Re: Warhammer Renaissance . What to expect?
I played the game this evening and I lost. I may have had a little bad luck, but I also misjudged a couple of things when building my list. At the last minute I split the unit of Dark riders into two as I thought it would give me more options and give him less of an easy target. His list included 8 ...

Re: Warhammer Renaissance . What to expect?
So, after studying the rules better, I've come to the conclusion that DE have a rather big disadvantage in the matchup with High Elves. Specifically their elite infantry is exceptionally good. Every regiment I have, he has too, but better or cheaper. Most of the elites have higher initiative than Da...

Warhammer Renaissance . What to expect?
Hi all, I am planning on playing a friendly game of Warhammer Renaissance 1000 points against High Elves soon. WR is an unofficial ruleset based on 4th edition, but with a couple of tweaks which should decrease the overpowered characters and improve the viability of troops. I am glad to be able to p...

This seems to be a 3D printable model (to print yourself). I don't know where the original design comes from, but you can get the files here:

There is also the eefl forum (8th edition for life). It covers all factions and is relatively active, although, as the name implies, it is limited as well.

Re: Original metal manticore (6th edition army book) base si
You mean changing/ converting the position of the wings, so they point more upwards?
That's a great idea too, but in my specific case it won't help. The wings already point upwards, haha.
It's this one: http://solegends.org/citdragon/ds1lava/index.htm
It's pretty wonky-looking and it's only cool because it's old, to be honest.

Re: Original metal manticore (6th edition army book) base si
Thanks for the replies.
Good idea to put banners on older monster. I still have a (very) old lava dragon from somewhere in the 80's. I figured I could paint it up as a black dragon, but it's tiny compared to the newer dragons.

Re: Speed Painting Warriors?
Of course, you can paint them as complicated as you like, but generally they seem pretty straightforward to paint and you should be able to get a decent result speed painting them. I don't know about the level of your paint skills, but silver drybursh over black undercoat and then adding some skin t...

Re: Original metal manticore (6th edition army book) base si
And what base size did the dark pegasus come with in 8th? I found an overview on the eefl.forum that said 40x40mm, but that seems awfully small.
Considering regular cavalry comes with 25x50mm, it seems appropriate to mount it on a 50x50mm.

Re: Original metal manticore (6th edition army book) base si
The metal manticore came with a 50mm x 50mm base indeed. I recently assembled mine:
http://druchii.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=78742
Interestingly, I found this page on the eefl forum, where the base size for 8th is mentioned as 50mm x 100mm..
This would mean that the latest manticore came with a different base size.

Re: [PLOG] Bobba Looba’s Dark Elves
It's been a while since the first post, but have some progress to show. So I did not win the recent painting contest with the Manticore above, but I did come in third. After the manticore I started on some Dark Elf Long Swords from Raging Heroes which I plan on using as proxies for Executioners. I f...

Re: [PLOG] Bobba Looba’s Dark Elves
Thanks! That's some great advice. I actually did many of those things (glazing a little red on the skin and purple on the armour, the scales were highlighted, the manticore's eyes are yellow and the rocks were given some brownish wash), but looking at the pictures again, I now realize, that it just ...

[PLOG] Bobba Looba’s Dark Elves
Here I’ll post my progress regarding my DE army. I’m starting off with a manticore which I just finished. I plan on entering it in a local painting contest. I even tried my hand at some non-metallic metal for the first time. Comments and criticism is appreciated. There deadline is in a couple of day...

At the moment it's mostly painting. We did try our hands at a couple of small scale test-battles, although he has Wood Elves and is losing interest in playing them, beause they are quite difficult to play well.

I am Bobba Looba
Hi all, I’ve been hanging around here for a while now, but hadn’t properly introduced myself yet. I wanted to share my progress as I rebuild and finish my Dark Elf army. I think the best place for this is the Painting and Modelling section, but first a little introduction. I am a returning player an...

Yes, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
By the way, I tried the liquid green stuff, but wans't really thrilled with the result. Anybody has some tips on how to use that?

Re: Pinning the Manticore Beastmaster
Well, I gave it a try and.. it did not go as good as I hoped. But still ok, I guess. Drilling the upper arm was hard. The small rim around the hole in the upper arm kept crumbling and losing material, so it's about 2-3mm shorter than it was. Which is about 1/3 of the upper arm. Luckily, you don't re...

Pinning the Manticore Beastmaster
Does anyone have experience with pinning the arm of the beastmaster on the old manticore?
It has a very small connection and it already came off when I used only superglue.
I'd like to try and pin it, but it is so thin, I'm not sure it will work.

Welcome Arzarthanian, I feel the same thing, about coming late to the party. After finally deciding to start up the hobby again after many years, I came here a couple of months ago only to learn about the changes that were made to the game and the discontinuation of Dark Elves. Real shame as you can...

Re: Warhammer the Old World
There is indeed no need to speculate, since pretty much nothing is knownexcept that GW is working on some game based on the world which Fantasy was based on. Since this may bring back some old rules, armies or units, it could increase interest in the old factions, such as Dark Elves. What I'm intere...

I don’t see any posts on the forum about the announcement for Warhammer Old World. warhammer-community.com/2019/11/15/old-world-new-warhammer/ The announcement is around a year old, but it doesn’t seem to have been picked up here yet? Without getting into speculation as to what the game would be. Wo...
