Cloak of twilight

Simple question I maybe just being stupid but if I have a character with cot in a unit does the unit get a 3+ save against spells.

No, the save granted by the cloak is not magic resistance.
7th edition army book:
Games Played: 213
Games Won: 114 (54%)
Games Drawn: 33 (15%)
Games Lost: 66 (31%)

Not to make another post, and this one already include CoT I'm going to post my question here.

In my gaming group we have somewhat agreed that attacks made in first round of combat with the CoT is magical (or has magical effect applied), is that coorect? I face a lot of VC so it would be good to know in case we get that discussion.

That would be incorrect. Cloak of Twilight is not a magic weapon, and nothing in its rules specifies magical attacks.

But if your group is ok with playing that way, more power to you! Just be aware that outside of your group things are different.

One last thing to add to this one: does the ward save work for damage from a miscast?

Unfortunately the miscast is not a spell, miscasts do magical damage though so our hated kindred get saves from their Banner of the World Dragon, bloody Asur.

The Cloak does protect you against the possible wound from Power of Darkness, and with a MR 1 amulet the spell is free AND much safer to cast.
