Re: 9th Age - ETC & Swedish collaboration rule set

I do not think "serious tournament experience" is needed. This game is not only for tournament players but for casual gamers as well. There should be someone in the team to care for those as well. If you know what players generally want and what would alienate them in turn, you would be a ...

Re: Lost colony chronicle - 9th age against Swordmaster!

@ Lord Drakon: Well, I am aware Swordmaster is a far better player than me when implementing MSU tactics. However, this can be mitigated somewhat if one is cautious enough. Not that I claim I managed to do so. I just think that there are far better ways how to bleed me points than to kill this over...

Re: Lost colony chronicle - 9th age against Swordmaster!

Well, I am still a Dark Elf player. I will try some other race from time to time to get a perspective but those are only temporary detours. Quite a lot of possibilities have opened, indeed. The archmage on star dragon is one. A grifon prince might be strong but so is a manticore dreadlord with CoT. ...

Re: Lost colony chronicle - 9th age against Swordmaster!

Lost Colony versus HE Outcasts Greetings, something is going to happen in this long-neglected blog again! On friday, using Universal Battles, I had the pleasure to play against no one else than the renowned Swordmaster of Hoeth, one of the best reporters on the internet, a long-time proponent of MS...

Re: Lord Drakon's Battle Reports

Awesome! My time is unfortunatelly scarce these days so I cannot promise comments (let alone deep ones) but I will definitely read anything you are going to post. Regarding your demons battle: He does move within 1" of them with the other unit (why is this?). I think his aim was to limit your r...

Re: Building armies without GW

Thank you for mentioning it. The article is from 2013 - any new info about this? Two years of perfect customer service would be a good sign. Anyway, in this case, it has probably sense to buy from 3rd party resellers. Battlefield Berlin , for example, seems to have most of the Mierce products in sto...

Building armies without GW

As you have surely noticed, the morale among players is low these days. Many are claiming WHFB is a dead game with no chance of a long term survival. One of the reasons often cited is that allegedly, there is no way to build armies without the GW supply. The aim of this post is to fight this thought...

Re: Tactical Challenge - Deployment

How many points is this? Seems quite a lot. 1. shades positioned to grab the house. With a -3 penalty to shoot at they will be very difficult to get out and reducing the number of any unit will be welcome. 2. WE (or another fighty infantry of choice, we have many possibilities here) southern of the ...

Re: Going 1st or 2nd: maximise advantage / minimise disadvan

Going second gives you a great freedom in your last turn because your opponent will do *nothing* that you do not allow him to. You can put a lone sorceress right in front of his uber unit and still lose nothing. No need to worry about charge arcs, spell ranges and whatever anymore. This can allow fo...

Re: Druchii.net 1st Universal Battles Tournament Results

When for each decision, there will be several eyes to look for weak spots and several minds to discuss possibilities, how is anyone going to make a mistake? Such a thing could be fun but I fear it would be extremely time-consuming for the organizer. A tournament is far better in this regard. Alterna...

Re: Druchii.net 1st Universal Battles Tournament Results

A pity that the fourth round did not work after all. I was looking forward for the battles... mine including. Nonetheless, I had a very good time and the chance to play a wholly different list than usual was very sweet. So thanks to all - the participants and especially Amboadine for all the bookkee...

Re: Poll: What brought you to the hobby?

I should probably start. I was actually introduced by two community members. First, some ten years ago, a friend who was playing told me some stories about his glorious conquests and I thought such a game might be fun. As I am no modeller, though, I did not start it actually - until Rowena started p...

Poll: What brought you to the hobby?

Just for fun and to hopefully ignite some light discussion and nostalgic memories. There are many claims about the end of Warhammer et cetera so I thought it might be nice to look back at the happy beginning times. Note that the question is NOT about what did you like on the hobby but rather how did...

Sorry for not making it clear. Basically, there are two guards in your way. He can probably dispose off one of them silently but hardly both. So you have the opportunity to come up with something clever. :) (and more importantly, to actually *do* something)

Anyway, I will be almost without internet for the next two weeks so you should have enough time to react. :)

Re: Light Magic : Kharibdyss or Cold One Knights ?

I say go for the khari. Your army list is somewhat short on high strength attacks as far as I know. While knights are good in this regard, a khari is even better. :) It is a model that you can park in a unit of knights, provided there is no high strength hero, and it should chew them down eventually.

Hey, was the deadline not supposed to be today at midnight? Does not matter, though. My story exceeds the limit by more than 100 words and I really have no idea where I could cut without it losing sense. So here I present a bonus story, not part of the competition but hopefully worth reading anyway....

I would like to fight a fourth battle. I want my second place!!! Trying to find time to play might be hard in the coming weeks, though. Especially if I am paired against Knighted of KillerK who seem to be very busy. If we settle on not playing one more battle, I am fine with it. The third place is a...

Re: need some ideas

Is the tournament held under the 8ed rules no matter what? If not, all the more reason to go full on fast cavalry. Other units might shift in their value depending on how their rules will be reworked but you should always be able to run in circles, charge the enemies you can break immediatelly and s...

LADRY The fire mage did not pay much attention to the planning. They knew nothing, how should they prepare a plan anyway? She was still exhausted from the outburst of fire she had created in the battle not that long ago and she was not in the mood for this kind of babbling. "I think he will com...
