Campaign Idea

Post by Jhaelrnya »

I had a flash of insight, an apiphany? epiphany? Whatever.

An Idea.

The idea is to have a campaign revolving around the Skaven Undercities. MOst people would play Skaven, representing different sects of the clans vying for power etc, but other races could be down to purge/terrorize/make deals as they see fit.

It's easy enough to convert everything to underground battles: basically keep it the same and say there are torches in a lot of places, and maybe modify the hiding rules, and give Skaven a boost (for an appropriate cost increase). Also-really easy to make cheap terrain, as it will be all dirt and stones and rat warrens.

I want to push Mordhiem in a gmaing group I am making, and figure if everyone ptches in and buys a couple Skaven regiment boxes to start off, we have a community bitz box, modelling opporunities, and if anyone wants to buy bigger models (like Rat Ogres and mercs etc) they can do so, but with their own money.

What do you people think? Anyone got any ideas on how I should change the rules?

Well, I'd allow the varient clan lists to be used and possibly add a slave unit to the game but that's about it.

Arent there rules for playing in the dark somewhere in SOC book - maybe associated with the Clan Eshin army. I may not remember well, but I think they could be used for any army

This gives you the possibility to play a small proportion of the battles in different lighting conditions, which might be interesting.

Also, I've always been interested in the idea in inter-weaving small scale stuff with big battles. How about some Mordheim rules scenarios (or skirmish rules scenarios for a character plus few retainers) set in the warrens, with rewards that translate through into the main campaign? For example, get to this magic item first, get a free L1 to L2 sorceror upgrade, or let one magic user roll one more spell than his level.

Great :) I've found a masterpiece, a true reason for your campaign and a perfect way to include even more rules and twists and turns:

GW Spain Website wrote:A pesar de haber desatado su poder, la Semiesfera de la Destrucción no había explotado verdaderamente, de forma que seguramente sigue latente esperando volver a ser activada, oculta en algún lugar en lo más profundo del retorcido laberinto de nuevos túneles.

:O
I like that! Quest for the Wheel of Destruction Mordhiem Campaign! And I had forgotten the SoC lighting rules...

I have been thinking about some of the rules that might need to be used. Here is a list of a couple. I am not sure about points values though, any help?

There will be a main map, where people post game wins loss. This creates territories, controlled by different warbands. Spaced across the map will be entrances to the Under Empire, as well as some territory outside the Under Empire.

Items that are not skaven (ie not on skaven list) are rare 5 if common, and add 2 to rarity to all normal rare items. This rule has no effect when warband controls an Entrance, or is outside the Under Empire <--searching for items, not warband creation

Night fight rules in SoC book will be given to vampires, Beastmen, and other models that should get them fluffwise (points increase likely, but maybe not).

Wyrdstone sells for same, unless I can think of a fair way of changing it.

Non skaven, Non Undead warbands need an Entrance to recruit new members, besides Hired Swords (will create new Hired swords, or new character fluff etc to go with current rules). Either that, or a touching ally with an entrance. (ie the play without entrance must have terriotry touching the territory of the player with an entrance).

Any suggestions? This will be the second campaign I run, the first will be just a normal one to get more people at my school interested (gotta love a game you can play at lunch)

ps: Thanks Silas for that spelling correction.
