Amen. Thanks very much for that.

And to all other Angel players, I have used this list. While not perfect, it does fix alotta problems and you can build very competitive lists with it. Get out their and spill some blood!

It's certainly an interesting move by GW to make a codex available for download. I can't help wondering if this may be a new shift in direction for them, freeing up more of our hard-earned money for buying minis rather than books. They already have most, if not all, of the specialist game rulebooks available online (though not always as a handy single download), and this is to be encouraged.

It also means that updates can be provided simply and quickly, and minor tweaks can be carried out more often as and when needed, rather than having to wait, either for a revision or a new edition.

On the other hand, the books are true works of art, and there's something nice about having a physical book in your hands rather than viewing a PDF online.

It will be interesting to see if this approach is extended.

I guess it might be useful for all those variant armies, ripoffs of Leth's lists, or, in the case of marines, chapter-specific lists, with all the main info being in a printed codex and the specifics as a PDF to download.

Very interesting. I will watch this closely.

it is a good idea but if they really do make all codices available for downloading, i would miss the flair of having a book with all the background information of the race we are playing. i think they probably should make the codex available to buy and to download.

HUZZAH!

i think the only reason it's available for downloading is because there is no new codex as such.

You just have to have bought the previous 2 WD's.
My mate is furious that he has no codex just the suppliments.

He doesn't really need any codex to play Blood Angels. All he needs is the thing that is available for download :) The wargear options are all pretty well explained in either the codex or the rulebook.

And like darkprincess, I'm also going to watch how things proceed from here. Despite being somewhat angry for not getting a new physical codex for my little red Marines :( And printing the pdf doesn't count! :P

Im not super happy with it, I would love a true Codex. But this is far better than nothing. GW damn-near ignored the Blood Angels for months if not years. They would shove out a new FAQ every now and then when guys like me would get to annoying. And they already said that their not doing then for another couple of years  . So this, while imperfect, appeases me. It should tide me over till the real Codex hits the shelves.

And this talk of GW making Codex books available to download... I doubt they will make a habit of it. GW has fallen in love with money recently. They will keep pushing out books. Mark my words.

As a guy who believes paying for the system and the minis is overcharging, I find this a positive note. True, some people prefer a true book rather than an electronic printed format, but I believe there are specialised firms who will gladly take your PDF and print you a book (provided you pay for their efforts, of course).

If (big if) GW continues to bring out free codices/rulebooks, then that's a serious change for the better for their image. Who knows, the increase in mini sales could cover for the loss of book sales?

A lot of people got kind screwed on the last issue containing the Blood Angels Codex since it also had the 2 free Mighty Empire Tiles in it. You could buy them for $8.00 or you could get a $6.00 White Dwarf and get them for free. So many people bought extra copies of it. In fact I wanudered all over Wisconsin and Minnesota (about 20 game stores in all) and only found 2 copies of it total. It is basically sold out everywhere and my game store couldn't even reorder it with a few weeks left before the new one came out.

After playing a good few games with this list, I have found alot of things wrong with it. It limits you more then it lets you loose. For example, you can only get a termie squad to 5 models (in big games I like using 10 man squads), you cant take termie command squad and other stuff. Your characters are rather limited to the gear they can take and stuff like that. You can still win with the list. But its a bunch of little stuff that starts to piss you off (like a chaplain or librian that dies because you cant buy the extra wound).
