Re: How to Paint Minies to look like Marble

I used a marble effect on a Space Marine Chaplain that turned out pretty good. Basically I painted the haft Dark Angels/Caliban Green and then stippled it with a midtone green. I cant remember the exact green but it turned out well enough. For the stippling brush I used a brush that was about to be ...

Updated Shades. I cleaned up the base edges, touched up some rub spots, and added static grass.

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

Those look pretty awesome! I like the "non-uniform" look they have which will definitely make them stand out as shades on the table. The biggest challenge I had were the cloaks, because I didnt want them to look exactly like everything else in the army because as you said, they are suppose...

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

Sabious/Cult - Thanks! I have a little bit of tidying up to do on them but once I got the base coat down the rest went pretty quick. I think for this month I'm going to finish my Cold One Knights. You can see the riders on my PLOG; I just haven't finished the mounts themselves. I've gotten five more...

Re: [PLOG] The Grim Host of Malys the Younger

I know, the camera really catches the flaws the eye misses, like that I forgot to add static grass :? I added some grass last night and I'll touch up the bases/rub spots when I get home from work. Thanks for looking!

Re: [PLOG] The Grim Host of Malys the Younger

My Shades follow the same scheme as the rest of my army except for the cloaks. The mantles were painted Abaddon Black, shaded with Nuln Oil, and highlighted with Eshen Grey. The cloak itself was painted Eshen Grey, shaded with Nuln Oil, and highlighted with Eshen Grey and Dawnstone Grey. These model...

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

Wow, down to the wire but here are my Shades for this month. These models took quite a bit of motivation to get through and I'm not sure what the block was. Either way, they follow the same scheme as the rest of my army except for the cloaks. The mantles were painted Abaddon Black, shaded with Nuln ...

Re: Cold Weather Question

North Carolina, yesterday was 99F but "felt like" 104. For me that is comfortable when it's a dry heat. As Calisson said though, throw in some humidity and its a bit rough. I personally hate cold weather so I will usually transition from shorts and t shirts to pants and t shirts in the low...

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

Taking recommendations for next month - what does everyone think? I'll be painting chariots and spellcasters. So either of those would work as a theme. I have a Cold One Chariot and a couple of sorceresses so I'm good for either or. I suppose Chariot/Calvary would open it up a little more to people...

I can testify to the quality of Army Painter brushes. It seems like their bristles have a longer life span than GW brushes in my opinion.

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE

There's still a few days left in the month 5 models should not be hard to finish, pick a bit to paint each day for 30 min Ugh, still failing. All I need to base coat at this point is the crossbows. Washing and highlighting will be quick and easy. In an effort to motivate me to finish, what does nex...
