Re: Sisters of Slaughter & The Trial of Blades
I think the character has to be in base contact with the unit in order for the Sisters to benefit from Trial of Blades, meaning that if the character is not in base contact with a SoS model, the unit does not gain +1 To Hit & To Wound.

Re: Avert Your Gaze & Strength of Khaine
So, even if not within 6" of a CoB, could they re-roll 1's to Wound as a result of Murderous Prowess? I would assume yes.

Avert Your Gaze & Strength of Khaine
I understand that there have been some recent questions on Medusae and AYG, but I didn't see this question covered.
So, if an enemy model fails an Initiative test, can the S4 hit be re-rolled if they are within 6" of a Cauldron of Blood due to Strength of Khaine?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Cauldron of blood and Hag
I'd say it's probably because Death Hags are really fragile. 2 of them with Witchbrew is 230 points. They only have 2W each and are T3. Furthermore, the -3 to Frenzy tests might also put some people off.

Re: Cauldron of blood and Hag
I think you're referring to a previous rule where enemies shooting at Large Targets received +1 To Hit. This is no longer the case in 8th edition - You do not receive a bonus for shooting at Large Targets. Therefore, they don't.

Re: Cauldron of blood and Hag
1) On the Cauldron of Blood page (AB pg47) under the Fury of Khaine rule it states it is not cumulative with Witchbrew, so no. 2) I believe that they shoot at the unit in the case of BS shooting, but with Cannons/Stone Throwers they can single the Cauldron out. It also cannot be targeted directly by...

Re: Black Dragon Tactics
The biggest threat will, of course, be Cannons. As Sangfroid mentioned, this can be mitigated somewhat through target saturation and bringing in other potential cannon targets. You need to make sure you get into combat ASAP in order to avoid all the fire that will be coming your way. However, don't ...

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
With 5-7 attacks, either the Obsidian Blade or Ogre Blade are fantastic choices at mowing down 1+ armour save characters, Cavalry/Monstrous Cavalry. However, both of these make the Hag very expensive, and she is still quite fragile. The other alternative would be the just go with Cry of War to keep ...

Re: Best Units Outside Executioners and Witches
Is your Master a BSB? Is he and your Sorceresses' mounted? Darkshards are probably your best bet, as they can do quite well at range and don't need to get stuck in combat. You also have two great combat blocks and your list is low on shooting, so I favour them much more of CoK or Corsairs in this in...

Re: How to deal with Stegadons
As above, a Cloak of Twilight Master/Lord should out a serious dent in it (and may possibly kill it, but not a guarantee). A Kharibdyss would also do fairly well against it, if you can ensure it survives whilst crossing the board. As it's only Ld6, Spirit Leech is a really good way of dealing with i...

Re: A couple of years into Current DE Book, what do we think
I love our 8th book. It's got great external balance, and why we have some sub-optimal units i.e. Fleetmaster, Medusa and Scourgerunner, I think the internal balance is good as well. Most units have a role in the army and can perform well on the tabletop. We don't have any must-have choices, either....

Black Guard for the reasons that T.D. mentioned. Immune to Psychology is a nice touch, too.
Executioners do get one round of re-rolls due to hatred though, so that could be very useful against Characters, Chariots and Cavalry.

Re: How to deal with Hellcannon ?
You could try whittling it down with magic and shooting and then try charging it with a Peg Lord/Master or a unit of Warlocks.
A Medusa shooting at it is also likely to take a Wound or two off it too.

Re: How to become a Demonslayer?
+1 to Thraundil's post. Reign of Chaos can be a pain to play against and can sometimes be a pain for the Daemons player. Keep important units within BSB range. Daemons are perhaps the most random book in all of Warhammer, you may run into some surprises, both good and bad, especially depending on th...

Re: How to become a Demonslayer?
If your opponent is playing competitively, then he will likely bring in Plaguebearers for Core (S4 T4, -1 to hit in CC) and maybe Pink Horrors (Level 1 Wizards who use Lore of Tzeentch, get bonuses to cast for ranks). In Special, I would expect to see Beasts of Nurgle. T5, 4 Wounds, -1 to hit, Regen...

Fiery Breath. Definitely. Spit fire doesn't have a fixed strength or fixed number of shots and you will most likely need 6's to hit.

I take it you mean Special Characters? As a general rule I don't play with them (only time I've played one for years that I can recall was when I used the Eternity King this Monday) and don't really play with people who do (probably because we all started playing back when you needed your opponent'...

Re: Quick VC questions
Terrorghiests start with 6 Wounds, so thier scream is 2D6+6. However, they only sport a 6+ Regen as their save. Knock a couple of wounds off and prevent the VC player from recovering lost wounds and it's nowhere near as good.

Nightshroud only affect Models in base contact, so rank and file models that aren't in base contact retain Strength bonuses.
Also, you cannot use the ward save from the Cloak of Twilight against the Terrorgheist scream.

Welcome.
Great advice from everyone above. The only advice I would offer is that a Hydra can be devastating around this point level and upto 1000-1500 too. I would consider one. If you can proxy, all the better. That way, you can see what works for you and what doesn't.

Re: 2.5k army list corsairs
Welcome to the forum. Your Dreadlord is very vulnerable. At the very least, I would stick a Sea Dragon Cloak on for the additional protection. You also have a huge magic point allowance that isn't being used. Check out the Tactics forum - I am sure there is a thread regarding Dreadlord builds. I'd c...
