Vampire Counts Rumours

Post by Ehakir »

Hello,

Since the HE are (near) official released now, I suggest we go on to the next army. So, have you guys heard any rumours yet? At my local playing place, they said that VC are going to get the following changes:

Zombies become skirmishing, one unit can use the general's weaponskill

New unit: Wraiths. Banshees will be the unit champions

Black knight upgrade => Blood knights, which are a rare slot, and are ofcourse undead. Furthermore they would have basic two attacks each and S5, T4 2+ Asv. They would be equipped with lances and be frenzied, so on the charge 3 S7 WS crappy attacks per model.

Dunno if it is true, but hey, it's a start

Sounds far fetched to me, Zombies with ws6+ and undead with frenzy and strength 5? Who are your sources? Unless you happen to play with the game develpers I am inclined to think this is wishful thinking by VC players.
Moding a group of Druchii.net players is much like directing the musical 'Cats' using actual cats. Frustrating, difficult, chaotic but ultimatley satisfying and a great deal of fun.

I have heard similar things from my sources. The blood knights mighth ave a decent weapon skill to boot because they are actually a unit of low teir vampires.
Inconsistancies in fluff bother me.

Warseer.com for the latest rumors.

- Ghouls are no longer skirmishers
- No more bloodlines, all powers in 1 big pool
- New flying monster "Varghulf" aka were-bat
- Knights of the Blood Keep, a unit of Vampire Thralls, Frenzy, Rare choice
- New plastic Grave Guard + other models (no new black knights)
- 5 special characters, all Von Carstein
- Armies must be led by vampires (after all, the army is called Vampire Counts not Vampires & Friends)
- New black coach powers, uses powerdice each turn (voluntarily) to power up and receive benefits e.g. fly
- New magic items inc. an item that makes Skeletons within 8"/12" (cant remember exactly) use the Vampires Weapon Skill.

Thats about all i can remember right now..
Best Regards, Comrade Igor.

Zombie rumour = false. They are not skirmishing. They are however reduced to S2 along with a point drop.

The knight of blood keep is indeed true but it is NOT a black knight upgrade its a 0-1 rare choice of which the points will land on about 50-60pts a knight. They are indeed low tier vampires.

Try looking over at warseer.com instead and you´ll get alot more reliable rumours instead of people who dont really know what they´re talking about.
You´ll get a much better idea that way.

I do hope the Ghoul rumour isn't true. if they aren't skirmish anymore, my plans for my VC army go down the sink :(

Not only that but it seems they are also getting the undead rule, so no more flee reaction. Too make things more simple... but also I suspect so Strigoi vampires actually can join the unit they´re supposedly lords over.

I gotta say though, a unit of T4 A2 and unbreakble in our special way doesnt sound that bad, depending on the cost of course.

True if the changes are true VC it will change the way its played quite alot... however I dont think this isnt for the worse, quite the opposite.

Bloodlines are apparently gone. However, vampires will be getting a seperate bloodline power limit (as well as the magic item limit) with a much larger bloodline range so you can effectively chose your bloodline.

I heard zombies were becoming S and T2, and being unable to persue. However, if there's a plague cart nearby (new unit, dunno much about it) then gain regenerate.

The Special Characters are Vlad, Isabella, Konrad, Mannfred and Mannfred Ascendant (after Hel Fenn). Apparenly the models for which are all awesome (I've only seen Mannfred though).

No Vampire Lords now, just the single Lord vampire choice. (I expect there may be Bloodline powers that give stat boosts). I think Master Necromancers are gone as well.

Even if it's true, and according to the folks on Warseer that will be the case and I have faith in them, the new VC still worth the shot. The sneak peek pictures of the future models are just awesome. And I'm liking the rules rumour section. And after all, after SoA, we can hope that armies will be better and stronger eh ;)

Removing the bloodlines? This has me bellowing in rage! I do hope they still put out a broad range of models, so you, in theorym still have your Blood Dragons and your Necraches, etc.

Knights of Blood Keep sounds really good, but I really shouldn't hope they were frenized. They are Blood Dragons, cool composed warriors of great pride, not mindless killing machines.

@silverheimdall: please do not post excessively long urls, it messes up the page. Instead, learn to use the [ url ] tool, like this: VC models - sneak peak.
Unit strengths and bases are covered here.
Updates are here.

It messes up the page? How? I don't see it (and I ask so that we can talk about it in Hotech's Software Cabal and try to fix it). Can you post images of what it does or describe it?

You can still make a Blood Dragon vampire just that you arent 100% restricted to current BD powers. You will be able to make more customized vampires.

They bloodlines are _NOT_ gone fluffwise.

Blood Knights sound fantastic but if they are truly 50-60 points a model I would expect a Ward Save of some kind... These arent chosen we are talkin' bout!

sounds like they are bringing back a few old undead magic items from the herohammer days.
IIRC the old tombkings crown used to allow undead units within 12" use the wearer's WS.

Also the someone suggested the plague cart might make a return. that would be cool cause i still have the old model somewhere.

To me it sounds like you can now customize the army more. I havent seen the site, so I can't be sure. Can you upgrade one vampire with a Blood Dragon upgrade, and the vamp next to him with the Lahmia upgrade?

I heard ethereal is getting nerfed. It just allows you to move through terrain without penalty but you can be hit in combat normally. I've also read that Black Knights will get the ethereal rule.

Ugghh, all I can say is that the Manfred on the link up the page is seriusly lacking, its not a bad model but it looks much more like a chaos lord to me, luckly the curant model is great anyway.
