Re: Charmed Shield Question
Magic armour only benefits the wielder/wearer... Also RAW: "The first hit suffered by the bearer of the Charmed Shield is discounted on a roll of 2+."
The bearer is the rider, so I'd say no, it does not benefit the monster.

Re: Charmed Shield Question
Not sure; we have always only played it with the rider. It is the first hit.
"The first hit suffered by the bearer is discounted on a 2+."
Since you both roll to wound on the rider and the mount I would only say it affect the rider.

HHmmm. Ok next question - how to protect Dragons and Manti's?
Is Iron Hard Skin and scenery the only way to do it? or magic spell effects?

Re: Charmed Shield Question
as to monstrous mounts, they are treated as monstrous cavalry, right?
all monstrous cavalry use the rusels for cavalry as well
BRB p82:
"Although a cavalry model has two sets of characteristics, one for the rider and one for the mount, it is treated in all respects as a single model"
"The mount's Wounds and Toughness are never used. We assume that the enemy always strikes at the rider"
And since the rider has the shield...
Or is my reasoning faulty?

Re: Charmed Shield Question
Monstrous mounts are treated as monstrous cavalry i.e. Pegasus.
But in this example I am looking at Monster mounts i.e. Drags and Mantis

Well if you wounded on the same roll. It would be the same hit. Since you don't roll one die for wounding, both two. That means it is two hits.
T.D.: Pha's Protection, Target Saturation, Heaven Signature and there are a few more I can't remember.
Blackphantom: No, they aren't. They are monsters, not monstrous beast.

Re: Charmed Shield Question
Monstrous beasts, ie. dark pegasus, merges stats and the charmed shield obviously works there.
As for manticores and dragons; there are three ways to protect them from cannonballs.
- Line of Sight
- Ironcurse Icon on the rider, 6+ ward vs war machines. Not much, but its there
- Lore of Light, which is essentially a 4+ ward vs cannons. If you get Pha's, and you get the spell through.
With the laser guided sight of cannons, and the massively huge size of monster bases, its damned near impossible NOT to hit them with cannons...

Re: Charmed Shield Question

monsters and such... i'm thinking no
correct me if i'm wrong though
@gerner, ah yes, wasn't thinking of that. and i wasn't talking about dragons and manti's, but pegasi. like in the original post.
*why does warhammer always need complicated rules and loopholes everywhere*

Yeah. Dragonbuilds are essentially impossible vs armies with cannons :/
