I did these about fifteen years ago. The paint job isn't as bad as the photography.

It may just be the angle of the photo, but it looks like it just dived chin-first into the rocks.

Awesome job nonetheless. I wish I could paint half as well as you.

FWIW I did a base of blood red and highlighted it with black covered in scab red, then gave it a covering of quickshade. End result was:

Looking for paint the colour of dried blood

Looking for a really deep blackish-crimson colour for painting dried blood. Not real blood, but Hollywood blood, which is much more dramatic. As near as I can tell, neither GW, Vallejo or Tamiya make what I'm looking for. Any hints, or am I going to have to try mixing my own?

Each individual squad is totally independent for all purposes, so far as I know.

They also have a special rule about combining the Infantry squads into one (or more) larger squads. These combined squads, again, count as a single unit for all game purposes.

Bit of a segue here, but fire nation soldiers would make some pretty cool chaos warriors.

Thought of another one already...

Does the Valkyrie come with the bits required to make a Vendetta or do I need to get the Forgeworld kit?

Couple of IG questions

After some 15 or so years of haphazardly collecting IG without any real plan in mind, I'm starting to rebuild them with the plastic Cadians and I've got two questions... 1. What weapons are good for basic infantry squads? Flamers and grenade launchers have the advantage of coming in the box. Just on...

With the step-up rule of 8th, hitting first or second doesn't really make a whole lot of difference unless the enemy unit is quite small.

When 4th ed first came out, all BTs were priced at some fairly low level like about 30 points plus crew - meaning ours was 50. About 5th or 6th High Elf book, the whingeing from non-elf players was so loud that GW just arbitrarily doubled the total cost of elven repeating BTs to 100, whilst leaving ...

IIRC, summoned daemons in a CSM army (as opposed to any daemons in a daemon army) can do it, and since they have to be summoned within 6" of an icon they will never scatter.

Pity they aren't hugely fantastic in assault.

The suicide snipe-charge (needs a better name...)

I've seen this mentioned once or twice, but I've never seen an in-depth discussion of it. The tactic is fairly simple - a small, disposable unit charges into a high-value target to neutralise it asap. The sniper unit is not expected to survive, but so long as you kill an enemy mage, or BSB, or whate...

Waltz into a private meeting with the king and come out saying the king has poisoned himself?!? WHAT WAS HE THINKING!!! This particular little nugget of history has, IIRC, been changed in the official background. Originally, in the 4th ed HE army book as I recall, the phoenix king did indeed poison...

I'm hesitant about a banner on such a small unit. It seems - on paper at least - to be some fairly easy VP for your opponent.

What's the intended role of this unit? If it is just for suicide snipe-charges, a standard would just be extra VP for your opponent.

I belive that the RBT was originally adapted from the weapons on the Black Arks, but I personally see it now as a part of the regular standing army/garrison forces so would put it in the same category as spears and xbows. The crew figures, for example, are closer in appearance to the regular army du...

The parry bonus can only be used with hand weapon and shield, if you're using a spear you don't get it. Also, in this edition, if you have a special weapon you must use it, you can no longer choose to use your hand weapon instead.

See my .sig DE and Daemons were vs VC, Chaos and Empire were vs Chaos. All four games were against the same opponent. MVP overall would almost certainly be the Empire mortar. The 5" pie plate in 8th spells almost certain death to anything it hits (assuming you can avoid major scatter or a misfi...

Is this restricted to current models? Because the worst model GW ever made would have to be Nagash the Undead Clown King. With Orion-slash-Bullwinkle being a close second.
