Dear Dread Elves fans, poor Dread Elves opponents,

https://www.the-ninth-age.com/community ... wing-only/

There were plenty of hints, with more than 250 pages of public discussion here: DE LAB Tuesday Sneak Peaks & Teaser Roundup.
In that thread, you'll read also the good vibes written by those lucky who have playtested the Book, and they even posted quite a few of their Army Lists.
For those who have no time to read all of that but are anxious to know a bit more, a convenient overview has been provided as well: DE LAB: Sneak Peek Overview [viewing only].
Well, that's good information, except that, in a typical sneaky Dread Elf way, a large part of the information is now superseded and plenty is still missing.

If you have still a bit of patience, the best is to look forward to getting the actual Dread Elf Army Book on your screen.
But when, you'd ask, when will it happen?

So here is the date: Thursday 10 December 2020. Quite likely late on that day, given that they are coming from the Western Hemisphere.
That day, you should have on your download page the Slim Army Book in its alpha version.

There, you'll learn about all the new units, and you'll discover why playtesters have been so enthusiastic.
Apparently, it has been enjoyed on both side of the battlefield, fortunately for the opponents.
Since it is an alpha, there will be likely quite a few changes until beta, which comes before the stable Gold.
But the general shape of the units won't change by much, including the new units, which will call for new models.

That's it for today, prepare for the Dread Elves, they are coming!
And join the conversation in the Sneak Peaks & Teaser Roundup.

On behalf of the LAB Team.

Hello guys, units of Medusea, hidden Assassins, several new units incl. a completely new monster, this new DE (with art and fluff as well!) is going to be so awesome! :)

The goal is to make rank & file standard troops both infantry and cavalry great again. To bring life to that feeling of 6th edition DE where you have an army full of fast glass-cannon scalpels, waiting to strike that deadly blow, in complete control of the flow of the battle. A lot of amazing legacies from all DE editions are coming back to live into 1

10 December on The Night Age.

Be ready

Playtesters have enjoyed the direction it takes.
Let's see after 10th Dec what the general public feels.

For the record,
the DE army book has reached its beta stage. Here.
It won't change much anymore - save for the annual points update, like all factions, designed to fine-tune the balance.

Next, we're waiting for the release of the full Legendary Army Book, with background and artwork,
and very likely a supplement, to highlight a specific aspect of DE.

Out of interest, what is a Thunder Beast supposed to look like?

The new DE army book is now gold.
download here.

Some general opinion is that it is well designed for the Academy part, where units synergize with each other thanks to military training.
The beastmaster theme has never been as well developed.
However, the Temple theme is assessed by many as lacking theme.
And the MSU playstyle has been sacrificed.

Obviously it did not please everyone.

The Gold status means that no more change will happen for at least one year, probably more.

Unfortunately, it does not come yet with the full illustrations and background.
Only the rules are avalable. We will have to wait for a few months.

As for me, I am looking forward to the Dread Fleet supplement.
