Re: WoC double disclords
He's a pain but certainly not the worst thing I've ever seen. The disk is a war beast so he is considered "cavalry" and thus can be Killing Blow'd (though I wouldn't recommend it). He has to generate active combat resolution or he breaks from combat. So he's not very good against ranked up...

Re: Dark Elves and Magic (non-Khaine).
The reason why I can get by with a level 2 wizard to dispel is simple - the spells that I don't want going through usually go through using 6 dice which I more-than-likely won't stop anyway. Do I let more spells through than I would otherwise? Sure. But I'm also bringing a lot more stuff onto the ta...

Re: First Dark Elf army 2K
In that case I'd give the Supreme Sorceress a Dispel Scroll or the Ring of Hotek. You'll want your BSB to be more survivable so don't give him a Warbanner but the Dawnstone and the Ruby Ring of Ruin instead. Start ever magic phase off by throwing a die or two at the ring and blast away his chaff - y...

Re: Best Offensive magic arcane item
The Cloak of Twilight offers no protection from the Forbidden Rod. It's a great item if you have a cheap goblin wizard to sacrifice but I wouldn't risk a 300 point model on it.

Re: First Dark Elf army 2K
Welcome aboard!
Are these all the Dark Elf models you own? Because I'd make some pretty substantial changes if you've got a wider variety.
If you are playing in the End Times, you can make a really tough army mixing your two model ranges.

Re: Dark Elves and Magic (non-Khaine).
Not taking a level 4 wizard saves a LOT of points. I bring a Cauldron of Blood for a nice bound spell that I throw a die or two at near the beginning of the phase just to draw out some dice. If it goes off, great. If it doesn't, I really don't care (unless I'm hitting my Cold One Knights or Executio...

Re: Dreadlady Talviel's Warriors
Typically if two different things are made of two different materials, you'd paint them differently in some way. I like the color but the two exactly side-by-side like that doesn't look right. Unless the riders are wearing shirts made of horse-tail hair.

Re: [PLOG] Daeron's Blues
I don't think you *have* to do any of those things. You can paint the harness/barding thing leathery brown or metallic instead of blue and use a simple grey for the cloth. The blue runes, which look quite good, are all you need for your theme color. But you make a valid point - adding the rider real...

Re: [PLOG] Daeron's Blues
The model isn't done yet and you've already applied the same blue color to three completely unrelated materials on the model. The blue is over-done (which is too bad because the rune-thing looked pretty good).

Re: Best magic lore when facing HE?
Throw up Throne of Vines early - your opponent will either waste dice to dispel it or you become virtually immune to miscasts. Then throw six dice at Dwellers Below. Regrow troops as needed. Never underestimate the staying power of +4T elves!

Re: Dealing with sisters and frosties
Sisters of Averlorn are a great unit but so are Darkshards. Their shooting is comparable (though a fair edge to the Sisters) however the Sisters are a Rare choice while Darkshards are core and Darkshards can bring command - I have no reservations about throwing them into combat so I find them much m...

Re: How to defeat Empire ?
Empire is hard to categorize because they are the only race with more viable builds than we have. Magic heavy, gunline, all mounted, all infanty, horde army, a mixed army; you never know what to expect. So instead focus on their weaknesses. Empire troops, aside from Demigryph Knights, are pretty bad...

Re: Best magic lore when facing HE?
Life is a VERY solid choice and likely the best. Dwellers Below just crushes elves and the Banner of the World Dragon doesn't protect against it. Plus bringing back your own troops and healing your monsters is just awesome. It's hard to go wrong with the Lore of Life.

Re: How to paint fire ?
One thing to add - if you want the appearance of "glowing" hot, you need a fast transition between the hottest spot and the nearby cooler spots. On Cult of Khaine's picture above, the head dress feathers appear so striking because they are white-hot at the helmet but quickly cool to dark b...

Ignore my previous comment, found the link below.
Interesting color scheme though I'm not a fan of the bronze halberds. If your elves are in the bronze age, they should be using bronze for all their metals. Though in my opinion they should be well beyond that state of technology in general.

If using the Khaine rules, Hand of Glory can boost their ballistic skill. I've seen what it does to a pack of Razordons...it isn't pretty.

Just an FYI but DE warriors can't take a Warbanner.
I'm still not used to Khaine rules but it occurred to me, the most obvious counter to this character is Arcane Unforging.

Re: dealing with broken 3++ chaos lord disc man
Try and put pressure on him with some RBT shots so he rushes into combat and then beat him with combat resolution. If he charges in and does no damage because he runs into someone with a Ward Save, you have a very good chance he'll break and run. For added insurance, bring a Kharibdyss. Run a Dreadl...

Not even a Greater Demon wants to touch a horde of Executioners. And you can't regenerate Killing Blow. I'd stick a Lore of Life wizard in there with the Black Amulet and they'll wreck anything they touch.

Re: The Red and White Legion
I'm sure everyone here by now knows I'm not a fan of the 'Paris Hilton matchy match' look of an army (she dyed her dog's fur to match her handbag...) but I like the color scheme other than that. Some variance in the red might be nice to that metal, cloth, scales, wood, and leather don't all look the...
