No Cheese Please We're British (2000 pts for Tourney)

Post by 22over7 »

I am feverishly trying to get 2000pts bought, assembled and painted for the Brighton Warlords Tournament in June. I am currently torn between two approaches. The predictable and reliable army build or a slightly off plan one (no Pendant, Hydra and ASF BG). Both lists have the same basic build, but I feel one is a little "friendlier".

From this tournament experience I really want good close games. I am not too bothered about winning overall and certainly not winning at all costs but equally I want a list which will give my opponents a good game. (Whilst not being too bothered by winning I don't want to be a walkover.) So my question for the more experienced players is of these two lists is the "non-cheesey" one competitive and non-cheesey enough?

I would also appreciate any other general feedback. Thank you in advance.

List 1 is the more diverse and interesting to play against. That said though, they are both dragon lists so won't make you any friends.

I think list 2 would be seen as less sporting due to the double BG.

Thanks Rabidnid. That was the sort of response (if not the answer) that I wanted.

Unfortunately the Dragon is forced upon me as I am now running out of time to get everything painted otherwise. As such I think I will have to take it on the chin and accept that my first tournament experience will be fielding a cheesey list :(.

I like both lists but the MR3 dragon lord is different and more useful i think in the context of the lists and is not common.

:D

I have given up trying to understand other players at tournaments. If you beat them they will say you have a cheesy list at least part of the time no matter what is in it.

Run what you like and play to have fun. For me at least, doing well in the tournament is secondary.

If you take a Dragon you can be guaranteed some people will yell out cheese and complain bitterly but really your list isn't that bad while still being nicely competitive. The good thing is that it does rely on tactics rather than simply charging forwards and wiping everything out.
