Do scaly skin saves stack? As in would the save provided with a SDC scale with glittering robe?

Sadly no. From the errata:
Page 66 – Special Rules, What Special Rules Does It Have.
Change “[...]the effects of multiple special rules[...]” to
“[...]the effects of different special rules[...]”Add “However,
unless otherwise stated, a model gains no additional benefit
from having the same special rule multiple times.” to the end of
the first paragraph.

How about Lvl1 Life Sorc, 80 points a pop, default for regen spell and you're pretty tanky against anything not using fire.

Yup. The Scaly Skin form the SDC may have been given an upgrade in close combat, but the synergy with Lore of Metal is reduced. Considering our accessibility to higher strength attacks in this edition, I think we may have a reduced need for lore of metal. Just a thought, of course. It's a bit early to say.
