New Druchii Fluff needed?
I’ve just been digesting the rules review and was a little disappointed to see that my favoured Druchii aren’t among the allowed ‘official’ warbands. With my reading being that the powers that be can’t see any reason for them to be there with their current fluff. So I thought that maybe we needed to rectify this situation and adjust the fluff to fit.
The current fluff not fitting doesn’t really surprise me, why any right headed Highborn with an inch of sense would go into Mordhiem to look for Slaves is beyond me. Also our fluff at no point backs up the whole Wierdstone hunting thing (seems all we’re interested are Slaves and Powerful Magic Items).
So this got me to wondering ‘Why would Druchii go to Mordhiem? Only reasons I can think of is someone sending out scouts to find out just what happened. Maybe the Druchii warband needs a Shade slant to it.
Another reason might be the Sorceress convent sending someone out to check the big bad bod who crashed his ride into the middle of a city.
Of these two I like the first one better. The latest army book suggested that the shades are a sub-sect of the Druchii whole and kind of suggested that their society is a little different to the main stream DE one. This would then allow for their society to be explored a little more and would allow the warband to be run as is rules wise with just some fluff changes.
The second option would possibly mean some rules changes, Sorceress being the leader being the most obvious, which could cause balance issues.
Anyone got other ideas, Or suggestions? As much as I would love to create a fluffopedia to back up my thoughts my imaginative writing skills are sub-par, to say the least and there’s got to be better fluff gurus out there.

The way I see it (for my warband atleast) the empire has always been a good target for piracy and raids. A ship can make a sizeble plunder upriver from Marianburg very quickly.
The downside being it quite well defended and one mistake can lead to sunken ship and a small band of survivors left on the shore. Including of course your pet beasthounds.
Plunder lost and no where to go they try to get a ship, capturing a wandering soul and torturing him for information they hear about Mordheim and sense a chance for greatness. There's treasure to be had and then there's pure curiosity.
Reinforcements you can just find them or they flock to you upon hearing your growing wealth and success.
Thats ny justification. It should be noted that now all elve warbands have been made un-official. GW has a cunning plan for them and shall return eventually.

Well, Wyrdstone is in itself a powerful magic item but that aside, my Highborn is an outcast form Druchii society as a whole (having opposed both the Temple of Khaine and the Cult of Pleasure openly) and is currently just buggering around the world having fun. He happened to pass through Mordheim a few years after all the fun started and had quite a good time of it. There's my justification right there.

Arquinsiel - same here - good enough reason for me too...
As far as new fluff goes: since GW made all Elf warbands 'unofficial', maybe D.Net could take it upon itself to help make them official? "The Revision" anyone?
If we can get a group of dedicated playtesters (count me in) maybe we can get something going. We would need a decent amount of playtesting with them though and we might as well try to get Ulthuan.org in on it as well for the Shadow Elves - present the Elf solution as a whole to GW...
They've said that they want to add them back in next RR (next June) so we have until then to have an impact on their decisions.
What say you?

The reason for my warband to be in Mordheim is for the slightly ambitious reason of ridding the place of Aenur. Hey, everyone's got to have a goal right?
As to this playtesting thing, are we thinking of making changes to the warband list? 'Cause right now, there are some thing I think need adjustment to make them truly useful. At any rate, I play once a month in a campaign and I'm sure I could devote some time to that sort of thing if there was a plan.

Thanks Kitrik, I was begining to think the meaning of my post was lost.
Vorchild raises a very valid point, just what are we looking at changing?
Oh and I'm sure I can kick something into gear here to manage some playtesting if it comes to it.

I can do some PTing, if you want. Luckily enough, I'm in my "Mordheim enthusiast" period, having just discovered the game, and games don't take too long (or too many models, or too much money)...

The warband is certainly good the way it is, but a couple of changes will make model choices more difficult I think. If you allowed the beastmaster to use the highborn's Ld with respect to beasthound stupidity checks, that'd make those guys (and the beastmaster) so much better to take. Stupidity on Ld8 has always truly sucked, and in mordheim, I think its even worse than fantasy. Besides, the current rule makes little to no sense. The other thing I might like to see is BS4 for shades, making them a viable choice for a missile henchman in order to increase the shooting power of the warband. Corsairs would then be the combat troops, and shades are the restricted missile troops.
But those are two rather small thing I think, so I guess I'm just being a bit picky. I'm just looking at my current warband, and I'm seeing no reason to go with anything but full heroes and corsairs.
