Re: Topic of the Week - Your last goals for 2015
I'd like to get some photo editing software on this new PC I have so I can go back to updating my PLOG. Painting wise, I have a few minis to work on for my current Pathfinder game, and then I have a Chaos Blood Bowl Team assembled that I'd like to get started on.

Re: Topic of the Week - Slaves in battle!
I'd say they shouldn't use slaves from a battlefield perspective. In the "Rock/Paper/Scissors" environment of wargames, Dark Elves are meant to be an elite, surgical force. High points cost (back when we still did that) but lots of ability. Giving them cheap cannon fodder slaves kills thei...

Re: Recommendations for mounted sorceress.
My go-to is the Bretonnian damsel, but if she's not an option, my next plan would be to take a sorceresses top half and try to find a mounted bottom half to marry it to, that isn't heavily armored. Slice em and dice em!

Re: [PLOG] Autumn Host by Sabious
You also mention super-thin glazes. I have no experience is mixing or watering down colours. Is this what you suggest? Yes. You should always water down your paints at least a little, a few thin coats gives better results than a single thick one. A glaze just takes that concept to the extreme, to w...

Re: Tournament Rules or League Rules?
I'm not really sure how you can talk about army balance without some kind of points mechanism. But I do know this...as long as I have the models, there's never any game-based reason that I would field Bleakswords, when I could field Black Guard instead.

Re: Tournament Rules or League Rules?
Yea I can see how that could be fun. But that also seems to limit usefulness of some models. Never playing before I have to ask was core just trash? Like how useful were those units really? Cause it seems that Specials, Heroes, and Rares is where people are going to drop most their points then. The...

Re: [PLOG] Autumn Host by Sabious
Also, regarding the drow skin - I might recommend Reaper's color Triads. They have 2 different ones that are designed to emulate drow skin. One has a bit more purple than the other, so it just depends on which you prefer. But you might look into those: One is Dark Elf Skin, Dark Elf Highlight, Dark ...

Re: [PLOG] Autumn Host by Sabious
I would echo everything Amboadine has said, and add that your blending on your cloak would look a lot better with a little more work too. Some of the "edges" between one shade and the next are a little too distinct; the best ways to fix that are to use super-thin "glaze" coats of...

Re: Dark Elf Corsair Ship
I'm going to sleep on it and decide tomorrow - any further comments are welcome though. Honestly, I don't think there's a "wrong" answer here. It's going to look good whatever you decide to do with it. I wasn't aware that it needed to have a base for the mast and such, so obviously that w...

Re: Dark Elf Corsair Ship
I know I'm not "going with the flow" here, if you'll pardon the little pun, but I think I quite like your idea of not basing it at all. I know that means you can't model any waves on it, but that's still my vote, for what it's worth.

Re: Question On Specials?
If I'm doing a Sigmar army with 100 wounds and no named characters, it would be 10 Beastmasters on Manticores.
Of course, I'd need to get 6 more before that's really an option, but it sure sounds like fun to try!

By the way, if any of you don't read that comic (Order of the Stick), it is quite hilarious, and a great storyline too. Free webcomic, tons of awesomeness.

Re: Topic of the Week - Memorable moments in WFB!
Nobody else is doing this yet, so I'll post another old one. My first ever tourney game was against a Chaos Dwarf army, probably about the same time frame - mid 90s. I'd never fought Chaos Dwarfs and didn't know a thing about their army. It was my first experience with "Earthshaker" cannon...

Re: Topic of the Week - Memorable moments in WFB!
I took a turn once playing a friend's Chaos Army several editions ago. This was around 1995 or so, so whatever edition that was. It had a "winds of chaos deck" of little cards. Well, I had a really powerful Lvl4 wizard as my general on a disc of Tzeentch. We each had 3000 points, so relati...

I can't tell which is more impressive - the quality of the work, or the speed of the work. It would take me 6 months to get this far, and still look woefully inadequate.
Very nice work so far.

Re: WFB Reworked and Rebalanced
I think the changes make sense, and seem to address many of the complaints people had with the current list in terms of balance. It would make some of the less popular options (fleetmaster, medusa, etc) more viable and some of the "must -have" units more situational. I'd still say that eve...

Re: Topic of the week - Your favorite dark elf unit
Wow. Excellent question, one I've never really considered. My gut reaction is to say that the Witch Elves are the most iconic DE unit in my mind, so that's probably true. Regardless of the edition and the rules, my army almost always had at least a few of them. I've sold off most of my old Marauder ...

Re: Topic of the week - A new game?
If it's a game that makes sense to me, is fun and re-playable, and lets me use most or all of my existing boys (and girls!) with little or no conversion, and doesn't require a huge new investment in books or modules or templates or whatever, then I'm going to give it a serious look. As for my army's...

Re: Best way to use Hellebron
Well, you really want a bigger unit of witches to get the most out of her. If you do 24, you can use the cauldron frontage to get a 30 unit "footprint", which will allow you to line up in horde formation. Then they can carve a path through pretty much anything your opponent puts out. Just ...

I may have trouble getting all those paints, but I'll see if I can get a few. Either way, that's becoming an impressive list of recipes! I'll prep the skulls and the compile the list this weekend (probably Sunday). Yeah sorry, I use some kind of off-the-wall paints. My paint collection is 5 or 6 co...

Re: I'll try your recipe for painting skulls
I use Vallejo Iraqi Sand as a base, then build up to Reaper Master Series Creamy Ivory and Linen White as highlights. Linen White is just not QUITE pure white, but real close. Then I go back into the recessed areas with GW Brown Wash - Agrax Earthshade I think it's called. Then touch again a few spo...

Re: Topic of the Week - Painting Speed
I'm very flirty with projects and have maybe 10/15 on the go at the same time which stops me getting bored but some models have been 50% complete for weeks maybe months. I do the same thing. Whenever I get "stuck" on a mini in some way - not sure what color to paint a bit, not sure if I l...
