2250 list - relative newbie to 8th ed

Hi all! I've only played 5 or so games in 8th edition, all but one of which were right when 8th was released. I recently played a game using a list that would have fit much better in 7th edition and got trounced by my Empire buddy. I'd like to have a generic list available for play, but my 3 mostly ...

The candles from the hurricanum model look good (well, and look the same as the ones from the war altar and are cheaper). Those candles look good and I should be able to find skulls from my pile o' bits. Now the problem is I have this idea in my head of a captive being held down in preparation for a...

Cauldron of Blood missing candle side pieces - what to do?

Just like the title says, I have a full cauldron of blood, only without the candle sets on the side. I haven't had any luck perusing a few bitz sellers so far and it looks like if I wanted those bits, I should have ordered them 5ish years ago when I got it like this off of ebay, before GW destroyed ...

11. GW oops-ed and says we can use any PoD die remaining on a fruitless cast to burn them up to avoid the st4 damage. I think this is going to be re-FAQ-ed as soon as people start complaining about it. Even so, the only time this comes into play is if there is a single die left. If you have 2 dice ...

New to Tyranids

I recently won a Tyranid batteforce from a tournament and am looking for good places to go for Tyranid tactics and suggestions for unit building. I am a long time player of 40k and Space Marines, but Tyranids will be quite the new experience for me. I was hoping to find a forum similar to this or th...

Not quite: Hits that would normally be randomized in the unit (shooting or spells) will always hit the hydra. Templates and cannon shots touching the beastmasters' base will hit the individual beastmasters. This is correct. I placed both handlers on one side of the hydra and had them both killed by...

The Warhost of Lord Kashral -- 2000 all comers Druchii

This is a general purpose list that I concocted. It is my first for the 7e Druchii. It is mostly based on the models I currently have painted and a few that I do not to get myself motivated to paint specific units. Heroes 226 - Dreadlord (Lord) - Cold One, Heavy Armor, Shield, SDC, Lance, Pendant of...

4 Power dice on a level 1 is easy. Power of Darkness has a 1/3 chance to generate that on its own.

Next time I am in my local GW I could check for those 2 in one blister for you. If I do find it, I will tell you and we can complete it as a transaction on eBay or somesuch if you want to. Let me know.

Yes, if two units with ASF are in combat, they resolve strictly in initiative order. Whether or not a unit charges has no bearing on who strikes first in the situation. And since Black Guard have I6 and Swordmasters have I5...

Try on ebay, you can find lots there. I would try searching for "necromunda" and "escher" and possible "gangers" for the top ones. I don't quite recognize the bottom one. Is it an Orlock ganger from necromunda? BTW, why are you specifically looking for these? Edit: Now ...

If you put her on a Dark Steed, she does not have to go with Dark Riders. She can still hide in infantry units. Run from unit to unit, whichever is best for her on the current turn!

However, we can get around the chariots as a special choice because we can just have a noble on a chariot and use a character slot. Then the chariot has the added benefit of a bit more punch and staying power, as well as the ability to break ranks!

Hellebron is a pretty good special character and using her allows for Witch Elves as core. This makes it much easier to make a Khainite themed army. That's a pretty nice effect. She is also extremely nasty with lord level attacks (4), extra hand weapon (+1), is frenzied (+1) and Rune of Khaine (+D3)...

I think you will be happy with it. It is a very nice miniature for the time it was created. It doesn't have the amount of detail the new minis have, but it is a great sculpt and a dead ringer for the sorceress on the 5e Dark Elf army book cover. Also note that there is a similar plastic Witch Elf mo...

Shields on the spearelves is usually a good investment as well. If you don't intend on getting kills with them, which you probably won't kill very much, shields will help you survive. Each elf that saves because of the shield will be 1 less combat resolution for the opponent. Even spearelves can cho...

I just looked at my model and the photo here and the model I have does not have a skull stuck on the sword. It could be a variation sculpt or a conversion. In any event, the sword length looks the same on both.

I would say 2 in a 2000 point game is not overkill. 2k games aren't exactly small and you do have the drawbacks mentioned above.

I take magic to mean something cast in the magic phase. Something like the Sword of Might is a magically enchanted weapon, not a pure magic attack.

I am good friends with an Empire player and while he doesn't have a steam tank, we both agree in theory that getting a few wounds on the thing make it much more likely to blow itself up if it does more than one action per turn. Perhaps the fluff reason for not being affected by spells without a stre...

I agree. Cold ones and Manticores are bad choices for a sorceress. Cold Ones because of Stupidity, which can make your sorceress unable to cast and Manticores due to Frenzy, which could put your sorceress somewhere you don't want her to be. As a side note, I would also never put a sorceress on a com...
