I think the character has to be in base contact with the unit in order for the Sisters to benefit from Trial of Blades, meaning that if the character is not in base contact with a SoS model, the unit does not gain +1 To Hit & To Wound.

I'd say it's probably because Death Hags are really fragile. 2 of them with Witchbrew is 230 points. They only have 2W each and are T3. Furthermore, the -3 to Frenzy tests might also put some people off.

I think you're referring to a previous rule where enemies shooting at Large Targets received +1 To Hit. This is no longer the case in 8th edition - You do not receive a bonus for shooting at Large Targets. Therefore, they don't.

I love our 8th book. It's got great external balance, and why we have some sub-optimal units i.e. Fleetmaster, Medusa and Scourgerunner, I think the internal balance is good as well. Terrorghiests start with 6 Wounds, so thier scream is 2D6+6. However, they only sport a 6+ Regen as their save. Knock a couple of wounds off and prevent the VC player from recovering lost wounds and it's nowhere near as good.

Nightshroud only affect Models in base contact, so rank and file models that aren't in base contact retain Strength bonuses.

Also, you cannot use the ward save from the Cloak of Twilight against the Terrorgheist scream.

Great advice from everyone above. The only advice I would offer is that a Hydra can be devastating around this point level and upto 1000-1500 too. I would consider one. If you can proxy, all the better. That way, you can see what works for you and what doesn't.
