 9th Age list - back after a long time
I would strongly recommend taking the Cult Priest off of the Altar, and running a separate BSB on foot instead. My reasoning for this is: ⋅ The BSB now on foot can join the Tower Guard, making them Stubborn. This hugely increases their staying power even if they get into a poor combat (wh...
