wacky crazy themed armies

Post by Calisson »

I was wondering about who will first try the following lists, based on fluff above any other consideration:

Druchii Women's Lib
all female, of course!
Must have:
- supreme sorceress, female dreadlord, female beastmaster (on any mount, just make sure the mount is female)
- sorceress, female master, DH with or without COB,
- WE
- harpies (technically, they are all female, even if the political objectives may be difficult to understand)
- medusa, shrine
- sisters

May have:
- Morathi, Hellebron (can't ask to get both of them in same army)
- spear warriors, but only female models
- RXB warriors, but only female models
- RBT, but only female models for servants
- scourgerunner, but only female models for crew
- hydra (make sure they are female), with only female beastmasters
- karibdyss, with only female beastmasters

Can't have:
- male special character
- assassin, unless a female one
- corsairs, DR, bleakswords, COK, BG, shades, COC, exec, unless using appropriate female models
- warlocks, in any case.

Step Dance & Magic Circus
All step-dance models must be dancing or jumping.
For the circus variant, add the monsters and the acrobats, plus fireworks!

Step-dance must-have:
- Lokhir for his daring leap!
- WE with musician
- Sisters with musician
- COB (for the steps)
- Shrine (for the steps)

Naggarond Magic Circus must-have:
- Sorceress (Fire or Light preferred; other possible circus Lores are Beasts (must take #6) & Shadows (must take #1))
- Shadowblade for his ability to run from unit to another unit and his potion of S
- Malus Darkblade, with his intelligent CO Spite, and his devil Tz'arkan
- Beastmaster on Manticore, Hydra, Kharibdyss
- Scourgerunners (for the one-wheel fast driving)
- Warlocks
- you 'd need o take a Black Dragon Egg, and the Cloak of Twilight

Can't have:
- any serious unit.

Hot Wheels
All on wheels or mounted on a running steed - a.k.a. "Lizards and rabbits".
Must have:
- Beastmaster on scourgerunner
- Malekith, dreadlord or master on COC, at least the BSB on COC
- DH on COB (can join DR or warlocks)
- DR
- scourgerunner, COC
- warlocks, shrine (can join DR or warlocks)

May have:
- high sorceress or sorceress on DS, or possibly on CO
- dreadlord or master on DS, or possibly on CO
- COK
- hydra or karibdyss, provided the beastmaster models are not there

Can't have:
- footsloggers, or flyers be it elves or monsters or in-between (medusa)

Outcasts from Har Kaldra
The city has been destroyed and cursed by Malekith. Not everyone has been killed, though.
Must-have:
- Morathi (who else?)
- supreme magic-user (male), magic-user (male)
- assassin
- DR
- shades, hydra
- warlock, medusa, shrine
- Chillblade (see the fluff)

May have:
- beastmaster (any mount)
- small units of swords or RXBmen
- scourgerunners

Can't have:
- other named characters
- corsairs & sea creatures (harpies, kharibdyss), RBT
- disciplined troops: DH, WE, BG, execs, COK, COC

Here are also more classic themed lists.

Corsair sailors from Karond Kar
Travel in crowded ships (so only elves and horses and sea beasts) - raid and plunder and bring back booty (so no killing would-be slaves).
Must-have:
- fleetmaster, of course (model shown top left p.66 - but don't cheat by giving him dreadlord's stats), supreme sorceress on foot or steed (preferably Shadows Lore),
- beastmaster on scourgerunners,
- Lokhir (likely to take command before the end of the battle), sorceress on foot or steed, master BSB on foot or steed,
- corsairs AHW, corsairs RHB, DR,
- harpies, shades, scourgerunner, RBT
- kharibdyss

May have:
- dreadlord on foot or steed, master on foot or steed,
- assassin (cause they are hired to train corsairs - but not Shadowblade),
- RXB darkshards (cause they are some onboard corsair ships),
- sisters (cause they need not to kill, just to play cat & mouse)

Can't have:
- big monsters and carnivorous mounts, because of lenghty sea travel on crowded wooden ship (except kharibdyss & harpies, which travel near the ship and eat fish)
- bloodthirsty killers (khainites, warlocks), cause the goal is to bring back booty, not to sacrifice them ritually
- non-looters: Malekith and his retenue Kouran & BG, Morathi, spear & sword warriors (good only for landlubbers), medusa and shrine (too dumb)

Monster Mash from Klar Karond
All models must be related to monsters or non-elf beings.
Must have:
- Beastmaster in both versions
- corsairs (because of the Sea Dragon Cloak)
- COK, COC, harpies, scourgerunner, hydra
- karibdyss, medusa, shrine

May have:
- Malekith on dragon or COC, Morathi, Hellebron on manticore, Malus.
- any dreadlord, or supreme sorceress on dragon, manticore, pegasus or CO,
- any master or sorceress on pegasus or CO
- DR (because some core troops are mandatory - make sure the hose's teeth are at original size)
- warlocks (because of the horse's teeth, and the riders are no longer 100% elves either)
- shades, a single footslogger exception, as they are great explorers

Can't have:
footslogger with no SDC

Death Sacrifice
Just there to kill in combat or later. No mercy.
Must-have:
- manticore and her rider (dreadlord, high sorc, master
- assassins, DH, COB,
- WE
- execs
- warlocks

May have:
- Hellebron on any mount rather than on foot
- Tullaris
- hydra
- medusa, shrine

Can't have:
- fleetmaster, beastmaster
- corsairs

Dreadlord from sumptuous Hag Graef
Known for being rich and powerful - it must show. Assassin-heavy.
Must-have:
- Dreadlord on COK or COC
- BRB on COK
- several assassins
- spearmen, swordsmen, RXBmen,
- DR
- COK, COC, hydra
- warlocks, karibdyss, shrine, sisters

May have:
- supreme sorceress, sorceress
- WE
- RBT
- medusa

Can't have:
- special character
- beastmaster, fleetmaster, DH
- scourgerunner
- execs, BG, harpies, shades

Special character retinue.
Malekith personnal guard from Naggarond, Kouran, swordsmen & spearmen, black guard maxed out, warlocks.
Morathi Ghrond expedition, as many sorceresses as possible, medusa & shrine, WE & DR as core, that should not leave out much for special
Hellebron Death Cruzade from Har Ganeth, Tullaris, Shadowblade, DH with as many COB as possible, WE, execs, Hellebron may go on manti or COB
Malus knights of stupid doom, max COK, some COC, probably DR as core and certainly warlocks as rare
Lokhir Black Ark Tower of the Blessed Doom, max corsairs, DR, harpies, RBT, hydra, karibdyss, medusa, shrine, warlocks (more destructive and monster-heavy than corsairs raiding with ships)

No treble (or triplet, or tripel, or whatever, you understand what I mean) rare choices.
Otherwise, it was perfectly spot on.

You might be better off with a sorceress rather than a 2nd master.
Also, scourge is fluffy, but more shades would probably be more efficient. Depends on your aim.

Added Step Dance & Magic Circus.
That would be wacky!

Love the 'Can't Have' for the Magic Circus. That made my day, seeing that. Would work nicely teamed up with Rats.

I wondered a few seconds about the following army themes:
- "Porcelain and crystal": only 6+ or 6++ before melee.
- "Slap in the face": only models which hands are larger than the head (led by Malekith on his dragon)
