Pit of Shades Question

Post by Jadin »

I read over Pit of Shades last night and I am confused by the wording. You cast it, then it scatters d6 inches. It then says models under the template must take an I test or disappear. Does that mean that after the template moves, only the models under the end template location have to take the test to be removed or is it everyone touched by the movement of the template? It seems unclear and if it is the first case, it makes the powered up version seem really useless.

I believe the intention is for it to hit all models from start to finish of the scatter, but I play with some rules lawyers who will argue the other way.

Thanks for the help.

After the template has scattered, only then do you resolve the spell. (Page 9)

The powered up version is just highly risky. I prefer pendulum to pit because at least then you can target a particular model.

Yes, you resolve the hits when the template is in place, after it scatters.

Ok then, not fond of that lack precision, but I will give it a test run over the weekend.

Test it together with the -d3 Initiative shadow spell.
And use it's increased power for large template.
It will offset the lack of exact precision nicely.

I tried, and when I went to cast it, I came up short! Crap... I did get it off on the final turn, and managed to take out 10 plague monks with the smaller version of the spell, though I did not get the -d3 initiative spell off on them.

Though the 15 Spearmen I lost to the Irresistable Forced Thirteenth Spell seemed much more impressive...
