I just had a revelation

So Malekith is a horribly burned, twisted figure, permanently sealed inside his armour which can never be removed.

There's something else in the GW universe that is very similar dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn! the Thousand Sons!!! :burns:

Or maybe I should lay off the coke zero. ;)

The old Citadel "Foundation" paints

As my pots reach their inevitable emptying, it's time to start looking for alternatives. Has anyone tried their new citadel replacements? (I believe they're called "base" colours now). Or do any other manufacturers make a similar go-straight-on-over-black-primer product?

New Elf horsies

Had the opportunity to see the new warlocks/dark riders up close for the first time yesterday. I didn't think it was possible for elf horsies to be uglier than the stoopid punk-mane duck-beak version, but oh boy I was wrong. Somebody please tell me that there's a way to get rid of those ridiculously...

I can only guess that it's quantity as well as quality. Daemons only have two shooting units - the aforementioned Khannon, and Flamers, which are unquestionably the worst unit in any army ever made.

Re: Good GW Games

Oh yes Chaos Gate! I forgot about that one. I quite enjoyed it at the time. Also Final Liberation for players of Epic, I had fun with it. And the original Space Hulk (and Vengeance of the Blood Angels) from way back in the mid '90s. I couldn't even get past the tutorial missions Apparently there's a...

Re: Good GW Games

SotHR had a very steep learning curve IIRC. I had it on the PS1 and I don't think I ever managed to get very far. Mark of Chaos was a poor Total War clone. Bad story and terrible gameplay. Don't bother with it. If you're really after that sort of game, find the warhammer mod for M:TW2 (there should ...

Re: PS4 vs. X1!

Truth be told, the only reason I chose the PS3 over the X360 was because the PS3 was blu-ray. Yes, that really was the deciding factor. For reasons of full disclosure, I should point out that I also have a PS1, PS2, PSP and Vita, so I'm probably an accidental Sony fanboy I'll be reserving judgement ...

Re: RXB suck. Ya, I said it.

Missile fire in WFB has always been underwhelming compared to all other forms of causing direct damage. The trick is to realise that you shouldn't be using it to cause damage, but rather to control your opponent's movement. If he religiously avoids deploying across from your RXBs where there's no co...

Re: So What Dark Elf items do you think Will get the Ax

Ex axe and Black Amulet have been staples of the DE mythos since 4th edition; I suspect they'll stay purely for thematic reasons if nothing else. Given that, I'd also suspect that the pendant will go, simply because the BA fills the ward-save-item role. But then again, the current designers seem to ...

Just more evidence of GW's inconsistencies. ASF vs ASL? FAQ - High Elves always get ASF because army book trumps rulebook. Hatred and mounts? FAQ - Dark Elf mounts don't get hatred because rulebook trumps army book.

Wankers.

I don't think 40k and fantasy can be directly compared, as - superficial similarities aside - they are different games in totally different genres.

Most bows are fired only from the verticle position because it is important to aiming; I've read online that bows are only fired horizontally in movies and games. Crossbows are almost always fired horizontally. Key reasons include easier loading (the bolt sits on top of the bow) and easier to hold ...

Modelling wise, I agree with eriktheguy. The vertical RBTs are unbalance and look like they would shoot either directly into the ground or straight up in the air. All mine are the older style. Not that I ever actually field them Bolts are great against any enemy with a low W score in ranks, because ...

Re: Warriors of Tzeentch

I estimate my opponent saved 75-90% of 5+ ward saves that he was forced to make. "hope my opponent rolls worse," Basically, yes. Statistically speaking, he should only pass 33% of them. The only thing I can really suggest is that if you can't negate saves, then you have to try to force yo...

I dimly recall there was something in the original WFRP about Elves and a sleep-substitute which was rather unimaginatively called Bran-Wa-Shin or something like that. But I don't remember details. What it all comes down to is - go with whatever you need to make the story happen. Few readers would q...

TBH I haven't even touched it. Aside from some BB Ogres I haven't actually painted anything in about six months. I think it's lack of gaming - I'm lucky to get half a dozen games of toy soldiers over the course of the average year, and that's all games - fantasy, 40k, historicals, etc etc. Mostly I'...

How do you protect your ex-axe lord from being mashed into a thin red paste before he gets to strike? Back in the days of 4th ed the ex-axe/black amulet lord was de rigeur, but now at 80 pts if you've got the axe you don't have the points left for a decent ward and relying on armour saves against th...
