What warband are you thinking of? What warbands are you likely to be facing? Without that information we can't really help you much.

the rules for the DE warband are still in progress, and not official. We are still working on the fluff before we figure out the rules to fit it. It'll take a while...

There already is a Dark elf warband unless it’s out of date or something. I don't really know since I have only just started.

That is the link to it its about half way down the page.

Is this list legal at the moment or do i need to wait untill the new list comes out?

Those rules are not yet official, so the Dnet crew thought they take the time to tweak them and submit some rules for officiality to the head honchos for Mordheim. ;)

Your best bet, I think, is to go very easy on the equipment and max your numbers, especially if you're going to play against skaven. Skaven has the potential to start off with about 20 models. You'll also likely want to maximize your characters. I find lots of attacks are good, but defence is also important, so swords for parrying at generally a good idea.

if you want a cheap warband, go for human mercenaries (just 1 box of free companies and you'll have enough models for mordheim for the rest of your life) but from the various warband that i've played i like pit fighter the most.. have a go!

I found that against skaven good equipment and a few elite fighters meant that although I'd fail to achieve the objective I'd usually manage to win any fights I got into with them thereby gaining experience and gold from the post-battle sequence.
