Re: Trolling GW the creative way
Thanks guys. The conversion took no time whatsoever - everything just fell together this way. Not a spot of greenstuff was used. I also painted him up over the course of a single off-day, I think it only took me around 3-4 hours excluding drying times and the base.

Re: Raging Heroes Kickstarter is open! Caution NSFW
The one thing I don't really like about it is that the wheels are solid instead of spoked. It detracts from the elegance a bit... Otherwise, this is stupidly good.

Trolling GW the creative way
Ladies and gents, I present to you my newest work, an entry for my FLGS's painting competition. We were each given a monopose Stormcast to work with - I think it's the same one that came with a WD issue - but were allowed to convert it. As you can see from the name, I tried to convey my disdain for ...

Re: VC Spirit Hosts for Frostgrave
Thank you all. I'm entering a model into a painting contest in a bit, and if I actually win I'll pick up the Start Collecting Malignants box as my prize so I can do some more. I'm thinking of varying among the different units of ethereals and of doing some with blue and others with purple, but using...

VC Spirit Hosts for Frostgrave
Been a while since I painted any GW models, so here goes. Some Spirit Hosts which will be used as random encounter monsters in Frostgrave (a better version of Mordheim). https://abrushwithbattles.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/20160705_190101.jpg?w=830&h=467 First off: these are an absolute nightma...

Cool idea, but with the word 'hydra' not being able to be copyrighted, will there even by a Hydra when the (A)elves get revamped?

Re: Gold Paint Advice
I use it on pretty much every gold area I paint, except when I have to do a lot of brown washing on other areas and the latter is more convenient. Here, for example, are some Carthaginian veterans whose gold bits I painted with the recipe: https://abrushwithbattles.files.wordpress.com/2016/05/201605...

Re: Gold Paint Advice
I use retributir armour as a base, wash with druchii violet and highlight with sycorax bronze. Works well.

I'm slowly making my way through the 2nd edition rulebook and so far I'm liking what I see. So incredibly simple to learn.

I'd like some models that are not over the top. Maybe some sort of lightly armoured Elven militia.

Re: New play modes for AoS incoming
I foresee the future: In the fantasy world, there is only war: a never ceasing war between round bases and square bases. Nevertheless, it's a good move from GW. I already reckoned campaign books would be the way forward with the ruleset, but I'm pleasantly surprised with the reinstitution of points...

Re: Orruks.....
True, the yellow colour scheme does a great disservice to the models. What the hell were they thinking? I'm interested to see how they look with well-painted metallic armour instead of all those bright colours. Should make their green skin pop more as well. These 'Eavy Metal versions really look lik...

Re: Orruks.....
hmm. Where to begin? It's a very nice looking, somewhat 2d dimensional, beastman you got there. But considering some of the remarks you made, may I ask what the last models were that you bought from GW? I bought the VC Tomb Banshee (pics on my blog as well as in P&M), and I've recently also don...

Re: Orruks.....
Were 6th edition Orcs that bad, then? I liked almost every model, apart perhaps from the plastic common goblins. But the basic plastic Orc boyz were and are still a good kit, the wolf riders were decent enough, and the plastic chariot offered some conversion potential for other armies. And then the ...

Re: Orruks.....
At least there is a new option for MegaNobz conversions... You could try and use Stormcast Eternals for that, should be a good laugh if nothing else. It's Bubblehammer, and everyone gets a suit of power armour! And the Orc Shaman is holding up a pair of magical leeks! http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/i/...

Re: Orruks.....
As we've seen with the Fyreslayers, GW's sculptors have a hard time getting musculature right, so these heavily armoured Orcs come as no surprise. Just look at the terrible detail on the arms of that shaman of sorts in the last picture... ouch. Still, while I doubt they'll be bought for AoS much, th...
