Which units have got the best from 8th?
The topic title speaks for itself. Personally I think high S, High strength units of infantrythat don't have ASF and a great weapon have done the best. But some units in particular stand out to me Bloodletters: (now potentially the best unit in the deamon book IMO, WS5, I5 (I think), S5 with killing...

Any pics? I'm interested in the characters, ratling and rat ogres (are they plastic or the old metal ones?) mainly, but the other stuff is interesting too. Are the giant rats the metal ones? If so I'm interested in them too. I've got Khemri skellies, and a nice converted unit of grave guard made fro...

Another 8th thought to do with hatred
It occured to me the other day that one particular rumour could make hatred (and frenzy, but I'll focus on hatred here) more of a double edged sword than before. One rumour is that after breaking/wiping out an enemy you will now have a choice to either overrun/pursue or to make a reform. Now, assumi...

Make sure your opponent understands that Slaves only use their Rank Bonus when calculating how many slave explosion hits are caused, and not their full number of ranks. A unit of 20 slaves breaking will do as many hits as a unit of 40 slaves breakin. This is all in the Skaven FAQ, so make sure you ...

All probability boils down to one result. 50/50 It will happen or it won't. If you truly believed this you'd have a skaven army consisting only of slaves. If everything has a 50/50 chance of winning, then the guy with the most models is sure to win... Or, it will happen AND it won't. See Schrodinge...

fully possible that you will get the score you need more than twice and equally possible that you will get the score you need less than twice This is where you slip up Red. the chance of getting more than the average is not equal to the chance of getting less than the average. The Average is skewed...

Actually, Timz is right (Well, he's still off by 0.1%, but that's allowed since it's an iterative program). The probability of Killing the mage with 6 attacks is 46.6% Heres why: The probablity of killing the mage is 1 - P(doing no wounds) - P(doing exactly 1 wound) P(0 wounds) = 0.75^6 P(1 wound) =...

Personally I think that the freedom of movement aspect of flyers is fine. As is the hitting hard on the charge. But I think that if they get caught or bogged down they should be pretty much dead, (even dragons). How to achieve this without changing army books though is very difficult. Ideally, they'...

Flyers in 8th ed
I'm interested in peoples thoughts on this as I am surprised it has not come up already. I'm sure most people will agree that currently in 7th flyers are too powerful: they have too much freedom of movement, can move too far and don't pay enough for the ability. Do you think they are likely to do an...

Mono god Khorne list with no bloodthirster, no more than 2 units of flesh hounds and focusing on bloodletters and bloodcrushers? That's a weak list. For daemons it is a weak list. But I would still say it would be plenty competitive. And I very much doubt it would be a walkover for even a properly ...

If the S7 rule is gone in the new edition Cold one Chariots are going to be vastly better then Cold one Knights in army lists that do not include a cauldron. I don't think so. 5 COKs which cost 35pts more still have more attacks, more wounds, a better save, S6 on the charge and better Ld (very impo...

Good point. I had totally forgotten that was why the spears were stubborn. The problems with them are still there though: as Demetrius said, hags are easy to kill, there is still the frenzy baiting, and the unit will still be autobroken by fear. Thinking about it, it seems an expensive and risky way...

Nice answers mate. You've obviously put a lot of thought into this army. I still don't necessarily agree with you but what works for one person doesn't always work for everyone anyway. Just a quick note, the panic I was talking about with the witch elves was for if they are totally wiped out: not ha...

I like the idea, but have a few questions/suggestions: Why no warbanner? Your strategy seems to rely on static CR a fair bit so I see no reason not to include this on one of your spear blocks. I'd suggest making some of your units bigger if you can. The WE units look like easy targets at 6 strong. T...

Am i the onlyone who dont like the rumour of combat allways made in initiative order? Yeah, that one I don't like. BUT I do think that if this one is true then they are bound to introduce some other bonus for charging. Like they did when they brought out 3rd ed 40k. What this could be though I have...

Random charge range worries me. That's probably the one I like the most. It'll bring a whole new dynamic into the game. Yes it will fundamentally change the game, but IMO in a good way. And I doubt it will 'dumb down' tactics as many people fear. The tactics will just have to be different. Most of ...
