Yeah. You're dead before the campaign even starts. You have two heroes, which means you have a third of what the other warbands will be getting in terms of income, and you have fragile, expensive models all around. You don't need the Ithilmar weaponry, as your initiative is high enough as it is. You're overequipping everyone, as your henchmen can easily do with two daggers.

I started with a Shadow Warrior warband, and they're actually doing quite well. I believe my starting warband was:

Shadow Master: Longbow, 2 swords

Shadow Walker: Longbow, 2 swords
Shadow Walker: Longbow, sword, dagger
Shadow Walker: Longbow, 2 daggers

Shadow Weaver: Longbow, 2 daggers

Shadow Warrior: Longbow, 2 daggers
Shadow Warrior: Longbow, 2 daggers

something along those lines, and i found it plays pretty well. You might want to do something like that.

Gah! Two swords means you're paying five coins more for an additionnal CC weapon without any rules! You should be getting a mace or axe, or even a dagger! No point taking two swords, as you don't get anything more than taking a sword and something else.

i wanted as many swords as i could fit in, because i hate daggers, and the Shadow Warriors don't have any other one handed combat weapons available to them

Bear in mind though, with five models in the warband you'll grow very quickly. My old druchii with seven models had only two heroes and they bought another fellblade after the second game. No losses either, the games were nice and short meaning that I bottled quickly or managed to do some hurting while ignoring the treasure. Eitehr way, it was pretty good in terms of income.

The problem is more the only two heroes, rather than the five models. Anyway, I'm planning on making a Druchii warband with five heroes and no henchmen, and see how that turns out.

Erm... you have noticed the way that the amount of gold you get per shard si inversly proportional to the number of models in your warband right? It's 40% heroes and in the second size bracket, each shard will be worth an amazing amount.

Yeah, I have. If I can find it again, I'll pull up a mathhammer chart I'd found detailing the average amount of gold you get in the long run running a hero only warband of three through to six heroes.

By the way, in his case, he has five models, two of which are heroes. He could easily run five heroes instead, eh...

True, or four without too mcuh of a drop in equipment for them. But if everyone starts with the optimal there'd be no point in playing.

OK I took away the ithilmar and put in a shadow weaver with no extra equiptment and I will buy some for him after my first game. I like the elf bows they are fluffy and useful so I will keep them. Also have any of you heard of the rule you cant have more than 50% of your warband armed with ranged weapons?
