Re: Wackiest GW model ever?
That's a better use for the Wood Elf dragon heads than on their dragon. But it sure is an ugly model. Is that circa 4th/5th edition?

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
Actually that was discussed on page 1. In a vacuum the force-multiplier argument can be made. But there are a thousand other examples that are equally valid (ie instead of taking a cauldron of blood, how about you consider Witches in the front and a block of Executioners in the flank as a force mult...

Re: Cauldron Conversion
If give the chance to touch/carry/be near a holy artifact came your way, you'd say no? I'd think bearing that burden would be the greatest of honors and a hundred men would volunteer. Not to mention if I were in charge, the last thing I'd risk is offending my God (a very real and notoriously unforgi...

Re: Cauldron Conversion
It's a busy but well constructed model. I like the scheme however I do have a problem with the theme. It seems illogical to me that heathens would be allowed the honor of carrying a holy relic. That'd be like "hey you Nazi guys, we're going to make you carry the Holy Grail". But aside from...

I'd set them up for a rear charge into any of those units. Except the Phoenix Guard. I hate charging Phoenix Guard.

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
If you've done it right, you've blocked your witches in such a way that they stop 1" away from your chaff but can charge past it next turn. Kind of like they are corner-to-corner except there is 1" between their corners.

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
I played two games with a Death Hag and two without over the last two weeks. One thing I didn't account for - the protection the Cauldron brings to the Witch Elves is a pretty effective points-denial system. It makes it a fair bit harder to get victory points out of those Witch Elves and that's wort...

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
Vulcan - no she does not. I'm not Mr Math-guy either =) But the DRAICH (Dark Elves for Dummies) article on cannons list a 75% to hit which drops to 63% of cannon shots will also wound based upon a 5/6 chance of wounding. Then it's just Ward Saves and damage. Regardless of how good or bad my math is,...

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
Which part? That the Death Hag will likely die? My math says about a 58% chance. Or that it takes 3 cannon balls to destroy a cauldron? My math says 3.2 but I rounded down.

The riders equipment does not benefit the monster beneath.
Dragons want to get into combat. Wizards do not want to get into combat. Mixing the two is not what I think to be an ideal build.

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
I've been playing Legions of Chaos in my local league and I can tell you with first-hand experience, if you can take a cannon, you WILL take a cannon. Holy crap they are awesome. And due to their length, a chariot is about the easiest thing out there to hit and kill. Add to that if 9th edition goes ...

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
That's all very true! But it's valuable to also consider the downsides. - as you mentioned, the Death Hag is a cannon-magnet. Without the benefit of a Look Out, Sir! roll, she has a low life expectancy. - when the cauldron dies, the existing Witch Elves have to fill in that space. Unless you brought...

Re: Dealing with VC defensive lines
I consider relying upon magic as a very poor plan indeed. Instead I'd take as many shooting units as you can and just sit there and pound him with missile fire. Don't advance. Just shoot him. And pour all of that firepower into one unit at a time. This will A] get you a win in your favor because you...

Re: death hag on cauldron magic weapon
You will most commonly see the two of those. However I was playing around with points and noticed that Death Hag costs the same as 25 Executioners with full command plus a magical banner. I've since ditched the cauldron and now have an Executioner body-guard which I use similarly to an Empire detach...

It's hard for me to tell much about your models because the pictures look like they were taken underwater? From what I can see you're off to a pretty good start (though I'm not a fan of blue elves - maybe that's a Cthulu thing?). Keep sending us more pictures!

I run a similar build in my list and it is very viable. However I am completely ignorant regarding what the ETC permits and denies so while I can confirm its use in Warhammer games, I cannot provide an informed opinion of how they will function in a different environment.

Re: Cloak of Twilight - mundane halberd or great weapon?
This is my personal opinion but if you aren't charging with him, you're using him wrong. And if his job is babysit a unit of Executioners, equip him differently and get him off the horse so he can benefit from a Look Out, Sir! roll.

Re: Cloak of Twilight - mundane halberd or great weapon?
If your Master is not mounted, I wouldn't equip him with the Cloak of Twilight at all. However if he is mounted, I'd equip him with a lance and forgo either the great weapon or the halberd options.

Re: Shroud of Despair ?
I like what you're attempting but that's definitely way too much fuzz. Unless you have outstanding painting skills, that will turn into a big mess. It could be a good effect though so I wouldn't say get rid of it entirely. The crown in her hair looks wrong and throws off the whole model for me. But ...

Re: Dark or Death?! First time vs undead legion
The thing about the Lore of Death is Undead in general suck without characters to lead them. Skeletons and Zombies just aren't winning combats. So for every spell you get off, you have a chance to A] reduce your opponent's magic phase, B] reduce your opponent's close combat phase, C] get victory poi...

Re: Reaper Bolt Thrower placements
Unless there is an obviously good choice of where they should go, I often struggle with this as well. But when you understand what you want to use them for, instead of just randomly placing them you can actually put them in more useful places. And that quite often depends on the enemy you are facing...
