Re: 9th Age v .99 feedback

Already filled out the form, be cautious, that takes more than an hour!
Congratulations of being in the Army Book Support Team @Calisson
What does that role encompass?

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

Obviously, I'll try to finish my Dread Reaper crew first. Next in line would be some characters:

* Captain on Elven Steed
* Assassin

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

@Daeron: Very nice job, I like just about everything on that model. The colours fit perfectly. @Errdrigar: Thank you, I am trying a lot of colour schemes lately and see where it takes me. For some reason the armour on the crew appears to have a copper/brass hue, when in fact they don't at all. Gener...

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

So close, but sadly I missed the target for the February challenge. The first Dread Reaper is complete, but for the second I didn't manage to finish the crew in time. Nonetheless here is the result of my efforts: The finished Dread Reaper https://bleaklegion.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/dsc_5839.jpg ...

https://bleaklegion.wordpress.com/2016/ ... l-dwarves/

Have fun reading and as always, comments and feeback are very appreciated. So far I made 11 9th Age games and have not lost a single one

Re: DarkSky's Battle Reports

Sorry, completely forgot to update this thread with my battle against the Dwarven Holds. Dread Elves vs. Dwarven Holds (2000 points, 0.11 rules): m In the meantime there was also another clash. A huge force of the Dwarven Holds faces an unlikely alliance of the Sonnstahl Empire and the Dread Elves. ...

Re: Dark Acolytes

I'd rather have a spell I can RELIABLY use and not chop too deeply into the PD pool. If I want to cast Bolt of Darkness, I can take it as the default on my L4 and cast it significantly easier. Bolt of Darkness is no longer the signature spell of black magic =] Another pointless change. Sigh. So wit...

Re: Harpies

Unfortunately the statement about the Blades of Nabh (aka Witches) is no longer true, as they lost frenzy. Regarding the Harpies: I never used them, as I don't own the models and always used Dark Raiders for that role. But I keep seeing them more and more, especially in the lists which perform well ...

Re: Back in the (dark) Saddle! Need Suggestions for my army

Somewhere up the top, I read, that more members should write here For 8th edition: * Witch Elves also work very good in size of 12-14 (with musician). Thanks to frenzy they don't panic and if at least 6 models make it into combat you still have 18 attacks. More than enough to clear chaff and do seri...

Re: DarkSky's Battle Reports

I have some more stuff painted: 26 Blades of Nabh, a Raptor Chariot and a unit of Dark Raiders (my favourite so far), but did not get around to make the photos and post updates. Currently I am painting a Bolt Thrower after having spent three month on the Dread Legionnaires. After that I'll probably ...

Darksky I love your reports of the Bleak Legion, great design of the blog with all those pictures! Re: 2400 pts "exec netlist" + thoughts on 9th age (as of .11

Regarding the overall power I agree. But you need to see this in the greater context, almost all strong army books of 8th have been nerfed. Overall I like the balance in 9th Age much better than 8th edition. The only thing I really don't like is the way the Cult rules have been implemented. As it st...

Re: Hydra

Hydra is a total baller now, give it the flame breath upgrade and it can take a charge from most things. I take two!! I will also take two in my monster mash list! I fielded one in my last battle, but led it charge by enemy Crushers which won combat and ran it down. I expect these are the perfect a...

Re: Blades of Nabh

After their move from Core to Special: Did anyone use them, yet? For me they are beyond uninteresting. Sure, on the charge they have hatred + devastating charge. Plus their Lightning Reflexes and Poison this is even better than the Witch Elves of 8th. But all other things got significantly worse. Wi...

Re: Dread Knights

Love them, too. Could not believe they actually triple buffed (T4, cost reduction, Beast Master) one of the units I already played often in 8th edition. Then I despaired, as they took away Path of Nature from our casters. But now (0.11) it is on. Can't wait to field a Raptorstar with Dread Prince, B...

Re: Raptor Chariot

Raptor Chariot The Raptor Chariot is the first chariots of the Druchii and a solid choice compared to similar chariots in the game. It doesn't make it to army lists as often, probably because of the competition with other support units. That doesn't make the Raptor Chariot any weaker however. Sorry...

Re: Tower Guard

Tower Guard The Tower Guards are immune to psychology and often used as bodyguard. This makes them a solid grinding unit, provided one can afford the cost. They are a fair matchup against many units, but will require either a strength boost or the armor piercing banner to make them an all purpose u...

Re: Dread Legionnaires

Dread Legionnaires Dread Legionnaires are the cheapest troops in the book, and used for just that reason: to obtain rank bonuses cheaply, as a bunker for a characters or a shrine or as a cheap reserve. Still, they aren't used for bodies only, as they can hold their ground against other "non el...

I am not quite sure, what the goal of this post is. Do you want to provide a fluffy overview of the army and what options are available in the 9th Age Dread Elves book or do you want to discuss how units are used? The latter I find difficult, as the discussion is better structued in the individual t...

Re: Gladiators (Dancers) of Yema

1. Well for starters, they are called Dancers of Yema, not Gladiators, although I agree Gladiators would be a much cooler name. 2. I don't think they are the least used unit of our Elite Infantry. If I had to make a list, I'd say: Executioners Dancers Tower Guard Blades On to my experience: The Danc...
