Cheers guys Keep forgetting to update this... I have done a bit more work on the Manticore. This is my first go at proper greenstuffing (Ive done the odd cloak, bit of fur, but it was all basic) and bugger me its difficult! I have so much admiration for all those who just knock entire models up from...

Once it dries try to sand it off a bit

Thats only the first layer, to hold the shape together...this is very work in progress. A lot more to be done :)

The back is indeed from the IoB Griffon.

Thanks for the replies,

The Flying Lion of Doooom! Manticore conversion blog

Hey, Some of you may remember my Dark Elf army, The Heartless. I've planned to add some more stuff to them this year, even if I dont really intend to play with them all that much. I've been talking about a Manticore since the middle of last year and with my new found love for getting battered at thi...

Hey, I havent posted on here in ages, but came over to share my newest project...and as it happens, there are already some people doing similar things There are some nice works and ideas in here. I am personally not keen on the using the Griffon claws for the Manticore. My new thread is going up now...

Hey, Decent effort here. My main suggestion would be to decrease the starkness of the highlights. Instead of jumping straight from one colour to the next, mix them for progressive highlights and the end result will look a lot more natural. Also, for the basing, you may want to add the odd rock or so...

Open for some Commission Painting...

Hey, I dont know if this is allowed here but... Im interested in taking up some small comission jobs. I have a bit of spare time on my hands and am looking for some extra cash. I am based in the UK, some of you may have seen my work on the WFB Tournament scene. I have been painting for years and hav...

Why is this in Painting & Modelling? I worked full time at GW for 2-3 years. I mostly enjoyed my time there, especially when the hours changed to 12-6 and the salary stayed the same (opening hours are longer again now) & also weight orders, which again have gone. Anyway, the 10 commandments ...

Hey, get the old GW Dragonmaster Dragons. They are cool models, and pretty small. My mate used them as Great Eagles in his High Elves. Think you might still be able to get them from GW...though saying that, probably not anymore!! I'll have a look later, on my phone at the moment. Also, in one of the...

Cheers mate,

I'm a big fan of bright or pastelly colours. Anything that looks somewhat fruity tends to be good actually!

I won't actually be using the rubber duckie. Bright colours are one thing, squeezy plastic bath toys are something else!

I know what the scale is, and for some LotR models it works...

But I have seen these in the flesh and they would look like children riding ponies in a WFB army. Your funeral though :P

Sorry but I have to a bit of criticism here. The waistline looks far too "busy" like you've been trying to cover the fact that Keeper's waist is much thinner than the big tyranid thingy tail and they don't really fit together. I really like the idea though, top notch there! Yeah I agree 1...

Hey, I think your conversions & hand made banners are awesome. Really high quality. A lot of very inspiring stuff you got there mate. However, I don't think the painting is of the same quality, the Sea Dragon Cloaks & Cold Ones in particular seem a little flat, and if nothing else could real...

I had considered attempting a similar conversion some time ago. Im kinda glad I didnt now. It looks cool as a conversion and as Layne says, would work fine as a Pegasus (wrong base size though). Its far to small to work as a Manticore im afraid mate. I did have ideas about bulking the body out with ...
