Ally Abuse (Multiplayer: The Lost Prince Scenario)

The name of this game was race to the middle and then back off the board again. The Lost Prince's Father will reward you handsomely if you can rescue his son. The dumb Prince is placed in the middle of the board and goes D6" in a random direction before each turn (complete turn, not per person). Once you come in to contact with him you 'have' him and need to escort him off the board.

Obviously Elves and Skaven are at a huge advantage in this race due to our superior speed. I was facing a Dwarf warband (to my left), a Skaven clan (across-corner) and a Sisters of Sigmar warband (to my right). Because this was the first game for the warband I wanted the experience for surviving and wasn't planning on much else. Basically my heroes all ran into a building and hid like cowards. My two corsairs went charging ahead though and got into the middle of the board just in time! The Prince for some reason decided to run 6 inches straight towards the skaven - as if they needed any more help and they reached the Prince first and were prepping a quick get away! The Dwarves were slow and couldn't do jack squat and the Sisters were still too far back to catch up. Two of my corsairs were close enough though that at the beginning of my turn I could've charged the skaven who cas leading the Prince. I pointed this out to the Skaven leader and offered an alliance. I won't attack him and will cover his rear if we split the booty. This was a great spot for me since I only had 2 corsairs running around (remember - everyone else was hiding) but in a position to turn the tides of the game as I could tie him up until both of the other warbands could close in! He accepted so I turned my attention to delaying the Sisters and the Dwarves. Because the Dwarves were still too far out to do any immediate damage I made a bee-line for the nearest Sisters. Unfortunately one of the Corsairs was cut down by a Dwarf crossbow that turn so the one Corsair was going it alone! Amazingly he managed to take out TWO Sisters! A hero and a novice! This was great experience for the group! Except that he died next turn... Luckily the Skaven got the Prince away before I failed my rout test and I ended up sharing the victory with the skaven! Not bad for only sending 2 Corsairs into combat!

Casualties:
- Both Corsairs suffered serious wounds and retired from the warband. A huge blow costing me 80 gold pieces and 2 group experience points in the end. Oh well - better them than the heroes!

Bounty:
- Wyrdstone from all 5 heroes
- Gold, Heavy Armour, Light Armour, and 3 gems from the Prince's Father

Experience:
Kitrik +1 (survive) +1 (win)
Vorchild +1 (survive)
Steja +1 (survive)
Celine +1 (survive)
Thanee +1 (survive)

The skaven warband took too many casualties fending off the Dwarves and Sisters as their leader escaped to continue. Thus in a move of generosity unbecoming of Skaven, he offered all of the loot from the rescue to me after the game (once he discovered half of his band wasn't coming back...).

---------------

Skaven Scum (Multiplayer: Treasure Hunt Scenario)

In this scenario every general gets to place D3 shards of wyrdstone on the table. Every warband then races across the board and tries to get as many wyrdstone shards as possible. If a warrior dies while he/she has the wyrdstone - they drop it for someone else to pick up. If you rout, you take the wyrdstone with you. Voluntary routs are only possible if you are taking rout tests AND you only take the wyrdstone that you are carrying that isn't in close combat (for example - my hero is in combat and has wyrdstone, if I voluntarily rout, he drops it). This keeps people from sacrificing henchman to get off the table and never get their heroes into combat (lame). This is a house rule that we made up on the spot - feel free to steal it...

Again - Elves and Skaven have an advantage due to fast movement. However, I was facing 3 skaven clans and a posessed warband - ugh! To try and even the numbers game, I quickly allied with one of my neigboring skaven clans (he was also my 'friend' for the night borrowing someone else's models so it was the 'nice' thing to do - and as it turns out, a very smart tactical decision as well - hehe!). I started out with some tactical mistakes unfortunately. I got to choose sides first in this game and I chose the side that was closest to the most pieces of wyrdstone. I failed to foresee that most of the battles would take place at this point and throwing 7 dark elves into a mix of 3 skaven warbands and a posessed warband was a very, very, very bad idea. If I would've seen this, I would've escaped with more wyrdstone than I did (and it was an escape as you will see).

I was placed 4th in the turn sequence (out of 5) so I was at another disadvantage as all of the 'easy' wyrdstone was more or less claimed before I had a shot at it. Unwavered by this, my druchii charged ahead in 3 groups: Vorchild and Steja, Kitrik and the Corsairs, and Celine and Thanee. Vorchild and Steja were running for a shard of wyrdstone hiding in an abandoned building very high up with no ladders or stairs! Kitrik and his bodyguard made some advancement towards the neighboring enemy skaven and so did Celine and Thanee. Little did Celine realize that the Skaven sorcerer was gunning for her! The sorcerer sucessfully cast Black Fury on himself and was able to move 24 inches total to get into combat with her! This was not looking good needless to say! In an amazing show of stealth, Celine danced around the skaven avoiding all of his 4 Strength 4 attacks (with no armour remember) and in return planting a dagger in the back of his head killing him! A dagger! Celine learned a thing or two from that assassin she ban... nevermind...

Kitrik was able to scare off some more rats with his ridiculously cool armour save, grab a shard and make a mad dash to join up with Celine and Thanee. Vorchild and Steja finally made it too their destination but while climbing up Steja slipped and fell! Luckily he was unhurt by this embarassing, yet graceful (because everything the elf does is graceful) fall. Vorchild got in and grabbed his very own shard! The Corsairs decided to make a stand against the skaven adept in the top of a tower who was hoarding 2 shards of wyrdstone. As they climbed up to catch him they avoided relentless shots from skaven on the ground! As the Adept was scurrying down the tower (he had to go the long way down as jumping would've killed him) the Corsairs boxed him in and forced him to charge one of them (or jump off a ledge and die...). A night runner managed to sneak in behind the Corsairs without being noticed and soon one of them was facing not only the adept but a night runner on his 6 as well! In another streak of luck now becoming of the brave Corsairs, he survived! But he was stunned and would surely be dead the next turn. Yes, he did die, but at least the other Corsair was able to face off against the Adept alone with no interference from the Night Runner! And what a face off it was! Turn after turn they danced around each other on crossbeams and collapsing floors with a 6" dropoff right next to them! Finally the Corsair scored a hit and knocked the Adept down - and, as this Skaven general was slowly becoming accustomed too, his leader took a dive off of the tower to the ground suffering 5 Strength 6 hits. He died. Chalk up another amazing victory for the Corsairs! The night runner was soon in a fury of rage trying to avenge his fallen leader but the Corsair, after a few turns of combat, heard the call from Kitrik that it was time to leave and put on the afterburners and got out alive! Unfortunately, the two shards of wyrdstone the fallen (heh heh) Adept dropped were quickly gathered up by yet more skaven on the ground.

Kitrik, Celine and Thanee were now on the other side of the board hunting down another night runner who had wyrdstone. However their search was in vain. Just as they found him and Celine blasted off a doombolt (wasn't strong enough), all of those skaven routed and took off with 2 shards. Unfortunate. He was all alone too... Vorchild and Steja, now both hiding in the elevated building were observing the battlefield and watching our ally (the skaven clan to our right) die a slow and sure death being cornered by 2 skaven clans and the possessed (the possessed and one skaven clan had allied as well - still had one rogue skaven clan). In an effort to help him, as we had agreed to split the bounty at the end so his gain is my gain, Vorchild and Steja decided to make a mad dash at a skaven hero carrying a shard who was sitting off by himself. However, to get into better position they decided to jump out of the building, across the street and onto the roof of an adjacent house. This would give them superior positioning on the black rat because if they were to charge from where they were and fall out of the building, they would be within charge range of all 3 enemy warbands - stupid idea. So instead they decided to be daring...AND stupid! Vorchild was the first to attempt the jump...and fell...gracefully. He landed on his head and luckily his helmet saved him. Steja made it safely across but at that point he couldn't just leave Vorchild. Vorchild, being knocked down was now in charging range of an enemy that they failed to observe hiding behind a building. Call in the troops! The skaven ally sent 2 rats and a black rat to cover Vorchild while he slowly stood up. They were quickly engaged but managed to defend Vorchid from being easy prey for the possessed and skaven! But after failing way too many casualties, the skaven ally was in no position to continue fighting and voluntarily fled the battlefield, leaving Vorchild and Steja scurrying away with the possessed and skaven hot on their tail. They ran to no avail - they were charged in the back and shot at. Steja fell to a sling (extremely lucky shot) and was out of action, Vorchild was also cut down in his prime by a possessed warrior, dropping a wyrdstone for the enemy. Kitrik, Celine and Thanee saw their fellow Druchii fall to the ground and sounded the retreat - it was time to leave...

Casualties:
- One Corsair suffered a brutal blow from the Assassin Adept and then was mercilessly kicked in the chin by a night runner, he decided to retire from the warband (in other words: he rolled a two)
- Steja suffered multiple injuries, a hand injury (-1 WS) and bitter emnity (hates skaven)
- Vorchild made a full recovery!

Bounty:
- 1 wyrdstone shard from the hunt
- 2 wyrdstone shards that the 3 surviving heroes found

Experience:
Kitrik +1 (survive)
Celine +1 (survive) +1 (killed sorcerer)
Thanee +1 (survive)
Corsairs +1 (killed Adept)

When the chips were down you made an alliance with the winning team, truely a Druchii thing to do. Nice work.
Not the greatest strategy I have ever seen but its one of the most effective. Manging to pull of a win like that, its that kind of situation that makes Mordheim great.
My sympathy to the dwarven player, that is why I never use them.
Congratulations.

It's actually a pretty sizable warband for a DE one and on the whole it looks pretty good and did well against the Skaven. The names of the characters are a nice touch as well, but where's Sneaky?

Ha, Silas, I top your mangy title! I founded the Cult of Kitrik, and I actually forgot that I had, up until I read the posts in the Hall of Fame. Go me!
