Pigeon's Escher Gang Diary

Post by Dancingpigeon »

Day One
Well, I've been meaning to play Necromunda now for... ummm... 5-6years now, but have never gotten round to getting the models or finding other players. After talking to one of the guys at work for a while, he mentioned he had 4 gangs back over in Canada, plus the original terrain and a few other goodies- not only that, but he is heading back over there for a vacation and wants to bring them back with him. Woohoo!

So, after a bit of looking around, I have since bought 13 Escher models second-hand, unpainted and am ready to start putting them- and some terrain, together for a casual sort of campaign. Being over in Australia, its been hard to find people interested in it (the models need to be shipped from the UK) but we have found a few others. Unfortunately, I couldn't track down any Heavy Stubbers... perhaps the hive will be kind to me and I'll get some in the future.

Without further ado, I present my gang, Name Pending.

Gang Leader, Tanya
Club, Plasma Pistol, Frag Grenades

Heavy, Rissa
Flail, Flamer

Ganger, 'Kat'(rina)
2x Swords, Frag Grenades

Ganger, Megan
Lasgun, Autopistol

Ganger, Val
Flail, Laspistol

Ganger, Jade
Lasgun, Autopistol

Ganger, Misha
Lasgun

Juve, Pinky
Autopistol

Juve, Bubz
Stubgun

Juve, Trish
Club, Stubgun

Juve, Betty
Club, Autopistol

Stash: 50credits

Haven't rolled up XP or Terrritories yet- will do so when painted and the others get their gangs together. Thoughts? The list is mostly made of what models I have in my possession, and what I've converted up. Currently trying to work out a story, gang motto/tattoo, and M.O.

I'm also currently dreaming of making 4-9 1'x1' MDF terrain boards. I have a few ideas for some of them: currently want a toxic sludge pit, with pumping station and piping, a large dilapidated industrial building with rusted pipes large enough for models to walk through, a massive warehouse with gangway on the inside perimeter- and a ladder to get onto the roof. Also quite a few bridges, and regular multi-level buildings and ruins connected by them.

Any thoughts?

Looks nlike a strong enough list, although I haven't played since the previous edition (which I assume is relatively different as you had to roll randomly for gear and then dish it out).

In terms of getting hold of a Heavy Stubber - it was basically a rectangular box with handle and a cylindrical barrel with holes in it. Making it pretty simple to convert.

Cheers, I didn't really know what I'm doing- its been around 6 years since I played 2nd Ed 40k, so I wasn't really going for what setups would be the best (although, I heard 2xSwords is nasty because you get to parry twice!... I just love the model :)).

I'll keep the heavy stubber conversion option open. Its more of a problem of having to model it onto a model, and all the Escher I have are one-piece, so until I get a dremel and grind her weapon off, I can't really do the conversion. I'm considering, because they're all women and don't have access to the strength table, of modeling up a stubber on tripod. Not sure though.

Well my Orlocks were inordinately succesful back in the day (helped having my Gang Leader roll a Bolt Gun I recall that much). If I can find one of my old lists I'll post that up with a few shots of the gang (I think they're in the garage) and we'll see about setting up a little Necro corner discussion group :D.

Entry #2

Well, I'm sitting here cutting out tiled plasticard, gluing to the tops of their bases and then clipping and filing it down to a rough circle shape. Its slow, but it really does make it look so much nicer. Still think about attempting to make my guns on tripods- I figure that way, I can buy the larger Heavy Weapons base, put plasticard on it, and then cut two normal circle based sized holes in it. Once I do that, I convert up some tripod mounted heavy weapons, and a ganger (it could be any old ganger- I wouldn't really have to model her interacting with it- maybe a more static then dynamic pose though) and taa-daaah- I have a Heavy w/ whatever heavy weapon I care to make.

Am also brainstorming terrain ideas, and sketches. Might post some later, if I'm happy with them.

Ok, well, I am still working on this. Currently I have one test model undercoated white- I've painted her hair purple, and attempted to do some NMM work on her gun, but it didn't work out how I wanted. Still looks ok, though and I'll keep improving my NMM technique. I've always been bad at skin tones, so we'll see how it goes with them.
