New to Dark Elves and WHFB

Post by Cazman5 »

Hello all... I'm new to WHFB and the Dark Elves and hope i'm posting this in the right place.

I got a few bits for Christmas after many people started playing WHFB at my local GW store. I liked the look and feel of the Dark Elves in general so I went for them. After a little reading on this site and others I started with: Dreadlord on Cold one, Battalion, a Hydra and 5 Harpies. I was just wondering what you guys thought would be the best way to go to expand to 2000 pts.

Thanks.

that really depends on what kind of list you want. Have you read the armybook and decided a bit of style + units of liking?

Welcome cazman5 to D.net! :)

The battalion is an excellent start.
It lacks however characters, so your DL on CO is welcome.
You'll need absolutely one sorceress, too. You can take her on foot, babysitted by a unit of footsloggers.

The other thing the battalion is missing is agile troops:
harpies, DR, shades and pegasus master.
You've got one such unit. You'll need more.
One way to get them is to convert corsairs as shades, or "count as" shades.

Hi peeps. just joined the forum
Been playing my dark elves for about 8 years now

When I started i bought the battalion and hydra too
A good thing to buy could be the corsairs
(cheap to buy, but does the trick ingame)
A sorceress on foot is also nice to have

I was thinking of adding more warriors, a RBT and a sorceress + a few upgrades and this would get me up to 1500K pts. I am really aiming for an army that is not going to get steamrollered every time i play but not too competitive either. I feel that i would need every aspect of the game so to learn all of of these aspects.

This is most definitely the place to be for Dark Elf players. Lots of great information to be searched and lots of people willing to answer your questions.

welcome, and after all the good advice given already, I'd say the only thing missing would be some buddies for the pub afterwards!

Picked up a sorceress as recommended and didn't see any harm in adding more warriors to the measly and nearly pointless 12 you get in the battalion. After some decent upgrades I only need 100 more points before I have 1500 so I was thinking; shades, RBT or something else?

And again thanks everyone for being so welcoming!

Shades.
Or any other agile troop (harpies, DR, peggymaster).
