Org structure of the 9th age production. -- link
Here is the link to org-structure of the 9th Age community. It is well organized with, what seems to be, the capacity for the job at hand. http://www.the-ninth-age.com/news/index.php?news/76-the-9th-age-who-is-doing-what/&s=7726089f95a4337b05bc7ec2fd04eaeaa3b1ce1c In particular there is enough r...

Re: ETC/Swedish 9th Age -- looking for people to help.
Well, I joined the forum and am contributing in a very minor way right now. But, there are alot of people on that forum and things are starting to roll a little bit. That said, I am in no condition to make significant contributions right now (full time job, wife and 3 year old daughter), nor am I th...

ETC/Swedish 9th Age -- looking for people to help.
Not sure if the Mods want to move this somewhere else: There is a new forum dedicated to producing the rule set for 9th age (combo of ETC and Swedish Comp). They are looking for people to help with rules etc. If interested. http://www.the-ninth-age.com/news/index.php?news/39-helping-the-9th-age-proj...

Re: 9th Age - ETC & Swedish collaboration rule set
I'm glad that the general tone is positive for 9th age, as we are working very hard to balance the game. As you may have noticed, we try not to deviate too much from the 8th edition base rules, to make it easier for new players who bought the rules to swap out parts, as described in the 9th age rul...

Re: Going 1st or 2nd: maximise advantage / minimise disadvan
One of the reasons why bretonia is so handicapped in this edition is this very issue. One of the main things about these games is risk/reward. Mitigating losses on the first turn deployment is a conservative approach that has a low risk/reward aspect. But sometimes it is good to be agressive in depl...

Re: Poll: What brought you to the hobby?
A community member introduced me to Mordhiem, which I loved. And I won a raffle at the local GW store for a full size Lizardman army back in 1998. My painting skill imroved and was able to win a tourney and sell paintings for profit. Am very sad to see that GW is killing fantasy, but business is bus...

Re: Over to you.
I'd like to bring back "lap-around" from 7th edition. If you win combat, you can choose to bring soldiers from the rear ranks of the unit around to the flanks two at a time on each flank until you get to the rear and then only two at a time on the rear. You got the flank bonus if you lappe...

Re: Strategy Help
Make sure you have a magic weapon if you are facing vampires. Those ethereal units will make you cry if you don't. I like the dreadlord set-up that goes like this: 1) Dreadlord (dark steed, full mundane armor (1+ AS), Giant sword, other trickster's shard, and dawnstone (for rerolling armor saves)). ...

Re: How do you use 10 Dark Riders?
I would have to disagree with Red on a few points on how to field dark riders. I would assume that he uses them his way to great effect, but for me, I have alternate styles for them. I will assume a 2.5K game with 625 pts of core for my reasons. Like I said earlier, I use 2 units of 10 fully kitted,...

Re: How do you use 10 Dark Riders?
At 2.5k I use 4 units of DR like so:
1) 5 shield an musician
2) repeat
3) 10 with rxb, shield, musician
4) repeat.
This still needs a 10 more point command somewhere.
This is how I start every list I make when I don't need to worry about comp scores.

Re: 3000pts First Dark Elves list coming from a Dwarf player
Your reasons for getting into DE is exactly what I wanted to do when I started them 2 years ago. It is what makes the game really fun! I use these models most frequently. 1) full DR core. 2 big blocks of 10 & 2 small blocsks of 5. 2) a big unit of cold ones. 3) warlocks to flavor 4) shades 5) re...

Re: What is the no comp net list?
As the ranks gets boosted by characters (with compatible footprint), so does the +1 to cast. So, adding 2 Peg Masters and a Sorceress on Dark Steed gives an extra rank and +1. IIRC, Pegmasters do not have a comparable footprint to cavalry models. The Peg model is 40mm by 40 mm and two cav models ar...

Re: How to make competitive MSU Executioner 2400 list ?
MSU never really got off the ground in 8th edition. Atleast not like it did in 7th edition. That has to do with three major rule changes. One was that units attack in two ranks, two the "step-up" rule and three, steadfast with big ranks. Combat blocks must grind opponents down, which will ...

Re: How to make competitive MSU Executioner 2400 list ?
I would use alot of shooting as core with some shades. Shades to slow the enemy advance while distracting chaff. 10 elf DR units with xbows and shields for flanking harrassing purposes, and some RBT's for those big gribblies that will T-stomp you execs into the dust. For your lore, death is pretty d...

Re: @$$ Swordmasters of Hoeth destroyed me. How to deal?
Shoot them. They are only T3 with minimal AS. Several rounds of shooting from DR or shades will mince them to a manageable size. Thank you armor piercing! Hit them in the flank. They are, after all, just infantry (M5 or 6 with the swiftness banner and no swiftstride). Bottleneck them. If has a big u...

Re: Do top tier competitive players use Deathstar units?
The bro-star is very nasty. It is also very expensive like most deathstars. For some armies (Ogres for instance) the only competitive builds are deathstars. So that is what you see with them. But for other armies, like DE or Empire or chaos ... more thought has gone into the army books and there are...

Re: 2500 Mobile Death Sorceress and Warlock Bus
Putting anything with the OTS in a warlock unit is not a good idea. But because warlocks do not have full command, I usually don't put anything in them. Maybe a sorceress with MR 1 and a scroll, but I don't put a character wall in them or anything. That is a really expensive unit when those characte...

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
Full DR core. lv 2 scroll caddy (metal) + mr1 steed, Cloak of Twilight pegmaster (BSB), warlocks, 1 unit of shades, RBT's.
Of course this is not even in the same universe as your desires, but that is what I would take to challenge his list.

Re: 2500 Swedish Comp List
A fairly decent Swedish two towers list. A couple of first impressions would be: 1) Shades do not need light armor. 2) corsairs in a big combat block should use xhw. 3) there is no penalty for a lv 2 life mage. You may want to consider this. 4) I would put all the DR into one unit. This would improv...

Re: Cold One Star - life magic sorceress
I use the coldstar alot. But, I don't use it all game. When I want to build an abusive list, I set up an all DR core with warlocks and a coldstar. But, if the circumstances are right, I will move the characters out of the CoK and back again. Because the characters are on dark steeds, they can do ver...

Re: LvL 2 with Arabyan Carpet? Against Chaos.
I use peg knights from the bretonian model set and put cold one knights on them (or just paint the bret knights in a dark elfish manner).
