I think I may be a bit biased based on a freakish dice roll i had a few years ago. The latest Dwarf range had just come out, and I put together a Dwarf throng which included a unit of 12 thunderers. In my first game (against Dark Elves) said thunderers were charged by a unit of Cold One Knights, and...

Well, I don't like the idea of sinking 400 points into one unit. I have always preferred taking smaller units and using them in unison, so that they combine to win combats rather than relying on brute force. If taking one big unit, they can be decimated with a well placed mortar round (or other temp...

Optimal unit size for CoK's?

I have noticed that on many lists people seem to be running units of 10 CoK's. I can see the logic in this, but have always liked having more units of smaller sizes, and 5 is the number I liked to run for cavalry units when I played previously. I am now starting to get my head around these 8th editi...

2) How did you find it?

It upsets me that bolt throwers don't seem to be worth it anymore. I really, really like the look of the model, and as such am determined to find a use for them in my burgeoning army. No doubt experience on the tabletop battlefield will smash the enthusiasm out of me in short order, but I am resolve...

I will never the forget the 40k game I had as Tau against Space Marines. I thought I had had it when my lone remaining crisis suit was caught by an assault sqaud. After the combat my model was somehow left standing - and to add insult to injury killed a space marine. The exact details are hazy, but ...

I went as Che Guevara for halloween this year, and it was remarkably easy! I found a che beret/wig combo for a few pounds on the internet (amazon I think), bought a cheap green army style jacket from Primark, and then bought a cigar to complete the look. Easy! Although this won't help if you want to...

Excellent post!

Does anybody know where I would be able to find out the actual contents of the bill? Even though I live in the UK, this still interests me. If the US does it, then it is likely that many other countries will follow. Sadly google has failed me.

Well I was in Games workshop today and asked the shop assistant, and was told that the best thing to do would be to use the existing range and rules but paint it like the 13th company. Which is rubbish, but hey ho! If I manage to meet people to game with outside of GW, then I am sure I will be able ...

Let me be the first to say that I think those models are fantastic, particularly the warriors. I love the two tone effect you have achieved on the red sections of the armour. Do they carry the mark of Khorne, or do you just like the red colour scheme? Either way, I approve! EDIT:- D'oh! Just noticed...

Can I ask what size army you were playing with when you played with this unit? It sounds like it could be a fun thing to try if games get a bit stale. I am sure the look on your opponent's face would be worth the points outlay at the very least!

Thanks I have been giving this some thought, and I although I still like the idea, I have come to realise just how much other juicy stuff I would have to give up in order to fit the 'phalanx' units into the army. So there seems to be only one solution - amass a HUGE Dark Elves army so I can take the...

Space Wolves 13th company?

Can a Space Wolves 13th company army still be fielded, or do the rules not support this anymore? Apologies if this is obvious; I have been out of the Games Workshop fold for about five, going on six, years now, and I understand a new edition of both Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 have come out both ...

Well Dark Elves would obviously be the superior choice I have always been a fan of Chaos myself, but I always thought they were a bit too easy (probably just the opponents I played though!). I quite like the Empire, but for some reason have never been a fan of the lizardmen. But, at the end of the d...

I am thinking fully gold for the armour, but a dark gold (almost bronze). I would like the robes to be all red actually, so the elves look almost like Spartans. The black I will save for (possibly) shields, and extra robes on characters etc. The chainmail I think should be gold as opposed to silver ...

Thanks!
In that case, could you please knock up a warrior with the three main colours being gold (for the armour) and then red and black for the robes? I am thinking red for the larger part of the robes, with black for the secondary areas. Thanks again, I appreciate it :D

Well it probably isn't much better than your blu-tack idea, but I have always used shoeboxes lined with double sided sticky tape. After sticking a regiment or two down, I then pack it out with those polystyrene packing pieces you get in parcels. Its very awkward, but it does save you the money on a ...

I have searched high and low for the one of these, by which I mean I have googled it and searched on this website Sadly though I have not received Khaine's blessing, and one has not been forthcoming. I would have to agree that Warhammer players love metal - almost all the players I knew/know listened to the genre. I myself listen to metal occasionally, but not exclusively.
