Re: [PLOG] Apocalypse Drow!
The camera can be very cruel indeed. I think you have given these a good go! I agree with Ambo, your first mistake is the colour of the rider and horse, they look to similar. I think if you made the horse a darker colour this would really help the model. Yes, I was actually just saying the exact sa...

Re: [PLOG] Apocalypse Drow!
Not too bad at all overall. As you have asked for some improvement areas my only comments are that the skin tone and the horse look fairly similarly coloured, I might have tried to break up the colours a little more myself and possibly not gone red next to purple. I agree - I think I need the horse...

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
I love Dark Sword minis. Big fan of their stuff.
And I have no doubt you'll make it look great too.

Re: [PLOG] Apocalypse Drow!
Here are some Warlocks I did much more recently than most of the stuff you've seen on here so far. And I'll be honest, I felt pretty good about them when I finished them. I got them done in time to field them for an event last year, and they performed very well on the battlefield, and a few people e...

Re: [PLOG] Apocalypse Drow!
OK (finally) time for more updates. I've been doing quite a bit of painting since the last update, the reason I haven't posted more pictures was that I got a new PC, and it didn't have photo editing software that I felt comfortable using. Well that has changed. So my next update will be another old ...

Re: NEW YEAR PAINTING CHALLENGE
Here are my "before" pics on my assassin. He was a paint strip/repaint, which is why you might be able to detect a hint of fleshtone under the white primer. I also am noticing with these pics that the primer is a bit thick. Hopefully that doesn't affect the final outcome too badly. I guess...

Re: Painting in the New Year!
As long as you make a generous timeframe for completion, I'd be up for whatever people choose to do. Single model champion sounds fun.

Re: First of the AoS existing races launch
The models look great but overpriced, but without a serious rules set to support them, great models are nothing more than that. We'll see how things progress, of course.

Re: Topic of the Week - Your hobby resolutions for 2016
I'm actually dreading it. I get that the game will eventually die without new blood, but at the same time I don't trust GW to do right by it either. They can make all the new minis they want - I probably won't buy them because they'll be overpriced and I don't need them anyway. But the rules have be...

Re: Topic of the Week - Your hobby resolutions for 2016
I don't do "resolutions", but my intent is to start and finish 2 Blood Bowl teams (Chaos and Amazon), and for my Dark Elf Army, a unit of Witch Elves, so I can put some more of my older ones on eBay.

Re: Topic of the Week - How do you like to play?
I will not field unpainted minis. I also require "real" terrain and scenery. I also will not play without a typed and printed army list - I don't go for handwritten nonsense that nobody can read. I'm not super strict on WYSIWYG, but a unit needs to be easily recognizable as what it is supp...

Re: Topic of the Week - Your terrain building experience!
I took a class on terrain building one year at GenCon and we built some stuff there. I built a hill that was decent but nothing extraordinary. The class was neat but I don't have some of the tools they used and have never really seriously considered buying it. Most of my WH occurs at game stores whe...

Re: Topic of the Week - A new woman / female character?
Maybe a strong willed Shade woman with questionable loyalty to the Witch King? She could be a renegade (even more than most shades) with she and her band being hunted by the "rightful" rulers of Naggaroth (or wherever we are now), but they can never seem to catch her. She'd be mostly for f...

Re: Topic of the Week - Pick your favourite Realm !
I think it would be cool if future editions of WH (or whatever it morphs into) move Dark Elves underground like the Drow. Don't think it will happen but I for one would support it, if it did.

Re: Topic of the Week - Are you a planner or keep it ad hoc?
For one-off games, I very much cater my army lists and strategies to the opponent. We often don't decide scenarios until we get there, but if I know I'm fighting dwarves, that will affect everything about my preparation as opposed to fighting high elves for instance. It will affect terrain placement...

Re: Topic of the Week - Airbrushes and you!
I don't own one, and I'm not sure I want to. I've never used one, and don't know how. They look like a lot of time, effort, money, and work. I get the impression that in the hands of someone with artistic talent, they're useful. But I also know that I don't really have much artistic talent. I have t...

Re: Mini holder for painting.
25mm scale I just hold by hand, oftentimes I found the holder got in the way more than anything. With 15mm scale I glue the minis to a big popsicle stick. I can often fit 4 or 5 infantry models on each one.
