(Enchant Item)Fozzrik's folding fortress

Post by Arpink »

hi everyone,

i found an Enchant item in 8th Rules Book (page.505)
Fozzrik's folding fortress 100points.

let us deploy a watch tower building in our deployment zone.
treats as standard building on rules book page 126.

###############################

Can i put one unit 50 Xbowman (maybe 100?) into the watch tower and all shoot together?

the rule book just mention 5model can shoot for each floor of the building...

But it doesn't limited How Many Floor of the Building....

Could you post a picture of your 20-storey tower?
I hope it answers your question!

aw Calisson they look so cute! I want some!

on topic, AFAIK there is no limit to the number of floors in a tower so if you could build one with enough floors then yes you could use it as the folding fortress. Your opponent may get rather miffed with the extent you've taken the item to, but then again I reckon most people would actually applaud you for finding a relatively practical use of the folding fortress where as in most situations it is pretty naff.

Just remember, you only fight in HTH with 10 models. So if you get charged (and the S&S doesnt panic the enemy) you will likely lose from combat resolution since you wont have ranks, therefore it will go by kills and 10 warriors wont kill much in CC.

Good idea though.

The 100 shots he gets as a S&S reaction should even things out.

There is no limit the number of floors but there is a limit to the number of models allowed in a building. 20 models only, a unit bigger than that may not enter a building. I must say I'm surprised everybody missed that.

IIRC this only applies for a unit being deployed inside the watch tower in the watch tower scenario.

Oops, for some reason they play only 20 at my local GW and I never looked into it. Funny how bad GW staff can be with rules. I retract my previous statement.

Cheese!
Honestly do you think having a horde of archers in an impregnable fortress makes for a fun game?

You think the only way to have a fun game is to use weak units in conventional ways? I have never understood that point of view, if someone makes a really good unit or comes up with an effective tactic then it is your job to come up with something that can beat it not their job to take an army you can use cut and paste tactics on.
Moding a group of Druchii.net players is much like directing the musical 'Cats' using actual cats. Frustrating, difficult, chaotic but ultimatley satisfying and a great deal of fun.

What weak units?

RXBs are the best-protected infantry we have! 5+ Armor AND 6+ Ward (parry) beats every other infantry unit in our book (Spearmen, Black Guard, Executioners, and Corsairs are 5+ with no ward, Shades usually have no save, and the best the poor Witches can do is 5+ ward from the cauldron).

I use blocks of 20-30 and maneuver them quite agressively as reserves just behind the main battle line. More than once they've saved my bacon doing a late-game charge against a troublesome unit holding me up.

Yea I see your point but this particular strategy is still cheese. I think that making a tower with 10 levels is exploiting the rules a bit and goes against the spirit of the game.

I say go for it. Already heard of others (in that case woodelves) doing the exact same thing.
Some will always call it cheese others will find ways to deal with it, a few spells could still clear the tower in a round or two. :)

Deploy in a corner and take the draw. Sounds fine by me. Takes a lot to win tournaments without three/five wins and I'll be more than happy sabotaging anyone bringing these kind of shenanigans!

With the 'Ard Boyz missions I think it actually is a pretty good steal. Two missions with meeting engagement means the tower will be in range the whole game from the start and in round three it is a great way to keep a character safe until you go out to control the portal. Plus it is great to be able to hide your BSB behind the tower out of enemy line of sight.

Callison; Deploy your left tower on top of your right tower, and your centre tower on top of that for a 6 level tower...

(Then hope your opponent is silly enough to send something fragile toward your tower.)
